Thanksgiving reminder: Many Colorado breweries will be closed for Thanksgiving in order to spend time with their families. Be sure to get your growlers filled early this week to ensure you have plenty to go around for this long holiday weekend and avoid the holiday shopping rush on Friday. Fermentedly Challenged will be open all day - we never close, although you might not see a new post that day!

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - Just in time for the holiday weekend, Yak & Yeti will be releasing their robust porter - Sherpa Porter - this Wednesday, November 23rd at 4pm. Stay tuned for more about these releases.

Stop by after shopping and try some.

Grand Lake Brewing (Grand Lake) - Planning to be up in the mountains around Grandby or Grand Lake for Thanksgiving? Stop in for their Thanksgiving Day Buffet at the Grand Lake Taphouse - it will be amazing. No need to cook. Come and have some great food and beer!

Global Climate (Weather) - What does the weather have to do with Colorado beer? Plenty, if you ask sustainability director Jenn Orgolini of New Belgium. Avery Brewing (Boulder) is asking Boulderites and Coloradoans to sign an online petition to petition the Boulder City Council to allow tap rooms to make and server food. Allowing distilleries, wineries, and breweries to serve food at their tap rooms would promote a safer and more responsible environment for alcohol consumption. Also, if restrictions on all of Boulder's industrial zones are allowed to be affected by one business who had industrial land rezoned for non-industrial use, then we could lose the iconic and unique businesses that make Boulder so special. View and sign the petition on change.org.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) says "Pardon Our Dust" as they start construction on their new bar for the taproom this week. They are hoping to have a grand re-opening sometime in early December for the new taproom. Plan on seeing several beer surprises to help celebrate.

Carbondale Beer Works (Carbondale) - Like to play music? Wanna jam with others? Come to Jam Night tonight at Carbondale Beer Works. BYO guitar, voice, fiddle, spoons, washboard or whatever you play and join in the fun. $1 off all CBW beers and appetizers all night too.

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) - As winter settles in around Boulder, Colorado, fans of Twisted Pine Brewing Company are bristling with the excitement that surrounds the annual release of the brewery’s Northstar Imperial Porter. The Baltic-style porter will make its 2011 debut on December 1st to a select few ticket holders for the vertical tasting which coincides yearly with the beer’s release. The highly regarded ale will be available to the public at large beginning December 2nd. See the full press release on this.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - The brewery expansion got one step closer today. Two new 200 barrel fermenters arrived at the brewery today. There are still 4 more scheduled to arrive in addition to a 400 barrel bright tank. Stay tuned for 2012 and watch them grow!

Great Storm Brewing (Colorado Springs) has received Federal approval from the TTB this morning! They were told to expect 4 - 6 months, it took 36 days. TTB went to a new online application system last month and we were one of the first applicants in the new system. They were caught a little by surprise, but they'll be working hard in the coming weeks to get the brewery ready to open. Great Storm may be pushing up their opening date a bit! 2012 can't get here soon enough.
