Colorado Beer NewsToday is Feast of Fabulous Wild Men Day. On this day we are encouraged to have a bit of fun, slightly on the naughty side, but don't get too carried away! Women should ogle and whistle at all the hunks you come across. Guys, just act wild and ask all your friends to do the same. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, January 12th, 2012.

Copper Kettle Brewing Company (Denver) - Plan to watch the Broncos game at Copper Kettle as they will be releasing a new beer at 5pm, an hour before the game. Stop in to try out their new Czech Pils. There will be lots of food available as well.

BierWerks (Woodland Park) - The big day is getting closer! The Second Annual BierWerks Winter Bier Fest will be held on Feb. 25th, from 12pm - 4pm! Get your tickets now for $25 or at the door for $30. Confirmed breweries are: BierWerks, Bristol, Odell and Del Norte. More to come! Arvada Beer Company (Arvada) - What are you doing Saturday around 6pm? Where are you doing it at? Since The Broncos are playing a late game Saturday, ABC has decided to bring out a very special beer that will tap at 5pm. They have 2 kegs of their Barleywine that has been aged in a "Colorado Whiskey" barrel. Come enjoy this special beer and Cheer on the Broncos! The beer will be gone by the end of the game. Still only $5 a pint including tax.

Eddyline Brewing Company (Buena Vista) - Recently, Eddyline received a lot of Raspberries and they decided to brew up a batch of Mountain Fairy Raspberry Wheat this week. Plan on seeing this beer on tap in Buena Vista around the end of the month. Also, they will be brewing a new beer next week, a Schwarzbier (or German black lager). This brew will boats a lot of chocolate and Vienna malts. They are looking for name suggestions for this brew.

Colorado Craft Beer Radio (AM 760 - Saturdays 12pm) - The beer guys at CCBR were up at the Big Beers Festival in Vail last weekend and taped a lot of interviews and videos of the brewers and those in attendance. Check out their clips on their web site. Then tune in every Saturday at 12pm to 1pm on AM 760 in Denver for more Colorado craft beer news and interviews.

Funkwerks (Fort Collins) - Today is the day. Their single hopped golden ale named "Aurora" will be released today. Get a FREE poster with the purchase of a bottle, and a free t-shirt with the purchase of a case! Be sure to come in at 4pm for the release party. That's TODAY folks!

Upslope Brewing Company (Boulder) - They let the news slip that in March, Upslope will be releasing a new Belgian style ale. They put some of that into a firkin yesterday by mixing it with part of their Barleywine and added cherries to the brew in their taproom. Stay tuned for March for the full taste of their Belgian beer.

Pateros Creek Brewing (Fort Collins) - It's a New Outlaw day! Today's is another in our hopped up series, this one's called Hop Cache. They bumped Cache La Porter up to 70 IBUs and dry hopped with Zythos, a new Pacific Northwest hop blend. It's said that this turned out pretty great, come try a pint! Open 12-8pm today.

Beer Laws in Colorado - an article came out today in the Denver Post about how Colorado lawmakers are seemingly unwilling to take on expanded beer sales of full strength beer for grocery and convenience stores in 2012. That's good news for Colorado craft breweries. Read the full article for more information.

River North Brewery (Denver) - A new brewery, located in the old Flying Dog building, has officially started brewing their first beers this week. After an initial 14-hour brew day, their Black IPA is now officially in the fermenters. Today they will be brewing up their Saison. Opening day can't be far behind. Firkin Rendezvous 2012Bristol Brewing Company (Colo. Springs) - Mark your calendars. This year's Firkin Rendezvous will be held on Saturday, February 18th at Bristol Brewing. It's a big celebration of cask conditioned ales. Over 23 breweries will be participating in this 8th annual event. VIP entry starts at 1:00pm and General admission starts at 2:00pm. Equinox Brewing (Fort Collins) - Today's firkin is the release of Kepler Pale Ale, a citrusy, hoppy American style Pale Ale. The firkin was dry hopped with Amarillo hops. It taps at noon! Get some!

Backcountry Pizza and Tap House (Boulder) - A special Firestone Walker Beer Dinner is being planned at Backcountry Pizza and Tap House in Boulder coming up on Thursday, January 26th from 6:30pm to 9:30pm. There will be six different Firestone Walker beers paired with some unique tastes including: seared foie gras with Velvet Merlin, Cedar plank salmon with Double Barrel Ale, Cheese puff pastry with Sucaba (Abacus spelled backwards), a tropical salad with Union Jack IPA, Lamb with Oaktoberfest, and a Key Lime Pie with 15th Anniversary ale. Avery Brewing (Boulder) and the Sisterhood of the Hops are hosting a Back To Beer Basics class tonight at Avery's Barrel-aging cellar in Boulder at 6:30pm to 8:30pm. This "Back to Beer Basics" event will explore the ingredients and process of brewing, followed by a guided tasting. Join us whether you're a beer novice or a homebrewer! Cost is $7, which includes beer tasters and snacks, and dinner will be available for purchase. Please RSVP and pay at the door. All genders welcome!

Euclid Hall (Denver) - Stop by Euclid Hall today and try a limited edition from the Lips of Faith series: New Belgium's Ooh La La! A raspberry fruit beer that pours a dark red color with a slightly pink head and a tart berry aroma. With an 8.5% ABV this beer has a medium body with tingly carbonation and a dry finish. Available at 5pm today, try this brew with some foie gras, the beet ambrosia salad, or perhaps paired with some bone marrow! Then of course you must try the bone-luge.

Crooked Stave Artisan Beer Project (Fort Collins/Denver) - Cellar Reserve members just got their 1st email today about the new Cellar Reserve Memberships that have been sold so far since memberships were available in mid-December. There are still several spots open in this year's membership. Chad Yakobson announced that there will be a delay in getting Cellar Reserve members their first bottles as he is still in the process of finding and securing his Denver brewery location. He plans to release all of the 2012 Cellar Reserve beers in Denver at this point. This will push back the releases of the first beer or two (most likely for several months). Membership cards, t-shirts, dual bottle carriers and glasses are still in the works as well and will be given out at the first member release.

Upslope Brewing (Boulder) - Upslope is exited to announce the one-time, limited release of Upslope Brewing Company's Foreign Stout in cans! They'll be having a party to celebrate the release in their tap room this Saturday, January 14th. Upslope will be open during our regular tap room hours of 2-9pm, but show up between 2-6pm and you'll be able to walk right back to their canning line and grab a can fresh off of the line! You can't find a fresher way to get local, hand made beer than that. Boulder food truck Verde will be on site offering up fresh food as well. Upslope Brewing Company's Foreign Stout is a full bodied ale dark at night with a smooth taste that boast a nice roast flavor. Weighing in at 6.9% with 30 IBUs, it is a true example of the foreign stout style. They only produced 200 barrels of this brew so it truly is limited in all sense of the word.

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - a reminder - there will be a Poor Richard's Tapping party on Tuesday, January 17th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm at Dry Dock. Come celebrate the anniversary of Benjamin Franklin's birth on January 17th by hoisting a specially brewed pint of Poor Richard's Ale at Dry Dock! Formulated to resemble a beer that Franklin himself might have enjoyed and brewed. Poor Richard's Ale is a pleasantly malty, corny, and slightly nutty ale brewed annually to commemorate the birth of Benjamin Franklin. Location: 15120 E. Hampden Avenue in Aurora.
