Big Beers Belgians & Barleywines Festival

15th annual Ouray Ice Festival

This New Belgium Brewing sponsored event serves as a fundraiser for the Ouray Ice Park, this unique locally owned festival has become a Mecca for professional and amateur ice climbers from far and wide. The multi-day event includes: demonstrations, clinics, new product demos, competitions, and of course, plenty of opportunities to celebrate with a tasty New Belgium brew! Avery Black Tot Rollout Party

Set your watches now. The 3rd in the series of Barrel-aged beers is being released on January 15th from 5pm to 8pm as Avery offers up Black Tot, a 10% ABV Imperial Oatmeal Stout. This beer will be in very limited numbers (300 cases) and you'll only be able to get a handful of these 12oz bottles. Max 6 bottles per customer. $8/bottle. Avery saved some of original Imperial Oatmeal Stout and also filled a single bourbon barrel and a rye barrel with the same stout. Estes Park Winter Festival

Event includes free snowshoeing, family games and activities, chili cook-offs Saturday and Sunday for $5, wine and beer tasting for $20, live entertainment, horse and carriage rides, Estes Park Observatory tours, cowboy poetry and ghost stories (6:30 p.m. Jan. 15 at the Crags Lodge, 500 Riverside Drive), art gallery walk and private photo tours and live entertainment at the Rock Inn at Mary’s Lake Lodge and the Stanley Hotel. The 15th annual Winter Trails Day event will take place Jan. 15. Snowshoe manufacturers will be on hand to offer the opportunity to try out their snowshoes. Other activities include winter safety presentations, outdoor product demonstrations, igloo making and expert advice on the fitting and selection of snowshoes. The Parade of Darks

This one is called The Parade of Darks and will feature the best brown ales, porters, stouts and other richly colored (and flavored) beers from Wynkoop and a slew of other local breweries. A slew of brown ales, porters, stouts, dunkels, barley wines, dubbels and other richly colored (and flavored) beers. Beers are from Wynkoop and special guests including Lost Abbey, Left Hand, Stone, Great Divide, Back Country and more. 1st Annual Craft Beer Bartender Challenge

Do you have a favorite bartender out there that really knows craft beer and kicks ass? Well let them know about this event and then come out and support them the night of! Contestants will be judged on their knowledge of breweries and beer styles, presentation, pouring skills, and proper glassware usage. The judges include: Jeanie Dorris (5280 Magazine), Marcus Chamberland (The Denver Post), and Scott Kerkmans (Cicerone Certification Program (Beer Sommelier Program)). Hosting the event will be Left Hand’s own Bubba Love. The top bartender will get their name enshrined on a trophy and high end bling from the participating breweries and Old Chicago valued at over $1000! Left Hand for Haiti

Left Hand Brewing Company is hosting a fundraiser to raise money for the victims in Haiti. "Left Hand for Haiti" will be hosted at the Left Hand Tasting Room. They'll have a live band, food donated, a silent auction, proceeds from beers purchased, and a representative from the local non-profit, "Colorado Haiti Project.” All donations, earnings from the silent auction, tips for the band, and $1/pint sold will go directly to the Louisville based Colorado Haiti Project, that has provided aid in Haiti for over 20 years. Donations include authentic Haitian artwork and crafts, local handmade quilts and paintings, gift certificates for Longmont businesses, Left Hand Brewing beer and merchandise, and a “Brew Day at Left Hand Brewing.” The Colorado Haiti Project is a state-wide non-profit organization founded in 1989 to extend aid to the poorest of the poor in a rural area called Petit Trou de Nippes, about 80 miles west of Port-au-Prince. CHP is supported entirely by donations from private individuals, foundations, and over 40 Episcopal churches in Colorado. Web site.

This year's Winter Brew Fest will be held once again at the Mile High Station near Invesco Field and will celebrate craft beer from around Colorado and other U.S. microbrews. The fest will feature live local music, food, art and other surprises. This event will benefit the Swallow Hill Music Association. Music provided by Jubal and the Rude Boys playing their progressive reggae jams. Festival hours: VIP Hour 6pm-7pm, Regular 7pm - 10pm on Friday January 22nd. Cost: VIP $40 advance / $45 at the door. Snowdown Homebrew Competition

This is an AHA/BJCP Sanctioned competition. Osiris's Homebrewing Competition is going to be held during the local Durango, Colorado festival of Snowdown, which is a giant party in downtown Durango. The theme for this years Snowdown happens "Life's a Beach." The competition will be held at the new SKA brewing in Bodo Park (225 Girard St, Durango, Colorado 81303). The competition itself is a preliminary for the 2009 GABF Pro/Am, meaning that the winner’s recipe will be brewed in large scale for both production and judging in the Pro/Am. The winning recipe will be brewed in a SKA Local Series single batch to be sold at their brewery and in stores. The recipe’s inventor will oversee the large scale production of the malt beverage in Durango, Colorado with SKA Brewing. Entries open from Dec. 15, 2009 to Jan. 15, 2010.
