Colorado Beer NewsToday is Clean Out Your Computer Day. A gentle reminder that months worth of dust bunnies have been sucked into your PC and are slowly crippling your fans and overheating your CPU. Also, there are a ton of old files that don't need to be kept any longer. Clean them up! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, February 13th, 2012.

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - Attention Firestone Walker fans! The Mayor will be tapping Firestone Walker's Velvet Merkin this afternoon. You may have had their Velvet Merline before, but now try the two time GABF medal winning oak barrel aged version of the Merlin - the Merkin! Check the Twitter feeds for when this one taps.

Eddyline Brewing (Buena Vista) - Valentine's Day is tomorrow guys! Eddyline will be serving a 4-course Couples Dinner at the Eddyline Southmain. Get dinner for two for $44.99 plus tax + tip - includes appetizer, starters, entress, dessert and discounts on your favorite adult beverages. Call for reservations (719) 966-6000.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Hey Fort Collins - haven't been down to Copper Kettle in Denver yet? No worries - Copper Kettle is coming to you. For the next few weeks, you can find Copper Kettle brews on tap up at The Mayor of Old Town in Fort Collins. Give them a try - then stop down for more next time you're in Denver.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - The weekend release of Muscat d'Amour & Recolte Sauvage at Avery Brewing on Saturday was apparently a huge hit judging by the turn out shown on their Facebook page. Two different barrel aged beers were released to a giant crowd. No word yet on whether any extra bottles survived the release. If you missed it, better grab a bottle if you ever see one. - Also, news of an upcoming brew "Uncle Jacob's Stout", a 16% big beer is currently aging in wooden barrels at Avery. Look for word on when that one will debut coming soon.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) teamed up with Black Fox Brewing (Colorado Springs) to brew up a new collaboration beer called "Blood of the Sun, Petite Trajet Mortel". This Mayan cuisine inspired beer will be released on the end of the world death costume party on 12.21.12. This Saison will be brewed with 100% maize, and be brewed blood red. Ingredients will include: Red Clay, Annato, Tomatoes, Red chiles, anasazi bean, maize, cacao nibs, honey, pumpkin, and Hoja Santa... 14 IBU's and 14% ABV for the 14th b'ak'tun. When (if) the world ends, it's going to be one 'hell' of a party!

Pliny the Younger (Russian River) - Fans of Pliny the Elder know that it's a rare site to see kegs of Russian River's big IPA here in Colorado and now there will be kegs of Pliny the Younger (rarer) coming to Colorado starting this week. Already there are reports of several establishments planning to tap a keg or two of this rare brew. Check out Falling Rock Tap House (1st tapping done but another scheduled), Choice City Butcher & Deli, The Mayor of Old Town, Trinity Brewing (March 1st), and Home Made Liquids & Solids twitter and Facebook feeds for details on when their kegs will be tapped. Most kegs will be drained within 30 minutes of tapping! Look for other locations to get a ration of kegs as well.

Denver Beer Company (Denver) - What's better than a beer on a nice afternoon? How about beer for breakfast?! Denver Beer Company will be hosting a Coffee Beer Fest this coming Saturday, February 18th from 9am to 12 noon at the brewery. Cost is $25 and you get to keep a special mug and sample unlimited pours of 5 different coffee beers. A breakfast burrito and all you can eat bacon is included. Waking up early on a Saturday just got better!

Rockslide Brew Pub (Grand Junction) - Here's a Valentine's suggestion for you western slope folk - spend Valentine's Day with your special someone at the Rockslide. They're hosting some great food specials on the 14th on their red ahi tuna appetizers, their USDA choice prime rib, or surf & turf, or charbroilded steak medallions with bacon-wrapped scallops, or on their Ghirardelli chocolate cake. Also get drink specials. Try one of their in-house brews as well.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) is expanding again this week! Three new 480 barrel fermenters are being installed at the brewery in Longmont this week. Can you say more Nitro?! Good to see Colorado breweries are doing well isn't it?!

Mountain Sun (Boulder) - Oatimus Prime and Megatron have arrived! Mountain Sun is tapping their brand new Imperial Stouts today at all three pubs at 4:20PM. Oatimus Prime Imperial Oatmeal Stout is a massive oatmeal stout featuring flavors of chocolate and oatmeal cookie balanced by warming notes of alcohol. 10.8% ABV. Megatron is a huge dry-hopped American Imperial Stout featuring an assertive chocolate roast and an aggressive American hop presence. 10% ABV. Try them side-by-side at all three pubs (Mountain Sun, Southern Sun, Vine Street Pub) today!

Del Norte Brewing (Denver) - Come cheer on the world's best mustaches at a charity event "Mustaches 4 Kids" this Saturday, February 18th from 5pm to 8pm. Doors open at 4pm. $20 entry at the door gets you a pint glass to keep and 3 pint fills, a free stache and live music. Located at: 1390 W. Evans #2-O in Denver (Sante Fe/Evans).

Rockyard Brewing (Castle Rock) - The first bottle of the new Homebrewer's Gone Wild Series beer called "Olde BROaLE" has come off the bottling line. This is an Olde Ale brewed collaboratively with the Brew Brothers of Pikes Peak Home Brew Club from Colorado Springs. Look for this brew on local shelves on February 17th.

BierWerks (Woodland Park) - Rumors have been circulating for days, but now confirmation from the Beer Drinkers Guide to Colorado states the the two brewers at BierWerks, Jeff Aragon and Brian Horton, have indeed left the business to pursue other interests. BieWerks still has enough beer in stock to last several months (supposedly). BierWerks may have to put in guest taps in the interim until they finalize plans on what to do next with the brewery. Stay tuned for more news as it breaks on this.

Odell Brewing (Fort Collins) - At long last, Odell's Footprint RegionAle has finished conditioning in the bottle and will be shipped this week. Footprint is made from ingredients from all 10 different states that Odell Brewing distributes to. Look for it in stores later this week in 750ml wire-cage and corked bottles.

Star Bar (Denver) - Love beer & chocolate? There's just such a pairing on Valentine's Day at the Star Bar at 2137 Larimer Street at 6:00pm. There will be 7 special beers paired with 14 chocolates. All for $25. A taste for just about everyone.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - They've only been at their new facility for about 3 years and yet they are out of room to expand further. Oskar Blues is looking to relocate into a bigger, more permanent facility. Could the old empty Butterball turkey plant in Longmont be a good fit for Oskar Blues? The Daily Camera newspaper checks it out in their recent article.
