January marks the return of Odell Red

Odell Red AleIt was back in early 2009 that I reported that Odell Brewing Company of Fort Collins had decided to drop their old Extra Special Red Ale and replace it with a new seasonal Odell Red Ale. Now the time has come once again for this big hoppy red ale to return for a second year just for few months.

Odell Red Ale is a bold hoppy brew that will get your attention right away. It's not for the timid or meek. It's got enough citrus and pine flavor to satisfy the biggest hop lover.

Odell Red Ale weighs in at 6.5% ABV with a respectable 50 IBUs. The Red season begins January 9th with a tapping celebration in their newly remodeled tap room from 11am to 6pm. Odell will give away a free six pack to whoever shows up in a clever goat costume. Wonder if growing a goatee will count? Hmmm.

Thereafter, you can enjoy Odell Red Ale from January through April when it will be time for their next seasonal, St. Lupulin to appear for summer.

Look for Odell Red Ale in stores mid-January. Six packs will run you somewhere between $9.49 and $9.99.
