Colorado Beer NewsToday is Mardi Gras (aka Fat Tuesday). A day to party, pig out and get it all out of your system. Yes, it may be a work day, but we really don't need an excuse today do we? Break out your beads! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, February 21st, 2012.

Ale House at Amato's (Denver) - Happy Fat Tuesday! Join Breckenridge Brewery, Renegade, Boulevard & Russian River to support the Besties with Testes charity in the fight against testicular cancer. Entry is $20 and includes 8 beer samples, ONE free pint, passed hors d'oeuvres, Mardi Gras party favors and specials on Hurricanes. See you tonight from 6:00-9:00pm on the Ale House Rooftop.

Oskar Blues (Lyons) - FAT TUESDAY! Come on down to the party! They'll have a short parade tonight with the band around 6:30, kid's night, balloon maker, face painting, king cake and of course some great New Orlean's favorites by Chef Dan! Music with The Zydecoasters starts at 7:00!

Home Made Liquids & Solids (Longmont) - Join OBHMLS this evening for all of the Mardi Gras festivities! Chef Louie has been cooking up all your Nawlin's Favorites including Cochon De lait, jambalaya, gumbo, king cake and yes even gator bites! Hurricanes will be flowing and beads aplenty. Face painting for the young and old and balloon making. Jockamo will rock the house Mardi Gras style at 7p.m.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Laissez les bons temps rouler! And they will be rolling at the Left Hand Tasting Room this Fat Tuesday. Come in and join Left Hand for a few beers and a slice of Milk Stout glazed king cake. While your there you can also enjoy some low down southern tunes brought to you by the Zonky Tonk Zydeco band!

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - Mardi Gras at the brewery today! Come in wearing beads and get a discount on your beer. It's also $3 pint Tuesday. So wearing beads will get you a $2.50 pint.

Arvada Beer Company (Arvada) - ABC will be starting their Fat Tuesday party at 4pm with King Cake from Rheinlanders Bakery in Arvada, Plus, $2 off all pints all day and they will be bringing back a keg of their Colorado whiskey Barrel aged Barleywine. ( $6 a pint, with $2 off only $4). Some fun times await you at Arvada Beer for Fat Tuesday!

Carbondale Beer Works (Carbondale) - Happy Mardi Gras!!! Come up to Carbondale tonight at CBW for $3 Abita Mardi Gras Bock from 4 'till 7 then stick around for Trivia Night! $1 of every CBW beer will go towards the Mt. Sopris Historical Society!

The Fort Collins Brewery (Fort Collins) - 5 MORE DAYS until Pressing for a Cure! Dinner / show tickets are STILL available - just $50 for a 4 course beer paired uber yummy dinner and great show! $10- THE DAY OF THE SHOW at the door for the show. American Craft Beer Radio (FM 102.3 ESPN Denver) - Tune in this Saturday from noon to 1pm. Aspen Brewing Company (Aspen) - Staying up in Aspen this week? Come celebrate Fat Tuesday at the brewery. They'll be serving up Ajax Pilsner, Brown Bearale, Conundrum Red Ale, Independence Pass IPA, Pyramid Peak Porter, & other Seasonal beer served at the Bar and tasting room—happy hour, live music tonight.

Gunnison Brewery (Gunnison) - Head to the brewery in Gunny for Fat Tuesday specials. $1 fish tacos today and drink specials. What could be better!

Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) - Join Twisted Pine for Pardi Gras all day and night today. They have crawfish etoufee and beer jello shots. Plus the release of their "Show Me Stout".

Denver Restaurant Week (Feb 25 - Mar 9) - OK, so it spans two weeks, but that only means more great food for more people! During this special period, restaurants all over the Denver metro area will be offering up special $52.80 multi-course meals or two (or $26.40 for one). This is an excellent time to try out some new cuisine and perhaps pair it with an awesome Colorado craft beer. Odell Brewing (Fort Collins) and Star Bar (Denver) are teaming up this week to brew a special Star Bar beer for next month's St. Patrick's Day. Look for their special collaboration St. Patty's Day Red ale next month.

Kannah Creek Brewing (Grand Junction) - How's this for a unique Mardi Gras day beer pairing - try Kannah Creek's Alligator Bites - Yes that’s right they said alligator! C’mon you know you want to try it. Pieces of alligator tail tenderized and tossed in a Cajun style breading and deep fried. Served with a traditional stone ground mustard remoulade sauce. What beer would you pair this dish with? Several other Mardi Gras themed selections are also available today.

Upslope Brewing (Boulder) is proud to announce their first beer collaboration with Denver Beer Company. Join Upslope this Saturday at 2pm as they tap their newest limited tap room release; a Belgian-Style Chocolate Cherry Stout! Earlier this year, Upslope's brewers went down to Denver to brew at Denver Beer Co. and their brewers traveled north to brew a batch on our system. The result is a Belgian-style ale boasting bold cherry and chocolate aroma. At 10% a.b.v. this is a deceptively smooth, well rounded beer that has cheery and chocolate flavors lingering on the finish. Both breweries will be tapping this beer this Saturday. Tickets will be given out good for a glass of their effort at the other brewery's tap room.

Strange Brewing (Denver) - Happy Fat Tuesday!! It's dollar off pints all night. In honor of Mardi Gras, Strange has purchased a King Cake. Come in and enjoy a small piece. Remember, if your piece has the baby, you'll be purchasing the cake next year. However, you will also be the one that gets the free pint for your find!

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Today Crazy Mountain is proud to be showing off their brand new automated canning line. This new line will be able to put out around 90 cases of beer an hours. That fast enough for ya?

Pagosa Brewing Company (Pagosa Springs) - Stop in at Pagosa Springs for Fat Tuesday Cuisine & Stout Pairings tonight at the brewery. Dishes range from Oysters on the Half Shell, Fried Oysters, Honey-Chipotle Popcorn Shrimp, Chicken & Andouille Gumbo, Po'Boy sandwiches and Stout Cupcakes - there's also a stout beer geared towards every entree.

Hops & Pie (Denver) - Pliny the Younger will be tapped this coming Sunday the 26th at 3:30pm. Tickets will be handed out to the 1st 50 people who enter the building when they open at 2:00 sharp, those with tickets will get there 10 oz. pour of The Younger.

Freshcraft (Denver) - The first in a line of Left Hand Brewing special beers called Ambidextrous will be tapped at Freshcraft this Saturday. This one will be an imperial milk stout. It's a blend of Left Hand's Milk Stout, their Wake Up Dead imperial stout, and a Widdershins barleywine aged in whiskey barrels. Future version of Ambidextrous will also combine unique beers into a new and tasty offering.
