Colorado Beer NewsToday is Venus Transit Day. The planet Venus will cross the face of the sun starting at 4:09pm MDT. This will be the last time until the year 2117 that humans will be able to witness this rare event. Be sure you have some safe solar viewing screens and you'll be able to see a large dot cross the face of the sun until sunset. Just remember never to look directly into the sun without proper protection. Sunglasses won't protect your eyes. Choice City Butcher & Deli (Fort Collins) - Tomorrow, Wednesday, June 6th at 5pm - Harbinger Coffee & Choice City Butcher team up to bring you a unique, first of its kind tasting event. Four exquisite coffees will be paired with four fantastic beers. Each coffee will be brewed to order by Jonathan of Harbinger, and each beer hand picked by Russ. Cranknstein (Fort Collins) - It's Tandem Tuesday at Cranknstein. Bike-in on a tandem bike and get "buy-one-get-one". Anyone solo riding in on a bike gets $1 off their first draught beer. The power of the pedal!

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) is continuing their food & beer pairing summer events with a fundraiser for the Vail Valley Volunteer Connection (VailValleyVolunteers.com), an online non-profit resource for people who are looking to help out their community by volunteering. The beer dinner will be at Dish restaurant in Edwards on Tuesday, June 12th from 6pm - 8pm. Tickets are $50 for 5 courses and 5 beers.

Telluride Brewing Company (Telluride) - Want to earn some beer? If you're in Telluride today, they are in need of some help with their canning operations. If you can come in for a few hours or even an hour you will earn some FREE BEER! Call the brewery if you can help out - (970) 728-5094.

Denver Comic Con (Denver) - Are you headed to the Denver Comic Con on June 15th through the 17th at the Colorado Convention Center? If you are, be sure to attend the special Friday night event called the Denver Comic Con Four Color Mixer. Hang out with Comic Con stars and sip on some awesome adult beverages (including beer). Tickets include a commemorative Fantastic Pour pint glass, gourmet catering and a film screening. Tickets are $50 and are available off the denvercomiccon.com web site.

Steamworks Brewing (Durango) - Race organizers for the Steamworks-Animas Valley Half-Marathon, on Saturday June 9th, 2012, are looking for more volunteers to help with the race. Those who volunteer will be invited along with the marathoners to a post-race craft beer and burger BBQ lunch at the Sports Club, catered by Steamworks. Bristol Brewing Company (Colorado Springs) - on Saturday June 9th from 12pm to 9pm, they will be tapping a Yellow Kit Pilsner dry hopped with chiles for their Cask of the Week. Stop in for a pint and say hello. And stay tuned for two new Belgian-style beers coming in 750ml bottles - a Tripel and a Dubbel.

Pikes Peak Brewing (Monument) - Several events are being planned at PPBC. On Sunday, June 17th from 5pm to 8pm, come listen to The Indulgers as they kick-off the first of three Summer Sunday Concerts. On Wednesday, June 20th, join in for an outdoor Brewer's Dinner from 6pm to 8pm. Cost is $40 per person and 24 seats available. On Thursday, June 21st, they'll release the 2nd edition of the Summit House Barrel Stout. This beer has more subtle notes of whiskey and oak than the 1st batch. Then on Saturday, June 23rd stop in for an Anniversary Belgian IPA release. A special brew made with Amarillo hops. Then stay for a Family Picnic from 4pm to 7pm. Brats and live music. The brats dinner is free!

Oskar Blues (Lyons) - The weekend is coming and so is another edition of the Burning Can Beer Fest. This time the fest is teaming up with the Lyons Outdoor Games and will be part of the weekend festivities. The Burning Can Beer Fest will take place on Saturday, June 9th 2012 from 12pm to 4pm in Bohn Park in Lyons, CO. Tickets are on sale online now for $25 (plus fees). Or you can get tickets at the fest for $30. Over 25 breweries will be bringing their canned craft beers for this event. Some are not sold here in Colorado. For more info check the O.B. website.

Beer Drinker's Guide to Colorado (6th Edition) - The famous Beer Drinker's Guide to Colorado map is now out with their 6th edition. Details on over 168 breweries and drinking establishments are included on the new edition just released including a coupon book with coupons for several dozen FREE beers. Funkwerks (Fort Collins) is releasing a new beer this Thursday, June 7th! Codename: Ron Burgundy was based on an Oud Brune recipe, but instead of fermenting it with a mixed culture of yeast and bacteria, which would have produced a sour beer, we fermented it with a Belgian yeast and aged it in French oak red wine barrels for several months.

Oktoberfest Denver - For those of you counting the days, only 108 more days until the 43rd Annual Denver Oktoberfest in the LoDo area of Denver. Prost!

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Today on their Facebook page, Trinity Brewing was showing off a new label for their upcoming brew called: Capitaine Petite Bouddha - Saison Regal. This beer was aged on French oak barrels, fermented with several brett and lacto strains and brewed with copius pumpkin, cocao nibs and Bhuddha's Hand (a fruit). Look for this beer coming soon.

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Now back in stock! City Star just got another shipment in of those 32oz flip top bottles. Now you can take some City Star brew home with you. Ask for it at their taproom.

Kokopelli Beer Company (Westminster) - One of Colorado's many micro breweries in development is making progress towards opening. This week they took delivery of their new 1 barrel test and pilot brewing system. Stay tuned for news on when they plan to open this new micro brewery and micro restaurant.

Great Divide Brewing (Denver) - Today at the brewery, Great Divide bottled and kegged their new Doppelbock lager called Wolfgang. This brew will be available in 22oz foil top bomber bottles and in 5 gallon kegs. Look for this beer to be released soon. It's a seasonal that knows no season.
