Colorado Beer NewsToday is Step in a Puddle and Splash Your Friend Day. Think you'll still have friends after you do that? You might, that is if you follow up and buy them a beer. Just beware, paybacks are a b*tch. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, January 11th, 2012.

Prost Brewing (Denver) - Another milestone in becoming a brewery. Prost now has their Federal Brewers Notice and are now authorized to brew and sell beer. Only 58 days from submitting their application til approval. For the time being the brewhouse is still parked in Bremen. According to the schedule only 18 more days until it arrives in Houston. Getting it to Colorado will then be only a short time after.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Snow day special! Stop in to Copper Kettle and you'll get $1 off all dark beers today. Just be careful out there!

Carbondale Beer Works (Carbondale) - Coming up on Saturday, January 28th, the Carbondale Beer Works - Ale House and Wienery - will celebrate it's 1st anniversary with a big party. They've just tried out some amazing new additions to their menu and will debut them at the celebration. Stay tuned to details.

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) quietly celebrated the completion of their second year of brewing yesterday (January 10th). Congrats to Crazy Mountain for 2 great years, and with their expansion underway 2012 looks to be an even bigger and better year ahead.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Congrats to Jason Yester (Saison Man) for being named a finalist in the Top Guests for 2011 on the Brewing Network Podcast. Jason was very honored to be named in the same company as many other top brewers last year.

Denver Beer Company (Denver) - In case you hadn't heard, Denver Beer Company is bringing back it's popular Graham Cracker Porter today, January 11th at 3pm. This popular brew was supposed to have been a one-time thing but patrons loved it so much they've brewed it up several times now and it always runs out quickly. Stop in at 1695 Platte Street in Denver to see why this brew is so popular.

Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Speaking of bringing back popular brews, FCB is re-releasing The Incredible Hop Imperial Black IPA on Friday the 13th. But fear not - that is not a bad omen. It's available on tap and also in bomber bottles. Enjoy!

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Grimm beers are expanding out! Grimm's Little Red Cap is now available on tap for a time at the Wynkoop Brewing Company in downtown Denver. The legend grows! And for you bourbon barrel fans - stay tuned. Grimm Brothers let it be known today that they will soon be bottling a bourbon barrel imperial stout called The Count. Stay tuned for release date info.

Beer Festivals - If you missed the Big Beer Festival in Vail last week, don't sweat it - there's another beer festival this weekend and it's tuck away in the pavilion in the Stanley Park Fairgrounds up at Estes Park. It's their 3rd annual Estes Park Winter Fest! There will be a big beer and wine tasting on Saturday and Sunday. Breweries in attendance: Grimm Brothers Brewhouse, Pateros Creek Brewing, Bristol Brewing, Funkwerks, Estes Park Brewery, Left Hand Brewing, Del Norte Brewing, Odell Brewing, AC Golden, Wynkoop Brewing and Copper Kettle. Plus 8 wineries, 1 hard cider company and 2 distilleries will also be offering up samples to boot. Tastings run from 11am to 5pm and tickets cost $25. Get info at: Be there! You might just see old Chipper Dave there.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - The date has been set. Expect to see the new 16oz cans of Deviant Dale's IPA hitting the shelves on March 1st! Won't be long before the O.B. tall boys will be in your hand and on the hiking trails. Can't wait.

C.B. & Potts (Highlands Ranch) - Beer Dinner Alert for January 25th (Wednesday). Ty Nash, brewer, has teamed up with Chef James & Chef Estrada to create a unique five course meal using their handcrafted beer as inspiration. Start off with a special tasting of their gold medal winning Colorado Blonde Ale at 6pm and then sit down to dinner featuring such tastes as Butternut Squash Bisque, Prime Rib Brochette, a garden salad, Saison Apple Stuffed Pork Loin, and a Banana Chocolate Cream Pie - each paired with a special C.B. & Potts brew. Space is limited. Call for reservations - (720) 334-1200. Cost: $49.95 per person. Location: 43 West Centennial Blvd in Highlands Ranch.

Choice City Butcher & Deli (Fort Collins) - Tonight Choice City is going to be tapping a special firkin of Odell Red Ale infused with Ginger. Tapping happens at 6:30pm. Every Wednesday you can get $1 off all beers and $1 sliders from 5-9pm. Come check out their amazing beer selection.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - The new year brings big changes to the brewery! They are installing a TV for the upcoming play-off games. The TV will only be used for play-off and Broncos games. However, this WILL NOT become a sports bar. When the football season is over, they will be going back to live music on Sundays. They are also adding another doorway into the brewery and more seating area. Gotten any Big Beaver lately?

Austin's American Grill (Fort Collins) on Harmony Rd. is excited to announce their next "Grapes vs. Grains" dinner will be on Thursday, January 26th with New Belgium Brewing. Tickets are $49.95 and space is limited so call 970-267-6532 for reservations. During the last dinner, wine just edged out beer for top food pairing selection. Will beer hold it's own this time around? You decide!

Avery Brewing (Boulder) and Stone Brewing (California) - Come celebrate the *snow* with Avery Brewing and Stone Brewing at the West End Tavern tonight! This is the first stop on their Road to Winter X Games Aspen 2012 tour! From 7-9 pm, they will be giving away prizes and pouring some great beers from both breweries. Including Avery's own Piglet Purgatory! Come by and get entered to win the X Games Grand Prize: 2 tickets to the Winter X Games Aspen 2012 Kick-Off Bash, 1 night stay at the St. Regis Hotel, 2 lift tickets to Buttermilk Mountain, and 2 X Games event passes to be given away at the Avery Brewing Company Tap Room on Thursday, January 19th at 7pm!

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - If it's Wednesday (hump day) then it must be $6 Growler Refill Day at Crabtree Brewing. Grab that growler and head downtown Greeley just across the tracks and fill up. Currently on tap: Serenity Amber Ale, Eclipse Black IPA, Head Turner Blonde Ale and a special Saison. Coming soon a new variation on their Berliner Weisse.

Dad & Dude's Breweria (Aurora) is now offering growler fills every Saturday. They enjoyed filling your New Years Eve growlers so much that they decided to offer the service every Saturday! Bring in your own growler and let them fill it with your favorite liquid. You'll even get FREE WINGS when you fill two (2) or more growlers. For a specific tap list check their Facebook page or call (303)400-5699 on Saturday.

Wynkoop Brewing (Denver) - Westword (Jonathan Shikes) is reporting today that Wynkoop Brewing Company is in the process of expanding for the first time in 13 years. New fermenters and a pending permit to brew over at Breckenridge Brewery will help them brew over 50,000 barrels of beer this year in 2012.

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - Sherpa Prima is a robust porter aged in Leopold Brothers Rye Whiskey Barrels. A special tapping of this will be on Friday January 20th starting at 4PM at the Yak & Yeti in Arvada. This will be the first 2 kegs released. They will release a few at a time so each subsequent set of kegs will taste different as it will be sitting in the barrel at different intervals. Served responsibly in 10oz glasses. Yak & Yeti haven’t worked out the details or price, but they requested their bar manager to order some actual Leopold Bros. Rye Whiskey for those that want to do a side-by-side. There might be a beer and shot special for those who want to try both.
