Venture Snowboards and Ska Brewing are once again teaming up to welcome winter with our 7th Annual Season Kickoff Party scheduled for Saturday, December 3rd - opening day at Silverton Mountain! This year's Season Kickoff features live music from the Crags and Farmington Hill, Ska drink specials, and tons of giveaways from Purgatory, Purl Wax, Silverton Mountain, Silverton Powder Cats, Smith Optics, Skullcandy, Spark R&D, TREW Gear, and Wolf Creek Ski Area among others. Dec. 15 at 6:00 p.m. The Backbone is the only restaurant that will be serving The Griffin AND is the only location to pair delicious food with the brew. Grimm’s Griffin is a hefeweizen, a wheat beer brewed with special yeast to add herbal and tangerine notes. Cherry Awaken Stout Tapping Event

Everyone knows Trinity's Awaken Stout and how deliciously the coffee and chicory flavors they add mix with the profile of a good stout. For the fourth year in a row Trinity Brewing will be tapping kegs of Awaken Stout aged on Cherries on Christmas Eve. They age their stout on over 1 lb of Montmorency Pie Cherries per pint for the very special occasion. These kegs of chocolate cherry nitrogenated heaven are the only kegs of Cherry Awaken they will tap this year. In 2010 they set a record by blowing both kegs in 36 minutes!!! This year they are pre-selling tickets so that everyone will get a chance to try this super special brew. In previous years they've sold out in minutes and not everyone was able to get a pint. THIS YEAR, show up at 11 AM. They will sell "beer tickets" for one hour and the beer will be tapped at NOON!

New Year's Eve Fireworks

The sky will once again sparkle over the 16th Street Mall at the close of 2011 with the New Year’s Eve Fireworks Downtown. The two spectacular fireworks shows will occur at 9 p.m. and midnight. For the best viewpoints, stand along the 16th Street Mall. Costumed entertainers will interact with crowds between shows, including magicians, mascots, balloon artists, stilt walkers, comedians and more. Please note, between 8 p.m. and 1 a.m., RTD Light Rail trains will not cross the 16th Street Mall and mall ride shuttles will stop temporarily during the two fireworks shows. Be safe! If you are celebrating with alcohol this holiday season, plan ahead before you party. Park your car in an overnight lot, take a cab or public transportation or designate a sober driver before anyone takes a sip.
