September 2012September brings the start of cooler weather, Oktoberfest, Fall seasonal beers and the end of the outdoor festival season. There are always plenty of drink and food events going on at most Colorado breweries and entertainment venues as well. This page will be updated often as news of upcoming events are announced.

Here is a list of the upcoming Colorado beer fests, beer dinners, tapping parties, seminars and related events for September 2012. Boulder Brew Festival

Cost: Unlimited samples. $40 advance, $45 at the door, VIP extra.
Over 30 craft breweries will be participating by offering personal education and tastings of some of the most unique brews in the industry coupled with live entertainment and unforgettable memories. Idea for the festival came from Jay Kriner, a pioneer in the beer world, who travels the United States attending brew festivals year round and personally works with the breweries directly. Jay's thought was to bring out the most unique and talented brewers from around the nation to create a more personal brew experience for all brew lovers and assist in exposure of new flavors and breweries in the craft brew industry. What you find at the Boulder Brew and Music Festival is a new view and a unforgettable brew experience! New Belgium's Tour de Fat

Along with New Belgium's exceptional ability to roust a city's inner-cyclist, in 2012 they hope to drive their message even deeper by bringing you the biggest, most enjoyable traveling bike festival that we know of.

Leftapalooza, featuring the Mile High Tribute Band Competition, is back for its second year! Left Hand Brewing Company’s ultimate music and craft beer experience brings together some of the most talented cover acts in the country to help raise funds and support for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. For just $10, concert goers can enjoy a full day’s worth of great music at the brewery as seven bands showcase the talents of U2, Rush, the Grateful Dead, Van Halen, the B-52s, Steely Dan, and Led Zeppelin! The day will also feature the Leftapalooza Chili Fest, local food vendors, kids’ activities, and of course Left Hand beer! All proceeds go to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society.

Colorado Pork and Hops Challenge

The Colorado Pork & Hops Challenge has become one of the top annual events in Western Colorado. On the weekend of September 7th & 8th at Lincoln Park in beautiful Grand Junction, the 2012 Colorado Pork & Hops Challenge kicks off with over 13,000 people coming out for this All-American Family Festival which includes a professional KCBS BBQ competition where over 50 professional BBQ teams from all over the country flock to Grand Junction to compete for over $20,500 in cash and bragging rights. An Amatuer BBQ competition for local contestants will also take place for anyone who thinks their BBQ is the best in the city. There will also be BBQ tasting as well as activities for the whole famil - check back soon for updates. 15th annual Brew at the Zoo

14th Annual Harvest Beer Festival

Join in for a great festival of music, beer, food and friends. Plenty of free transportation to/from the festival from area locations. Fall Festival of Beers & Chili Cook-Off

2012 is the 13th Anniversary of the Annual Mt. Crested Butte Fall Festival of Beers & Chili Cook-off! They're extending the hours this year, showcasing over 20 breweries and more music. This annual event features hot chili and live music with cool microbrews set amidst beautiful mountain scenery.

19th Annual Telluride Blues & Brews Festival
September 14-16, 2012 (Friday - Sunday)

Cost: 3-day pass $170, Juke Joint Passes $25 (Fri. or Sat.), 4-day camping $40.
Renowned as one of the most scenic and intimate music festivals in the country, Telluride Blues & Brews is located within the world-famous resort town of Telluride, Colorado, in the heart of the Rocky Mountains. Blues & Brews is known in Telluride as the ‘locals’ festival, and is a three-day celebration of music and microbrews held in Telluride Town Park, an outdoor music venue with breathtaking 13,000 foot mountains as a backdrop. Firefighter Appreciation Week in Colorado will be observed September 8th – 15th, culminating with the Fight Fire With Beer Festival September 15th in Boulder. The event was created to honor firefighters currently risking their lives battling fires across the state of Colorado as well as to provide an annual non-partisan platform to enable all residents of Colorado to say “thank you” to firefighters who work to keep them safe 365 days a year. At the festival local brewers will be asked to participate in a competition called the Fight Fire With Beer Governor’s Cup, which will be judged by Colorado fire chiefs and Governor Hickenlooper. The winning brewery will have the honor of creating the “Official” Fight Fire With Beer beer, which will be featured in bars, restaurants, and made available for retail sale the entire year - until a new winner is selected. Proceeds will be donated to provide fire education throughout the state.

