Colorado Beer News Happy Friday! Today is National POW/MIA Recognition Day. Let's never forget those left behind. Clink your glass and toast in their honor this day. It's Great American Beer Festival and the Denver Beer Fest month. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, September 16th, 2011.

Telluride Blues & Brews Festival (Telluride) - the 18th Annual festival starts today (9/16) and runs through Sunday (9/18). The Telluride Blues & Brews Festival takes place in Telluride Town Park, a renowned outdoor music venue with breath-taking mountain peaks for a backdrop. There will be dozens of breweries represented at this 3-day festival. Be sure to sample as many of them as you can. Web site

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - today marks the release of Farmhouse 'Peche Noir' Saison. This black Saison is brewed with dark malts, brown sugar, grains of paradise, and aged on fresh peaches. You will enjoy this harvest treat! 7.0% ABV, extremely rare.

Vine Street Pub (Denver) - Tomorrow is the day!!! Join in at 1pm outside the Vine Street Pub for the Uptown Block Party. This is a FREE event and features live music by Dave Johnston from YMSB and Drew Emmitt from Leftover Salmon, the first ever Mountain Sun Brewer's Olympics, a Denver All-Star Comedy Debate, the best beer garden in Denver and much more. All proceeds from the event benefit Cancer Support Community Colorado.

Friday's Trivia Question: This "group" was founded in 1995 by local brewers in an effort to promote the quality and diversity of the growing Colorado craft brewing industry. They provide valuable informatino to the beer-drinking public and the media while serving to protect the industry and promote positive legislation for Colorado craft brewers. This group represents more than 95% of all craft beer production in the state. Name this organization.

Strange Brewing (Denver) - This is a big weekend at Sports Authority at Mile High and we are running specials for both games. CU vs CSU: Show your college spirit and come into the brewery wearing CU or CSU colors for $1 off pints. They're opening at 10:30 am. Broncos vs Bengals: Enjoy $1 off pints 1 hour before and during the game. They'll be opening at 11 am. Please feel free to park behind the brewery, in the fenced in area due to the front lot being paid parking for both games.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - now has their Mexican Chocolate Stout back on tap starting today (9/16) at 3pm. This make an awesome dessert beer. Try some.

Denver Beer Fest (Metro-wide) - this year's Denver Beer Fest is just a week away. There are over 60 beer events planned for the 10-day span between September 23 to October 1st. Check for all the details and plan to attend 1 or more events.

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Fort Collins) has just sent off two new label designs to the printers. One for their upcoming Surette - Wood-aged Farmhouse Ale, and the other for their W.W.B.O. Wild Wild Brett Series ale brewed with tangelo, orange peel and spices. These brews will be released close to the GABF at the end of the month.

Los Oasis Latin Grill & Cerveceria (Boulder) has temporarily closed it's doors to business. Hard times and owners searching for a new investor have turned out the lights on this recently opened restaurant and brew pub. Read the full article in the Boulder Daily Camera.

Pateros Creek Brewing (Fort Collins) announced the tapping of their Owl Canyon Pumpkin Ale today. Stop in the brewery to try their latest creation. Made from local pumpkins and spices.

OktoberWest (Steamboat Springs) - the 3rd annual OktoberWest starts today in Steamboat. There will be over 30 different beers from 13 breweries participating. Come up to see the changing Fall colors and enjoy some great Colorado craft brew. Full story in Steamboat Today.

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) now offers Mr. Brown's Pumpkin ale on tap at the brewery. It's the kind of brew that they'll serve it with whipped cream on top. Grab some soon as this seasonal brew won't be around long.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) invites everyone to come on down to their tasting room for a Fundraising Concert on Saturday, September 17th at 7pm. A local group "The Fab 4' will present a night of Beer & Beatles music to support a great cause - the Longmont Ending Violence Initiative (LEVI). Get tickets online.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) announces that this Tuesday September 20th, this year's batch of Ten Fidy Imperial Stout will finally be put into cans! Check out the official Ten Fidy video for a peak into their brewing process.

103.5 The Fox (Denver) - Denver classic rock station 103.5 FM The Fox is giving away pairs of GABF tickets! They're telling everyone to listen to them all next week to win tickets at 8am, Noon and 5pm for your chance to win. Also you can enter contest online.

Sporting News Grill (near DIA) is offering travelers a bevy of Colorado craft beers at their pub (16 on tap). For GABF, they'll be featuring a multitude of special bomber releases and beer-centered food specials. Each night they will be doing special tappings of limited release stuff from various breweries. Tappings begin at 6pm, and run until the beer is gone (which won't be long...). The schedule is as follows:
Wed 9/28- Boulder Beer Oak-Aged Grapefruit Infused Mojo
Thu 9/29- Tommyknocker Thursday will feature their Pumpkin Ale
Fri 9/30- Oskar Blues HGH, featuring all Homegrown Hops from Dale's farm.
Sat 10/1- Left Hands Oktoberfest will be the feature.
They may add multiple tappinga each night as the beers tend to go quickly.
