Colorado Beer NewsToday is Name Your Poison Day. It used to mean having to choose between the lesser of many evils, but nowadays it refers to having your choice of alcoholic beverages. It's Friday, so head to your nearest brewery or watering hold and pic your poison, whatever it may be. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, June 8th, 2012.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Wholey Smoke BBQ will be back at the brewery on Saturday, June 9th, starting at 2pm. You will get your choice of ½ lb. chicken, brisket, or pulled pork sandwich, two sides, and one beer. Big Beaver will have suggested Beer/BBQ pairings, and an opportunity to sample each of their beer BBQ sauces with the meat to decide your favorite before purchasing a plate! The BBQ sauces will also be available to buy; $4 for a half pint of handcrafted, all natural sauce made with the finest beer around! Choose from: Virgin Beaver (Wheat Mustard), Old Beaver (Original IPA), Hot Ass Beaver (Spicy Chili), and Sweet Beaver (Sweet Porter).

Pug Ryan's Steakhouse and Brewery (Dillon) - Today marks the first Dillon Farmer's Market. If you're up in the Dillon area come check it out, then head to Pug Ryan's and check out their new sunny deck for lunch or just for a brew.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - It's going to be a real hot one today. Stop in to Grimm Brothers for a nice cool one. You can also pick up some food from the Giggling Greek foot truck there today.

Pagosa Folk 'N Bluegrass Festival - Are you headed down to Pagosa Springs this weekend? If so you're in luck, there will be the Pagosa Folk 'n Bluegrass Festival going on starting at 5pm on Friday and lasting the weekend. Several breweries will be pouring down there. Grab a brew and enjoy the music. Here's more info.

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - Looking for that perfect gift for Father's Day next week? How about giving Dad this: BEER FOR A YEAR. He'll get a Big Choice growler with a 21.5oz BCB glass with 12 growler fills (1 a month). A $140 value all for just $100. That should keep Dad happy for a while! While your there buying him a gift today, stay for Happy Hour from 4pm to 6pm and get $1 off a pint for yourself.

Wits End Brewing (Denver) - Thanks to the support of all their fans, Wit's End is announcing their first big expansion. They recently bought two of Strange Brewing Company's 3 BBL fermenters. Once those tanks are online they will be able to nearly double their output! THey hope they are as good to them as they were to Strange Brewing. (Gotta love the cooperation between brewers in Colorado).

Wynkoop Brewing (Denver) - There's a new collaboration brew on tap made from the efforts of Wynkoop Brewing, New Belgium, and Infinite Monkey. The Wynkoop is now serving Brewjolais Nouveau, a beer-meets-wine mashup they brewed with one of their heroes, Peter Bouckaert of New Belgium Brewing. It's the most outside-the-lines beer they've ever brewed, it's a hybrid sour brown ale fermented with 1200 pounds of cabernet grapes, then aged in wine barrels for several months. It's 9.6% ABV and features lush flavors of grapes, malt, sour-brown tang and oak, all in a gloriously garnet/deep purple beer. Full details at the Wykoop blog.

Coopersmith's Pub & Brewing (Fort Collins) - Construction has been going on since April on their new Mountain Avenue addition to the Poolhall. This new addition is currently getting some new flooring put in today and should be ready to open later in June. It's in the old space previously occupied by O'Hairs Salon. Stay tuned for more news on this expanded space for Coopersmith's.

Denver Rare Beer Tasting IV (October 12, 2012) - According to a post on Beeradvocate's forums today: "We will be holding the 2012 edition of this popular event on Oct. 12, while the Great American Beer Festival is taking place. All About Beer Magazine is our partner for this event, featuring rare, exotic and vintage beers from 32 of America’s finest breweries. Tickets are $100 and go on sale June 17 at Noon (ET). Guests receive the chance to sample some truly amazing beers and meet the people who brew them. Each ticket holders receive a commemorative tasting glass, program, t-shirt and buffet lunch. Once again this year we will feature a silent auction with interesting beer related experiences and collectables (sic) up for bid. Craft Beer on the Radio - Two of Colorado's craft beer radio programs are broadcasting this Saturday from 12noon to 2pm. First, American Craft Beer Radio and co-host Ed Sealover will be live at Black Street Tavern in Denver. Catch him and host Gary Valliere on 102.3 FM Denver. Also from 12pm to 2pm on AM 760 Denver, it's the Colorado Craft Beer Show with hosts John Turk and the Gubna from Oskar Blues. They'll be remoting live up at the Burning Can Beer Festival in Lyons, CO at Bohn Park. Listen close as you'll probably hear yours truly (Dave Butler) stopping in to say hello during the broadcast. Catch all your latest beer news this Saturday. Live on the air or via the Internet via live steaming.

Echo Brewing (Frederick) - Their Ice Mountain IPA and their Irish red are back on tap along with 4 other beers. Stop in for dinner as the Ablaze Food Trick will be on site from 5pm to 9pm.

Elevation Beer Company (Poncha Springs) - Come on out to the Boathouse Cantina in Salida, CO for their first Firkin Friday of the summer. They are excited to be pouring their 11% ABV Imperial Stout. This is your only chance to get this beer cask conditioned until this winter!

Garden Grapes and Hops (Denver) - The Denver Botanic Gardens is once again hosting a summer party event tonight from 5pm to 11pm. There will be food, drink and live entertainment while to soak up the natural beauty around you. Tickets still available. Check out the website here for more details.

Hogshead Brewery (Denver) - Ever wonder what's up with the upcoming Hogshead Brewery? Here's a message from their fearless leader: "Hello all! We appreciate all the friend posts and the support. As you know we have been very busy trying to open. It is a big deal for us and we can not wait to share it with everyone who supports us. Look for the open sign and come on in! Until then we will keep you posted. Once again thank you for your support!"
