Telluride Brewing Company opens for business

Telluride Brewing CompanyJust in time for ski season, Telluride Brewing Company is finally opening it's doors after months of hard work preparing for this day. Today, October 14th, 2011 marks their official opening day of the brewery. Brewmaster Chris Fish and partner Tommy Thacher have been working night and day these last few months to get everything ready. Construction of the brewery actually began back in April.

Telluride Brewing's facility is located in Lawson Hill at 156 Society Drive, just a few miles west of Telluride, CO. Their tasting room will actually be located in town as part of the Llama Restaurant at 100 West Colorado Avenue where their beers will be available on tap. The brewery is now open for tours and growler fills.

Fish and company will make Telluride brews available in cans, growlers and kegs. No bottles are being planned. Cans were chosen for their better environmental impact over bottles and portability.

Inside Telluride BrewingAs of opening day, they'll be pouring their Redfish Ale and also their Bridal Veil Rye Pale Ale. They also plan to make IPAs, Stouts, Porters and a lager-style rice beer. All of their beers will be available at the unveiling at the Llama Restaurant in Telluride at 6pm Saturday.

A full write-up on this new brewery can be found at "The Watch" - an official news source for the Telluride area.

Also recently, PlumTV did a video interview with the business partners. See video below for the insights into this business:

Telluride Brewing's Facebook page describes their business as follows:

"Our goal is to create a microbrewery in Telluride, Colorado predominantly dedicated to the local and regional wholesale distribution of our handcrafted ales.

Telluride Brewing cansTelluride is the choice location because it is located in Colorado, where Craft Brewing companies are thriving. The brewery will be located in Lawson Hill, CO (approximately three miles outside of the town of Telluride) and will be a 15 barrel system with a maximum production of approximately 25,000 BBL’s (Beer Barrels) per year, where 1 BBL = 31 gallons which equals two 15.5 gallon kegs. The plan is to produce at least 1,500 BBL’s the first year while increasing production each year after. We plan on offering a sampling of our beers via a “wall of taps” so we can display the crafting process firsthand as an internal part of our brewery space. We also plan on having an accessory retail component allowing for the sale of Telluride Brewing Company merchandise (i.e. hats, stickers, t-shirts, etc.), 6-packs, 12-packs, cases, kegs and Growlers.

The Tasting room for the Telluride Brewing Company will be located in the town of Telluride at 100 West Colorado Ave. In conjunction with the Llama Restaurant, the Telluride Brewing CO.’s Tasting Room, we will offer twelve beers on draft as well as a full bar and wine. Customers will also be able to order food, such as delicious burgers, salads, and sandwiches off of the Llama’s menu, as they enjoy our delicious beer. Moreover, the Llama has daily specials and live music regularly. Finally, merchandise such as hats, tee shirts, sweatshirts, stickers and coozies will be sold in the tasting room."

Their business hours posted are: Monday through Saturday 9:00am to 5:00pm.
