Colorado Beer NewsToday is Crowded Nest Awareness Day. Let's face it - kids tend to not leave the nest as early as they used to. Many of them return home after college due to lack of employment. Even grandparents are raising their grandkids more often these days. Here's to those people who do what they can to support their extended term families. Cheers! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, June 12th, 2012.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - There's an upcoming beer release tasting event scheduled for Wednesday, June 20th at 6:00pm at Grimm Brothers. Come get a taste of their "Briar Rose", a Helles beer brewed by a homebrewer Cy Bevenger. Briar Rose is a clean refreshing, malty light lager dominated by a grainy pilsner flavor accompanied by a low noble hop aroma and flavor. It has a light lager character and a full flavor perfect for those hot Colorado days.

Telluride Brewing (Telluride) - Expansion plans are in the works for Telluride Brewing Company and could happen by sometime this fall. The brewery has only been open less than a year but already the pace of business is accelerating their plans. The expansion would include adding a new canning line by the end of summer. Distribution would also be expanded to the Front Range of Colorado in the fall. While they only can their Bridal Veil Rye Pale Ale at the moment, they have plans to also can their Tempter IPA.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - Alabama will soon be the next state that Oskar Blues will distribute to starting at the end of June of this year. In order to keep their distribution expanding, Oskar Blues had previously announced that they were opening up a 2nd brewery in Brevard, North Carolina as early as by the end of this year. In other news, Oskar Blues also have a new draft brew available at select locations. This beer is called REEB Ride IPA, a beer names for it's REEB Cycles business.

Great Divide Brewing (Denver) - Look who's of legal age! Great Divide is turning 18 and is celebrating with an anniversary party this coming Saturday at the brewery. Part of the celebration will include the release of their new doppelbock called Wolfgang (7.9% ABV). This brew will be available in 22oz bombers bottles and kegs. The beer replaces their Smoked Baltic Porter in their seasonal offerings and will be available from late June through September. This beer was produced initially on their 7-barrel pilot system.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Recently, Focus on the Beer spoke with Trinity Brewing on some of their upcoming beers. One beer is called "Oh Face Saison Provisional", an ale brewed with Brettanomyces and has spelt, oats, rye, wheat, pumpkin, buddha's hand (fruit), lavender & spices. This beer will be bottled but with a limited distribution. Another beer in the works is called Capitane Petite Bouddha - a blonde saison. This beer was inspired in part by the 2011 collaboration beer Buddha Nuvo. This beer will also be bottled yet with a limited distribution. Lastly, Trinity plans to do a collaboration beer with Black Fox Brewing, one of the last beers Black Fox will do before their move to Denver. The beer will be called "Le Petite Morte Trajet" - aka "Little Death Ride". This beer partially refers to the end of the Mayan calendar this year.

Aspen Brewing Company (Aspen) - Come check out the new home of Aspen Brewing Company this Friday and Saturday from 2-6PM, located at 404 Aspen Airport Business Center. Come see where Aspen’s brews are made, bottled and canned! Please resist the temptation to drive, they have very limited parking! Take any down-valley bus to the Airport Business Center or ride a bike! Their 404 AABC building is located in the back of the ABC between Louis Swiss Pastry/European Catering and Cracks & Racks/King Yoga. *Not to be mistaken for their down-town tasting room (304 E. Hopkins Ave) which is open every day from noon to late and serving all of their brews as well as beer to go in cans, bottles and growlers!

The Pumphouse Brewery (Longmont) - Move over ladies, it's not your day. In fact, it's Guys Day today at The Pumphouse Brewery. Today, guys can get $2.50 house pints all day long. Their featured Beer of the Day is their Cherry Wheat. It's gonna be a hot one out there today so stop in for a cold one.

Dillon Dam Brewery (Dillon) - Stop in the brewery today at 5:00pm as they tap a 5 gallon keg of the Brewmaster's Special Stash. This beer runs $5 for a half pint (yes its that special) and goes kill the keg kicks. June's beer is Whiskey Barrel-aged Vanilla Coffee Stout. Then on Thursday, it's Open Acoustic Night hosted by Kendrick. Perform your own acoustic, comedy, poetry or other talent at the DAM brewery. Thursdays is also Ladies Night. Free 1/2 pints for the ladies from 9pm to 11pm.

- Upslope Beer Dinner - June 17, 2012 - Lou's Food Bar - Denver, CO.
- Avery Beer Dinner - June 17, 2012 - Russell's Smoke House - Denver, CO.

Gnarly Barley Brew Festival (Loveland) - It's just over 52 days away - got your tickets yet? This year's Gnarly Barley will be bigger and better than ever. It's scheduled for Saturday, August 8th, 2012 from 1:00pm to 6:00pm at the Larimer Country Fairgrounds aka The Ranch. Tickets are $15 and include a sampling mug and 7 sampling tokens. Additional tokens are $1 each. Also VIP passes go for $55 and include sampling mug and unlimited 4oz samples, an early entry at 12:30pm, access to the VIP tent with food and specialty beers, a t-shirt and pint glass. Don't miss it.
