Colorado Beer NewsToday is Go Caroling Day. Grab some friends, head towards your favorite brewery or watering hole and start singing. Who knows. If you're really good, they might just give you a free beer for your efforts! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, December 20th, 2011.

Rockyard Brewing (Castle Rock) has another exciting one-off deviation beer release to share. On Friday, December 23rd, Rockyard will offer up "The Ice Queen", a much stronger version of our No Brainer Belgian Blonde. I once again threw a keg of it into the deep freeze several times until it would freeze no more. At 14% ABV, this ruler of the winter may just be what you need to warm the soul. Be sure to order the specially paired appetizer that Chef Hefe whips up as well!

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) is preparing to release a new series of artisan ales featuring labels with works created by local artists. The first such brew will be their Surreal Stout in January. Read all about it in their Press Release.

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - This piece of news came a bit late for yesterday's newsletter. Mmmmm, can't you just taste the warm goodness of an oatmeal raisin cookie? How about the liquid equivalent? Aged in whiskey barrels with caramelized raisins, Stephanie's Oatmeal Raisin Cookie is perfect on a cold winter's day. Crabtree's 4th release in the 750 mL Barrel-Aged Series will be available this Thursday, December 22nd in the Tasting Room from 7:30pm to 10pm! Make sure you swing by the brewery to purchase your bottle of this Limited Release before it's gone! Also, today, it's $3 pint Tuesday.

Equinox Brewing (Fort Collins) is working on a documentary on the brewing community of Colorado, focusing mainly on Fort Collins. They will be working on this piece throughout the next year. The following is a new rough cut highlighting the Equinox Brewery.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Like many other breweries, Copper Kettle will be closed for the Christmas holiday starting this Friday. You'll have until Thursday night to fill up your growlers for the week and have a pint or two to help yule tide things over.

Strange Brewing Company (Denver) - Strange is presenting their 1st annual Dress Down New Year's Eve Party!! Brian and his Crew will be playing live jazzy-funk music from 9 til midnight. Being that Strange is such a down to earth establishment, they will be doing a potluck style food extravaganza. Bring in your favorite dish for all to share. Lastly, being that they want to avoid all of the glitz and glam of News Years Eve, dress it down to your PJ's/lounge wear and enjoy $1 off pints for the evening (please use good discretion in your PJ attire). Open December 31st from 12pm to ???

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - For the first time, the Yak & Yeti will be delving into the realm of barrel aged beer. They've gotten a hold of a rye whiskey barrel from Leopold Brothers and will be using it to age some of their Sherpa Porter. Stay tuned for news on when they will be rolling out their first barreled keg.

The Cheeky Monk Belgian Beer Cafe (Denver & Westminster) - both locations have been busy tapping some more seasonal ales for you to enjoy this week - Wittekerke Winter White & Scaldis Noel at Colfax; Samichlaus, Scaldis Noel & St Feuillien Speciale (limited supply!) at Westminster. 'Tis the season! Stop by to savor these holiday brews.

Bonfire Brewing (Eagle) - the folks that brought you Tebrew Sunday Sipper announce the arrival of two new treats this Friday, December 23rd. Check out: Dark Dog India Black Ale and Tent Pole Vanilla Porter Special Edition #2 - two full days before Christmas! Pete Stein Band will bring the tunes on Friday. Expect much merriment.

Crooked Stave (Fort Collins) - Come visit Crooked Stave tomorrow, Wednesday December 21st in Boulder at Boulder Wine Merchant from 5-7pm were they'll be tasting Fertile Soil, Surette, and for the first time Wild Wild Brett Yellow and Wild Wild Brett Green! It's a tasting not to be missed. Location: 2690 Broadway in Boulder.

Vine Street Pub (Denver) - It's T-shirt Tuesday! Stop in and buy any t-shirt (great holiday gift) and you'll receive a free pint along with your purchase! Who says shopping can't be rewarding?

Breckenridge Brewery Ballpark Pub (Denver) Today only - get $3 XMAS Ale's all day and night while they last. Also the Colorado Goat Roapers will be playing there for New Year's Eve. Band will start around 9pm, get $3 beers, house shots, well drinks and house wine all night. Free Champagne toast at midnight!

Kannah Creek Brewing (Grand Junction) is having a Winter Solstice celebration. Come celebrate The Winter Solstice at The Creek. They would like to wish all of their wonderful customers a warm and jolly Holiday Season and show their appreciation for your loyal support, so on Thursday 12/22, their Soulstiz Winter Ale will be pouring at $3 a pint all day.

Fort Collins Brewery (Ft Collins) is co-hosting a BEER DINNER this Thursday, December 22nd at the Matador Mexican Grill. It's an all day special that includes: $10.99 taco plate, $11.99 burrito plate, chips and salsa, and a beer in an FCB pint glass that you get to keep! Refills are only $1.41 as well! We will have 4 taps featuring Big Shot, Doppel Bock, Cream Ale, and Double Chocolate Stout! Location: 1823 E. Harmony in FoCo.

Cranknstein (Fort Collins) - Get Dressed, Go Out: Join in for a festive New Year's Eve party at Cranknstein on Saturday, December 31st from 8pm til 1am. Snappy Dress Encouraged. See and Be Seen: You'll enjoy hors d'oeuvres, dancing, a champagne toast, party favors, music, fun, and friends. Get your tickets at www.articulatecity.com for $20. Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) just posted another new video that takes aim at the Big Boys once again. Can you say - "Sevendruple-hopped"?

Odell Brewing (Fort Collins) - Ugly Sweater day is tomorrow, December 21st. Bust out your most hideous knitted apparel and swing by Odell's tasting room from 4pm to 6pm. They'll have lots of tasty brews, live music, food truck fare - and - prizes for the best (er worst) sweater. Bring a camera while your at it and post some pix of your favorite.

Ouray Brewery (Ouray) - Tomorrow, December 21st, is their monthly non-profit day. Stop in for beers on Wednesday and 10% of all proceeds earned for the day will be donated to the Ouray Ice Park. They'll be open from 11am until 9pm. Brewery swag also makes a nice gift!

Pateros Creek Brewing (Fort Collins) - Don't forget! Today is half price growler day at PCBC. They have 8 different beers for you to fill your growlers with. Stock up for the long holiday weekend.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - Mark your calendars for some special tappings at the Avery Tap Room. On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday, December 21st - 23rd at 5pm there will be more Rumpkin on tap. They'll tap a keg a day for 3 straight days. Also, on Friday December 30th at 5pm get ready for more Trogdor! Also, stop by on New Year's Eve for a special tapping of Meph Addict. Don't miss out.

Avalanche Cafe & Brewery (Silverton) - While this business has been open for a while (since 1994), their brewing operations have not and were just installed this Fall. Just last week, Avalanche Cafe brewed up their first batch of beer, a Porter! This brew may just reach their taps by the end of the year. Stay tuned for more news as this would become Colorado's newest brewery to open. Location: 1067 Blair Street, Silverton, CO.
