August 2012August continues the heat in Colorado and spells the middle of the outdoor beer festival season. Vacations are winding up, brew fests and outdoor music concerts are in abundance and summer ales and some Fall beers are coming into stock. There are always plenty of drink and food events going on at most Colorado breweries and entertainment venues as well. This page will be updated often as news of upcoming events are announced.

Here is a list of the upcoming Colorado beer fests, beer dinners, tapping parties, seminars and related events for August 2012. These listings are updated every week, so stop back often to see the latest happenings with beer in Colorado. Mead Day is a national event to increase mead awareness and foster camaraderie among meadmakers. Homebrewers around the world are encouraged to invite friends and family to celebrate Mead Day by making mead together. This is an official American Homebrewers Association event. If you are hosting your own mead making event please register it on the AHA web site. Share mead with others, pair your mead with food, and have fun!

Craft Lager & Small Batch Festival 2012

This year is the 10th annual Craft Lager Festival, held in Manitou Springs. This years festival is much bigger with even more to sample! The Craft Lager & Small Batch Festival is an outdoor, one day, multi-session event and continues to grow each year. You'll enjoy great music, food and beer for MOST ages. Over the years, 18,000 people from all over the United States and Canada have included the Festival in their summer plans. Ed Fest 2012, Crazy Mountain Brewery's second annual beer and community festival, will be held at the Riverwalk in Edwards on August 18th from 3pm - 8pm. The participating breweries include: The Fort Collins Brewery, Odell Brewing, New Belgium Brewing, FUNKWERKS, Pateros Creek, CB & Potts, Big Beaver Brewing, Grimm Brothers and 2 others (TBD). This event is OPEN TO THE PUBLIC and will really show off the Camaraderie and Collaboration of some of the best breweries in Northern Colorado. The 7th annual Cha Cha includes a morning trail race for all ages and abilities, a green chile cook off and tasting and a free concert in the park. The Mountain Chile Cha Cha is a no-admission, all day fall celebration. There is a big tent so this event happens rain or shine. There will also be food vendors and cold Mexican beer in the cantina.

The festivities begin at 1pm with live music, regional craft brwers, distillers, and a wide selection of BBQ and festival food form local vendors. The festival and music are free but the beer tasting requires the fee. This is a family and dog friendly event. Bring blankets and frisbees.

High Hops 2nd Annual Hop Harvest

Cost: FREE to participate
Come celebrate the hop harvest and team up to compete to see which 2-person team can pick the most hops. The winning team wins a Quarter Barrel of beer of their choice from their new brewery when it opens in September. For every pound of hops you pick, you get 2oz. Get a coupon for a free sampler tray at High Hops Brewery when you pick at least 2 pounds. Win a High Hops t-shirt or hat. Prizes will also be given for the best costume, so don't forget to dress up for hop picking. Space is limited.

Join in Labor Day weekend as over 50 teams compete to make the most mouth-watering BBQ that you'll find this summer. Lots of cold craft beer will be on hand along with hours of live music. Last call for drinks 30 minutes before close.
