Colorado Beer NewsToday is Virus Appreciation Day. We'd all appreciate it more if viruses would keep out of our computers and beer today. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, October 3rd, 2011.

GABF - Well, it's finally over. All the yelling, the cheering, the massive parties. Time to get back to reality. Grats to all the breweries who won medals at the festival. A complete list of winners can be found on the Brewers Association site. Colorado won 39 medals this year. 15 Gold, 10 Silver, and 14 Bronze. Add 5 out of state medals for parent company Rock Bottom of Louisville, CO.

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) won GABF medals for the first time: 1 Gold, 1 Silver for their Berliner Weisse and Oatmeal Stout respectively. Grats to Jeff and Stephanie Crabtree and their crew! Visit the brewery this Friday at 6pm-8pm for a special release party for their Cezanne Saison.

Brooklyn Brewery (New York) gets a special shout out from Fermentedly Challenged. What a great team of brewers and reps at the GABF. It was a privilege working with you at the festival. Your beers were very popular and had me pouring non-stop for over 9 hours - and you didn't run out of any beer. Loved the Black Ops (Imperial Stout) and Sorachi Ace (Saison)!

TRiNiTY Brewing (Colorado Springs) has new Winter hours starting today. Mon-Thurs 12pm-9pm. Fridays 12pm-11pm, Saturdays 11am-11pm, Sundays 11am-8pm.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) has been getting lots of questions about where people can find their GOLD medal winning Red Cap on tap: Sports Station CO, Pourhouse Bar and Grill, Ed's Cantina & Grill, Wapiti Pub, Mariana Butte Golf Course, Applebee's Loveland, CO, Wild Wings n Things Loveland, Whistle stop in Berthoud, TGI Fridays in Greeley, BENT FORK the grill, Matador Mexican Grill, The Mayor of Old Town, Budweiser Events center for Colorado Eagles Hockey.

New Belgium (Fort Collins) - is sponsoring the US GranPrix New Belgium Cup - on Saturday 8:00am at Fort Collins, Colorado, the second weekend of the USGP of Cyclocross returns to Fort Collins, CO after a wildy successful debut in 2010. Fort Collins is home to a number of cyclocross standouts - including Georgia Gould, Meredith Miller and up and coming junior Skyler Trujillo - so the competition for hometown domination will continue to be intense. The course will feature a deceptively tough course - featuring a VERY nifty flyover, native grasses that require power, terrain and elevation changes, dirt and pavement - all given the Fina treatment for something extra special. Please note that there will be a $3 per car parking charge in effect on Saturday and Sunday.

All Colorado Beer Festival (Colorado Springs) - the next big Colorado beer festival will be held on November 5th in Colorado Springs at the Colorado Springs Expo Center - 3650 N. Nevada Ave. It's the annual All Colorado Beer Festival featuring beers from only Colorado breweries. Tickets are on sale now for this 1 day - 2 session event. www.allcoloradobeerfestival.com

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) will be releasing their Venetucci Pumpkin Ale on Tuesday, October 18th at 5pm at their brewery. Pre-sales of this tasty brew will start today at noon. See www.bristolbrewing.com for details. Already today, over half of the available cases have been pre-sold and are expected to sell out by 5pm tonight. Hurry!

Avery Brewing (Boulder) will soon debut a new series of beers called their "Annual Barrel Series". The first such beer will be called Rumpkin, an ale brewed with pumpkin and spices and aged in rum barrels. This series will differ from their other barrel aged series in that these beers will return on an annual basis whereas the Barrel Aged Series is a one time only release. Bonfire Brewing (Eagle) got in a whole new shipment (early) of their stainless steel growlers. 72 of them in all. Doors open at 5:30pm today. Get yours today before they are once again gone and back-ordered.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) has recently invested hundred of thousands of dollars into a new process to infuse nitrogen into their milk stout. On September 29th, Left Hand released their newest innovation: Left Hand Milk Stout Nitro in bottles. A secret process allows you to aggressively pour a 12oz bottle into a pint glass and have the perfect nitro pour of their famous Milk Stout. This brew is currently only available in Colorado through the end of the year and then available to all states they distribute to starting in 2012.

Colorado Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) recently announced they were to open a second location at the old historic Midland Terminal Railroad Roundhouse at 600 S. 21st street. This is just the first of much larger expansion plans they have. Already they have plans for a third location by this time next year. See full story at the Colorado Springs Independent.

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) is once again supporting the fight against breast cancer this year. Come in and buy a pink pint glass for $5 and they will donate 100% of the proceeds to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. They are also accepting donations to that foundation as well.

2012 GABF Dates - next year's Great American Beer Festival will be held on October 11-13, 2012. Set the date and get ready to buy tickets early the week they go on sale in June 2012. Don't miss out next year!
