Colorado Beer NewsToday is the official Opening Day of Major League Baseball. Welcome back the Boys of Summer. Now's the time we get visions of hot dogs, beer and Cracker Jack at the ballpark. Go Rockies! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, April 5th, 2012.

Vine Street Pub & Brewery (Denver) - Beginning last night, you can finally purchase Mountain Sun Ales in growlers to take home with you from the Vine Street Pub. After a four-year wait in Denver, the Vine Street Pub has attained all necessary licensing to brew beer, which means you can take Mountain Sun Ales home with you. Kevin Daly, founding owner of the Mountain Sun Pubs and Breweries, drove down their first shipment of growlers to begin immediate sales of to go beer. "I'm so excited," Kevin said, "I hope I don't get a speeding ticket on my way there. I have goose bumps." Beer to go comes in two sizes: 1/2 gallons = $17.00 + tax, and 1/4 gallons = $9.00 + tax. Vine Street is now an official brewery!

Crystal Springs Brewing (Boulder) - Will and Coral at Cured, 1825 Pearl Street are hosting a tasting of Crystal Springs beers this Saturday, April 7th from 1pm to 3:30pm. Crystal Springs will be serving up their Summertime Ale (great for days like last weekend), their Doc's Porter (great for a day like last Monday) and their Black Saddle Imperial Stout (great for days like last Tuesday) AND, if all goes as planned, they'll be offering a couple treats that may cover some of the other days. If you haven't been to Cured yet, you should. Will and Coral offer some of the finest cured meats, cheeses, breads, locally made beers, wines and spirits you can find. And they do so with a vast knowledge of their offerings, big smiles and genuine caring.

Asher Brewing (Boulder) - This small Colorado brewery was recently featured on HLN/CNN and now the video of that segment is up on YouTube. Here's the story as it aired on TV yesterday:

Odell Brewing (Fort Collins) - Don't forget - Saturday, May 26th is the date set for this year's Small Batch Festival at Odell Brewing Company. Over 20+ different small batch beers in addition to some of their regulars. More details to come shortly!

Baseball in America - Hey Baby - Its Opening Day for Major League Baseball in America today. Head to your nearest ballpark and enjoy a nice beer! Crazy Mountain Brewery (Edwards) - Denver: Tomorrow night (Friday, April 6th) at Star Bar is "Meet the Brewer", featuring 3 Crazy Mountain beers on draft and Grant Smith, head brewer. Stop by from 6pm to 10pm to say hi to Grant and drink some Hookiebobb IPA, Cara de Luna Black Ale and Old Soul Strong Belgian Golden Ale.

New Label Approvals - The TTB recently approved these labels for Colorado Breweries including those from Dry Dock Brewing and Bristol Brewing Company.

New Belgium (Fort Collins) - Rumor has it that New Belgium will announce their 2nd location this afternoon or else have it announced by the Governor of North Carolina. Stay tuned. Also, New Belgium will be collaborating with another music group to produce a beer call New Belgium Front Porch Lounger Peach Ale. Reportedly, New Belgium and G. Love will put this beer out by August 2012. Plus, a keg label just got approved for a brew called Colorado Wet Hop India Pale Ale from New Belgium. Look for it on tap in Fort Collins and other locations possibly soon. Update: It's CONFIRMED!!! New Belgium has selected Asheville, NC. (Press Release)

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Beer event alert for Thursday, April 12th from 8pm to 9:30pm - If you have not checked out Pizza Bar 66 in beautiful downtown Lyons, what are you waiting for? Ok, maybe you were waiting for a 400 lb. Monkey. PB66 always has a great selection of beer available and on this appointed date a sweet little cask pin O’Monkey, Left Hand’s English style IPA. With your first pint you’ll receive a logo pint glass to keep and a ticket with each pint for a chance to win BEER FOR A YEAR!

Elevation Beer Company (Poncha Springs) - Come get a taste of Elevation's latest beers in a firkin tasting at Boathouse Cantina in Salida, Colorado on Friday, April 13th from 4pm to Close. Taste exciting new firkins and draft beers from Elevation including: Mount Blanca (Belgian Saison(, First Cast (India Pale Ale) and Imperial Saison. There will also be giveaways with shirts, stickers, and logo pint glasses (1st 20 to buy a pint of the firkin).
