Colorado Beer News Today is "Neither Snow Nor Rain" Day, "Salami Day" and also "Google Commemoration Day". We're also in the middle of "National Payroll Week" and "National Waffle Week". So salute your postman with a Salami and Waffle Sandwich and go cash your paycheck while Googling your favorite Colorado brewery today. Oh, and it's Great American Beer Festival and the Denver Beer Fest month. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, September 7th, 2011.

Hops & Pie (Beer Bar - Denver) will host their monthly Littlest Big Beer Fest on Sunday, September 18th from 2pm to 5pm. This month, they will be pouring the beers of Upslope Brewing Company of Boulder, CO. Make plans to participate now.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) invites you to come to the 9th annual Sunnyside Music Fest this Saturday, September 10th from 10am to 8pm in Chaffee park, 44th & Tejon, in Denver. Listen to a great line-up of bands and enjoy a couple of Breck brews at the Beer Garden.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Their nearly "minted" wooden nickels are in. Look for these at events and Giveaways. In fact they'll be at Taps in Ft. Collins and Matador this afternoon to give a few out. It gets you a free pint in their taproom.

Wednesday's Trivia Question: This recently opened brewery/restaurant took over the location of the old Boulder Draft House earlier this year and specializes in Mexican inspired food and hand crafted beers, margaritas and mojitos. They brew such beers as: Cabo Gold, Rio Negro, and Miguels IPA. Which brewery is this?

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) is releasing two beers this Friday September 9th at 5pm. The 1st is "Afternoon Delight" - their ProAm raspberry porter made with over 100 pounds of fresh raspberries. The 2nd brew is their "Peachtree Cherry Wheat" - a brew aged a year in Zinfandel barrels and brewed with cherries and peaches.

Oskar Blues (Longmont & Lyons) has released their September Music Calendar for all 3 of their locations. See who's playing and plan a visit.

New Belgium (Fort Collins) - Rumor going around on Twitter today states: "@Brewgasm Server at @BarleysTapPizza tells me some bottles of @newbelgium say "Soon opening brewery in Asheville." Secret is out!" - So could it be that North Carolina won as the 2nd location for a New Belgium brewery? Stay tuned.

Fun Fact: Elitch Gardens (Denver) is calling all zombies, goblins, ghouls and anyone who loves to scream. They're in need of actors during their Fright Fest haunting season. The park will hold auditions for performers on Sat.&Sun. Sept. 10, 11, 17, 18, 24, 25 from 1pm to 4pm. After your audition, head to a local watering hole and enjoy a Colorado craft beer.

Wit's End Brewing (Denver) officially received their Certificate of Occupancy on September 6, 2011. Congrats! The official brewery opening can't be far behind. Opening day details forthcoming.

Funkwerks (Fort Collins) releases their ProAm beer, Motif, today at 4pm at the brewery. Full glasses will be half price. Chat with brewer, Jeffrey Blackburn too.

New Planet Beer (Boulder) is co-hosting a gluten-free beer dinner at WaterCourse Foods, 837 E. 17th Avenue in Denver, CO on Tuesday, September 13th at 6pm. Local author, Brian Gansmann, aka the "Gluten Gladiator" will be reading excerpts from his new book "Defeat Wheat". RSVP for reservations to (303) 832-7313 for this rare gluten-free experience.

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Fort Collins) just received a shipment of large cognac barrels. Rumors of an 18% Imperial Stout to be placed within are now being heard on their Facebook page. Pray that the news is true!

Beer Book Alert - On Thursday, September 29th from 1pm to 3pm the public is invited to join author Christian DeBenedetti at Ale House at Amato’s (2501 16th Street, 303-433-9734) to celebrate the release of his first book, The Great American Ale Trail: The Craft Beer Lover’s Guide to the Best Watering Holes in the Nation (Running Press; September 2011; Paperback; $20.00 US). Then, beginning at 8 p.m., DeBenedetti will set up shop in the Book Tent at the Great American Beer Festival (GABF) to sign copies and interact with fans.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) is bringing 5 beers to the GABF: India Pale Ale, Reverend, duganA, Hog Heaven and Immitis. Their participating in several GABF events including: Apps & Ales at the Paramount Cafe (Sept 26), Colorado Rare Beer Tasting at the Rackhouse Pub (Sept 27), Beer, Brats & Burlesque at Lannies Clocktower Cabaret (Sept 27), Special Tasting at Ale House at Amato's (Sept 28), Midnight Breakfast at Euclid Hall (Sept 29), Falling Rock's Rare Beers & Favorites Tapping (Sept 30) and Duel with the Brewers at Cheeky Monk (Oct 1).

BierWerks Brewery (Woodland Park) has lit the fires of their outdoor fire pit to keep their beer drinking customers warm. Gotta love the cooler weather.

Denver Beer Week (Sept 23-Oct 1) - have you seen the Denver RTD Beer Buses? Denver Beer Week is 16 days away.

Odell Brewing (Fort Collins) is hosting a Firkin Wednesday today. They'll be pouring pints of Palisade Peach IPA today along with live music from 4pm to 6pm.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) won the Reporter-Herald Reader's Choice 2011 1st Place Award for Best Micro Brewery. Congrats to Grimm Bros!

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) Thursday night (Sept. 8th) at 5pm, Bristol Brewing will release their Bristol's Octoberfest lager. Also, next Tuesday, September 13th at 5pm, they will celebrate the release of their annual "Local 5 Ale" - an ESB beer brewed with the help of local firemen. 100% of the profits from this beer go to help C.S. Firefighters Local 5 families of fallen firefighters.

Colorado Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) is hosting "Kill the Keg" this Saturday at the brewery featuring their Panther IPA. Come out early and join them for a FREE BEER before the game. Kill the Keg starts at 12:30 and ends at kick-off (of the Air Force game) around 1:30pm.

Eddyline Restaurant & Brewery (Buena Vista) - Its official. Their new taproom is NOW OPEN! WOOHOO! 5pm - 10pm daily until September 20th and then they will open for lunches.
