Boulder Beer Company
You can get an MBA (Masters of Beer Appreciation) from Boulder Beer as they announce the return of their monthly Beer School which is now in session. Each first Monday night of the month from November through April, Boulder Beer will be hosting seminars that feature samplings of seasonal beers, and a discussion led by their Brewmaster, David Zuckerman. Last year’s classes included a session on hops varieties; firkins; filtering; stouts, porters and barleywines; and how to taste beer like a professional. This years classes will fill up fast as they are limited to 30 students each. For $10 you can reserve a seat for the month and receive a generous amount of samplings with your class. Avery Collaboration Not Litigation Ale Release Party

Avery has collaborated once again this year with Russian River Brewing Company of Santa Rosa, CA to make batch #3 of Collaboration Not Litigation Ale. A blend of Salvation Belgian Golden Ale and Russian River Salvation Belgian Strong Ale, Collaboration is a dark, aromatic and delicious "blended belgian strong ale". Join in on the rounds Thursday the 19th for February's beer-infused tip-of-the-hat to New Orleans, and experience the sensuous pleasure of pairing fresh Wynkoop ales & lagers with Creole cuisine. The evening begins with a pint of gold and spicy Belgian Tripel 6s. Boulder Strong Ale Festival

Harpo's Sports Grill
This year will mark the 7th annual tribute to big beers (all 8+% ABV) from around the country with 77 beers from over 45 breweries. It's been moved up to February this year and will again be hosted at Harpo's Sports Grill in Boulder. Around 1000 expected to attend. Many new breweries participating this year. $25 at the door gets you a commemorative glass, 16 2-oz sampling tickets. Additional sample tickets are two for $1. Plan ahead - bring a designated driver or arrange for a ride home. Friday hours: 4pm to 10pm. Saturday hours: Noon to 6pm.
