From Kimberlee Ruben - The Fort Collins Brewery

This is about a friend of mine who's daughter was diagnosed with a life threatening disease. We are putting on a fundraiser with The Fort Collins Brewery, local musicians, and local artists to help raise money for the advancement of research for this affliction. Let me tell you a little about it...

Berkeley Bae PethBerkeley was born in November 2008. At four weeks old she was diagnosed with Cystic Fibrosis (CF), a life threatening disease that would dominate the years to come. Since then she has been given a fighting chance through modern medicines and procedures. Currently, she undergoes month long colds, lung infections, ritualistic medications, and twice daily twenty minute sessions hooked up to what is called a High Frequency Chest Wall Oscillation (HFCWO), a better-tolerated alternative to Chest Physiotherapy (CPT), to deliver vigorous, yet comfortable airway clearance treatment for patients battling CF.

Cystic fibrosis is a recessive genetic disease that causes excessive mucus build up in the lungs and can lead to life-threatening lung infections, pancreatic difficulty, and digestive problems just to name a few. This disease is the most common and deadly inherited disease in the United States affecting over 30,000 children and young adults. The average age of survival is mid to late 30’s.

The Cystic Fibrosis Foundation (CFF.org) is the leader in the search for a cure for CF. They are a non-profit donor supported organization that was founded in 1955 and, hopefully with our help, they can flourish and create hope for not only the extension, but also the quality of the lives of those who are affected by this horrible disease.

The Event:

75 tickets will be pre-sold at the brewery for the dinner that begins at 6:00pm on Saturday, February 25th. It will be a four course beer paring dinner for $50 with $15 going to Berkley and the other $35 to the restaurant. After dinner or around 7:30pm the brewery will do private tours while the volunteers and staff clear the brewery from dinner for dancing and LIVE MUSIC. Everything will be held in the brewery, community room, and tasting room! $20 tickets pre-sold for 2 beers and entry and then $10 for just entry fee at door!

The music will be Rich With Friends @ 7:30pm, Honey Gitters @ 8pm, and Press at @ 10pm in brewery. If you would like I can send band bios for greater description.

During this time half of the brewery will be transformed into an art gallery. This will include the well known local artists Alex Runge, Frankie Burns, Tim Posey, Jeremy Green and more. We will also have the G Town Hoop Group, a choreographed hoola hooping troupe to perform during the live music as well as lighting specialists and projectors.
