Colorado Beer NewsToday is Colorado Gives Day and also National Gazpacho Day. So while you're busy helping out various charities in the Centennial State, go enjoy the classic Spanish soup and pair it with your favorite brew. Funny how a summer dish is celebrated in winter. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, December 6th, 2011.

Dolores River Brewery (Dolores) - Announcing the return of the Mastodon! Well, at least the Imperial Stout that is. Dolores River's classic Mastodon Imperial Stout is now available on nitro tap at the brewery. Stop in and taste this modern marvel while it lasts.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Friday, December 9th, is the designated opening date of Grimm Brothers newly renovated tap room. Crews of volunteers helped to paint the taproom over the weekend and put on some of the finishing touches. Come check it out this Friday as there will be a lot more room!

Bonfire Brewing (Eagle) - Lovers of the dark brew can look forward to Bonfire's Dark Dog India Black Ale coming in the next couple of weeks. The brewers are working on a new batch today. Also, Bonfire's black stainless steel growlers are now back in stock. Swing buy and get one and fill 'er up for the cold week ahead.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - You can now find Copper Kettle's Mexican Chocolate Stout on tap at the Wynkoop brewery in downtown Denver. Also, their Black IPA is now featured on tap at the new Denver Bicycle Cafe. Check them out while you're out and about in Denver today.

Renegade Brewing (Denver) - Today is the release date for Renegade's new Elevation Triple IPA. This monster 11.2% ABV brew is measured over 100 IBUs and is single hopped with Summit hops. It taps at 5pm today.

Freshcraft (Denver) - Come to Freshcraft at 7pm on Thursday December 15th for a tapping of Upslope 3rd Anniversary Ale (a Baltic style porter) in celebration of Upslope's amazing first three years! Friends from the brewery will be on hand to talk all things Upslope and with every Upslope beer that you drink you will get a chance to win a VIP tour of their brewery. Head to 1530 Blake Street in Denver LoDo.

Carbondale Beer Works (Carbondale) - Tonight is KDNK Community Radio Trivia Night! $5 per person donation for KDNK plus $1 from every CBW beer sold goes to support Local Radio! Brave the cold and get here early to warm up - Starts at 7:30!

Ska Brewing (Durango) - Today is Colorado Gives Day. If you donate $10 or more and bring in your confirmation to Ska - you'll get a free pint today! www.cogivesday.org

Best Craft Beer Cans of 2011 - Colorado breweries need your vote! Head to CraftCans.com and vote for your favorite canned craft beers of 2011. Several Colorado breweries are represented in this year's vote. Be sure to press SKIP during registration after your 1st vote to get to the next screen to ensure your vote counts. Vote for 1 in each of several categories.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - Don't forget to "Shut up and Sign" tonight at the Avery Tap Room! They will be hosting a silent auction to benefit the Rocky Mountain Deaf School. In addition, $1 from every pint purchased benefits RMDS! Bring your friends, even if you don't know how to sign. This is a great opportunity to learn for a good cause! Starts at 6 pm!

Trinity Brewing Company (Colorado Springs) - Everyone knows Trinity's Awaken Stout and how deliciously the coffee and chicory flavors they add mix with the profile of a good stout. For the fourth year in a row Trinity Brewing will be tapping kegs of Awaken Stout aged on Cherries on Christmas Eve. They age their stout on over 1 lb of Montmorency Pie Cherries per pint for the very special occasion. These kegs of chocolate cherry nitrogenated heaven are the only kegs of Cherry Awaken they will tap this year. In 2010 they set a record by blowing both kegs in 36 minutes!!! This year they are pre-selling tickets so that everyone will get a chance to try this super special brew. In previous years they've sold out in minutes and not everyone was able to get a pint. THIS YEAR, show up at 11 AM. They will sell "beer tickets" for one hour and the beer will be tapped at NOON!

Rackhouse Pub (Denver) is hosting a Dry Dock Pint Night this Friday, December 9th from 4pm to 6pm. The first 50 people to attend will receive a free Dry Dock hefe glass. Meet Dry Dock Brewer and Cask Master Walt Chleva as well as other members of the Dry Dock staff. Beer of the Day - $3.00 Dry Dock Hefeweizen. Other Dry Dock beers being served: Special Firkin of Barrel Aged Cask Conditioned Vanilla Bean Russian Imperial Stout, Firkin of Strawberry Hefeweizen, and Walt's Barleywine.

New Planet Beer (Boulder) - While their web site may not show it yet, New Planet's Facebook page is showing off a new look and logo for their brand. Look for all three of their beers to begin showing up in the new green packaging soon.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - Recent showed off the bottle for their 2011 Christmas Ale in the new large flip-top bottle. Only 1000 of these bottles were made. Look for these starting to show up soon. Get a sneak peak on Facebook. Available only via their tasting room and a select few stores.

Upslope Brewing Company (Boulder) - (from their newsletter) 'Tis the season to be jolly and what better way to be jolly than with a new Christmas Ale from Upslope Brewing Company? Wednesday, December 7th they will be tapping their newest brew in the Limited Release Series, Upslope Brewing Co.'s 2011 Christmas Ale. This seasonal elixir pours ruby red and offers a complex aroma of holiday spices and Belgian yeast character. The rich, malty body pairs nicely with the subtle spice notes of juniper berries and coriander and even better with holiday cheer (and at 7.4% abv there will be plenty of holiday cheer!). Join Upslope for a celebration with food from RollinGreens and shake off the cold with your neighbors in north Boulder.

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - What are you doing tomorrow, December 7th, from 5-7pm? Getting a buzz on for charity, of course! Crazy Mountain will be having a tapping party for their newest ale, KSKE Brew - a Red Ale. 100% of the pints, pitchers, growlers and 6-packs sold will be donated to the Vail Valley Salvation Army. This is a great way to "give back while throwing one back". Cheers for charity & Hoppy Holidays!
