Left Hand Brewing releases Smoke Jumper Imperial Smoked Porter

Left Hand Smoke JumperFresh from their December 2008 newsletter, Left Hand Brewing of Longmont Colorado announces the release party for their Smoke Jumper Smoked Imperial Porter. Here's what they had to say about their new release:

Left Hand Smoke Jumper Smoked Imperial Porter

I know. We just released our Snowbound Winter Ale and our Warrior IPA. You're saying to yourself, "I can't handle it anymore! There is no way you're about to release another brew!" Oh yes we are. One of Left Hand's most demanded beer, most unique beer, and most complex beers is coming your way this Friday, December 5th. Our Smoke Jumper Imperial Smoked Porter, the official beer of the National Smokejumper Association, is being released around 5pm in the Left Hand Tasting Room. Look for one of our most unusual beers, the Smoke Jumper Imperial Porter, as well as some food and even a few of those real-life heroes that risk their lives to save our wilderness'. We'll have a tip jar accepting donations for the association and plenty of beer flowing. After you try our new brew you'll understand why they're the "keepers of the flame" and we're the "keepers of the smoke."

This truly hand-crafted smoked imperial porter is made with hot and cold-smoked barley malt using a combination of several hardwoods. Roasty black in color, the long-lingering smokiness wraps around flavors of sweet molasses, toasted malt and an earthy hoppiness. The beer is full-bodied, black with garnet undertones in color, and 9.2% alcohol by volume. Here's the smoke in your glass, not in the woods. The Atlanta-Journal Constitution gushed last time we brewed this that it's "chock-full of lingering smokiness, along with other roasty flavors."

States that are getting it: Colorado, Alaska, Arizona, Florida (Fort Lauderdale /Miami, Orlando, Tampa, Ft. Myers, Panhandle), Georgia, Kansas, Kentucky, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Minnesota, Missouri, New Jersey, New York (Long Island & Upstate), North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Rhode Island, South Carolina, Sweden, Tennessee (Nashville), Texas, Virginia, Washington (Western only) and Wisconsin.
