Wynkoop touts new cans and brews

Wynkoop Rail Yard AleLast May I reported that the Wynkoop Brewing Company of Denver, Colorado would be joining the growing list of craft brewers to put some of their beers into cans. In their most recent newsletter, Wynkoop finally unveiled their Railyard Ale was finally available in cans. Railyard will be available in canned 6-packs to go from the brewery and will cost $7.99. Another of their beers, Silverback Porter, was reported to be heading for cans as well but no word on that just yet.

In honor of the Denver Beer Fest and the Great American Beer Festival, the Wynkoop will also be rolling out special beers all during the coming week. Special tapping ceremonies will be happening practically every day at 4pm-5pm from September 19th through the 22nd. Take a look at their planned offerings:

The Obamanator - September 19th
Back by popular demand! A dry hopped Maibock lager brewed originally for President Obama's historic visit to Denver during the DNC.

All-Star Pale Ale - September 21st
An English Pale Ale brewed in conjunction with the Brewers Supply Group. It's a light, smooth, moderately hoppy ale brewed to showcase a new malt and hop variety from the UK.

Ba-dunkle-donk - September 22nd
Brewed with Cody Christman, the 2009 Beer Drinker of the Year, for the GABF's Pro/Am Competition. It's a Munich-style dark lager called a dunkles: rich and malty, served at cooler temperature.

The Wynkoop is also planning a big Beer Dinner of the Year in October. October's beer dinner will highlight the Wynkoop Beers of 2009. (Stay tuned for details on Beers of the Year - the Mini Fest Oct 10th). Brewmaster Andy Brown has been stashing kegs of each specialty and seasonal beer brewed since the beginning of January. They'll be sampling six of his favorites alongside a special harvest feast prepared by Executive Sous Chef Bicklehaupt. Tickets are $35 each. Reservations can be made by calling 303-297-9999.