42nd Annual Oktoberfest Denver

Since 1969, this has been one of Colorado's oldest Oktoberfest celebrations. They've blocked off several streets so you can have fun downtown near Coors Field. Come hear live music, see the Long Dog Derby, 5K Das Hustlehoff races, Stein Hoisting challenge, fun for the kids too, authentic German food vendors and plenty of great beer!

FORToberfest is a new event celebrating everything great about Fort Collins! The city’s music scene, rich history of beer brewing, and extremely active bicycle culture help give character to the Downtown area and to Fort Collins. FORToberfest will help bring the three elements of our Fort Collins popular culture together in this new fall event, bicycles, beers and bands. FORToberfest will host a Pro/Am beer element where local home brewers will be paired with professional brew masters and given the opportunity to brew and pour their beer alongside the large breweries. The event will host a beer hall type tent dedicated to this unique Fort Collins seasonal beer extravaganza. Seasonal beers will be offered at the festival integrating the rush of Oktoberfest and produce-related brewing happening throughout the late summer and early fall months. Other beer activities will include a local version of the national Samuel Adams’ Octoberfest Stein Hoisting Contest where contestants must hold a huge stein filled with beer for a period of time, hoping to win both a title and prizes. And of course Colorado music is prominent throughout all that Downtown Fort Collins does. FORToberfest will feature Fort Collins and Colorado bands from funk to bluegrass and rock to indie. 1st Annual Lafayette Craft Brew & BBQ Festival

Join in on Saturday, September 22nd, 2012 from noon to 6:00pm for the 1st Annual Lafayette Craft Brew & BBQ Festival. The festival is located in the Atlas Valley Shopping Center (95th & Arapahoe). Tickets are $30 for beer and BBQ, or $20 for just the BBQ only. Live music will be featured from 4 different bands. Proceeds benefit the YMCA of Boulder Valley Scholarship Fund. Come join us for two days of bikes, music, beer and festivities! An epic event to benefit an epic cause. Town Park will be alive will all things bicycle. The Festival portion of our event is family friendly and put together for you to relax and enjoy. The festival happens all day long in town park right at the finish area. Several food vendors will be on hand with everything from smoothies and sandwiches to burgers and fries. Breckenridge Brewery and Pagosa Brewing Co. are beverage sponsors and will be here with their amazing brews (yes you have to buy them) but cool and refreshing none the less! 4th Annual Fall Harvest Brewfest

Autumn Gold - A Festival of Bands, Brats & Beer

Aspens turn to a golden hue. The sounds of elk bugles reverberate throughout the air. It’s a perfect season for one of Estes Park’s late-autumn traditions when a series of bands herald Autumn Gold – a Festival of Bands, Brats & Beer, scheduled for Sept. 22 and 23, 2012. Cold beer, soft drinks, hot cider, bratwursts and hot dogs and all the accompaniments are served throughout both days beginning at 10 am. The bands rev up at 11 am and the bluegrass, folk, rock and jazz sounds continue until 5 pm each day.

Hop Nouveau Day

Tis the time to celebrate fresh hop beer! Hop Nouveau Day celebrations can be held anywhere in the world! Can't find an event - organize one! The general premise for the development of celebrations is to involve and include local and regional communities and businesses. All events shall be scheduled to commence at 12 noon mountain standard time. The central event shall last until 3 to 4pm at which time event participants will be directed to visit area businesses, restaurants, bars, art galleries, retail shops, etc for Hop Nouveau food paring and continued tasting. Events should be develop and showcase these fresh hop creations through out the following week at different locations.

Boulder Beer Anniversary Beer Rave

Boulder Beer Company is celebrating 33 years as a brewery and they are once again throwing a big party. They'll be tapping 12 small-batch, barrel-aged and pilot brews plus inviting a couple dozen other breweries to bring their "underground beer" - stuff you normally won't see on store shelves. Live music by Dylan & The Dead. This event is also a fundraiser for the Danny Williams Fund. Tickets are available at BoulderBeer.com.

Grimm Brothers Oktoberfest and Beer Release

Join in the seasonal celebration of Oktoberfest at Grimm Brothers. There'll be a big party in the parking lot and inside the tap room. They'll be releasing their Farmer's Daughter Oktoberfest beer and hosting live music from Wendy Woo (2pm) and The Stubby Shillelaghs (5pm). Participate in the Pretzel Eating Contest at 2:30pm, a Children's Dance Contest and Face Painting at 3pm, a Men's Keg Race at 4pm, a Women's Stein Hosting/Serving Contest at 6pm, a Women v.
