Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Stress Awareness Day. Monday is stressful enough after a long weekend, so do yourself a favor and do something relaxing today. Why not unwind later today with a your favorite craft beer? That's one way to help de-stress yourself. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, April 16th, 2012.

Brewery Openings (Colorado) - It was a busy weekend as two breweries officially opened their doors. One brewery has actually been in business for 4 years, but finally became a legal brewery - Vine Street Pub & Brewery in Denver, and up in Frederick, Echo Brewing Company opened for business with 4 new brews on tap. Check the links for news of their openings.

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - Speaking of grand openings, Big Choice Brewing is just over 2 weeks away from opening in Broomfield. They are planning a 3-day Grand Opening Weekend Celebration on May 4th through the 6th. They will open up at 4pm on Friday, May 4th. They are located at 7270 W. 118th Place in Broomfield. Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Last weekend was also the annual Saison Fest 2012 at Trinity Brewing. This sold out event was very popular with the attendees and many palates were expanding during the event. Fellow beer blog "Focus on the Beer" was on hand and did a nice recap of the event. If you missed it this year, be sure to sign up early next year.

Breckenridge Spring Beer Festival (Breckenridge) - Meanwhile up in the mountain this last weekend, the town of Breckenridge held their annual Spring Beer Festival in the streets of ski town. The beer blog "Brewtally Insane" was on hand to cover that festival and took some great shots and a nice write-up of the event. The event was very well attended and will certainly be back next year for another round.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - During the Colorado Craft Beer Radio show on Saturday, the Gubna let it be known that The Tasty Weasel Tap Room is expanding and will soon be opening up an outdoor patio. This patio will be open sometime in early May and allow a lot more room during the warmer months. Look forward to that coming soon!

Upcoming Breweries - What do breweries do months before they open? Among other things they attend grand openings of other breweries. During the Echo Brewing grand opening on Saturday, members of Atom Brewing Company (Erie), Bootstrap Brewing (Niwot) and Nostalgic Brewing Company (Longmont) were in attendance trying the beers, taking notes and talking with fellow brewers about the secrets of opening up their own businesses. They got a chance to talk with members of Mobile Canning LLC (Longmont) who were also in attendance scoping out the new business. It's nice to see the brewing community supporting each other here in Colorado. What other industry do you see such comradery and cooperation amongst competitors?

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - Today at 6pm will be another meeting of the Homebrew & Bottle Collectors Support Group. Their focus for this meeting will be exploring Belgian beers. Everyone is welcome to participate, just bring a beer or dish to share along with your interest in sharing great beer. They meet every 3rd Monday of each month at Avery.

SW Arbor Fest (Grand Junction) - Looking for a fun festival to attend this coming Saturday? Head over to Grand Junction for their SW Arbor Fest. For craft beer lovers, there will be around 20 breweries in attendance pouring beers at the Craft Beer Expo during this festival. Part of the proceeds benefit the Brewers Association. Twisted Pine Brewing (Boulder) - The brewery and tap room at Twisted Pine is about to get a lot bigger, in fact they plan to double the size of their operations to 12,000 square feet. The expansion will give them the capacity to churn out nearly 6,000 barrels up from the 3,500 barrels they brewed in 2011. Twisted Pine will take over new space starting June 1st and the expansion is expected to be completed by July 14th for their 17th anniversary celebration. Black Shirt Brewing (Denver) - According to their latest Facebook update, they are trying to anticipate and be ready for their thirsty fans, so they just placed an order for another 15 barrel conical fermenter! That's another 465 gallons of Red Ale they can brew every few weeks. All the plans for opening are almost there, get ready for details on an opening soon!

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Two Loveland alcohol makers are getting together for a collaboration. Big Beaver Brewing and Dancing Pines Distillery have collaborated to produce the latest batch of Big Beaver's Whiskey Dick Stout. Dancing Pines creates their own Bourbon made from trains of corn, rye and malted barley and is double pot distilled and matured in small American white oak casks. Come try the result of this collaboration in the Big Beaver tasting room.

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - Special tappenings at the Mayor today - they will be tapping a rare keg of Avery's Hand of Buddha tonight for their Men's beer club. Then at 6:30, the awesome Odell Brewing Co will bring in a Firkin of their Coconut Porter for your enjoyment. Come check it out and take a look at their new outdoor patio.

Dry Dock Brewing Company (Aurora) - Their Apricot Blonde bombers are back! Starting today at the brewery at noon you can pick up some bottles. Also arriving in liquor stores this week. Time to stock up.

The Pumphouse Brewery (Longmont) - Today begins their new summer hours, which are: Sun-Wed 11am-10pm, Fri & Sat 11am-11pm. This only pertains to the Pumphouse side and full menu. The Red Zone hours will remain the same.

Ska Brewing (Durango) - The folks from Ska Brewing and Freshcraft (Denver) have a nice project underway. Freshcraft picked up some barrels from Peach Street Distillers and are on their way to Durango to help brew up an Imperial Brown ale with rye to age in the barrels for release during the 2012 GABF in Denver. Look for this in October!
