Colorado Beer NewsToday is It's So Hot Day. How hot is it? It's so hot, I saw people in the unemployment line holding signs saying "Will Work For Shade". It's supposed to be the 5th day in a row over 100 degrees here along the front range of Colorado. To beat the heat, instead of drinking a cold craft beer today, better drink two. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, June 26th, 2012.

Red White and Brews (Pagosa Springs) - This event is a Fourth of July music festival / beer garden being held in downtown Pagosa Springs, Colorado in Yamaguchi Park on July 4, 2012 from 3pm til the fireworks fly and then some. A portion of proceeds raised at the festival will go toward the Pagosa Springs fireworks fund! They've invited some of Colorado's finest breweries to the party such as New Belgium, Coors, Ska Brewing and Breckenridge Brewery. Non-stop music will keep you rockin' for hours. Echo Brewing (Frederick) - Stop by the taproom at Echo Brewing this Saturday for some great specials. From 11am to 2pm get $1 off all pints. Listen to American Craft Beer Radio as Gary V and company do a live remote from the taproom from 12 noon to 1pm. Echo Brewing will be tapping their Powder Daze Pale Ale that day and will be giving away some nice prizes and giveaways. Hungry? Get your fill from the Ablaze and Moo Mobile foot trucks on site. Plenty of room in their big taproom to get out of the heat.

Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew (Denver) - Word came down thanks to Jonathan Shikes on Westword that a new 1-barrel nano-brewery is planning to open in Denver in August. Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew will be located at 2810 Larimer Street in Denver, CO. They've started up a website at: ourmutualfriendbrewing.com and also a Facebook page. The brewery is owned by Brandon Proff, Bryan Leavelle and Andrew Strasburg. Stay tuned for further news as it develops.

River North Brewery (Denver) - The brewery will be open all week long for the Rockies home stand starting at 5pm Tuesday and noon on Thursday for the early game. Also, it's time for their second rendition of Barrel-Aged Wednesdays. This week they will tap 5 gallons of J. Marie Saison aged in Chardonnay starting at 3pm til it's gone. They'll also have another new beer for you to preview on Wednesday - Avarice Belgian Imperial Stout! Lastly, this weekend they will have two new bomber bottle releases of their Unified Theory (oak-aged imperial wit) and their Whiskey-aged J. Marie Saison.

Dry Dock Brewing (Aurora) - The brewery is in desperate need of 5 gallon kegs. If you know of any yet-to-be returned Dry Dock 5 gallon kegs please return them to the brewery as soon as possible. When you return them they will give you your deposit back and buy you a free beer as well! Thanks for helping them out and keeping their 5 gallon keg business going.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - According to the Boulder Daily Camera, Oskar Blues recently raised over $4500 to help the victims of the High Park fire by donating a dollar from each pint sold during a special event over the weekend. (Thanks to all you thirsty supporters) - The brewery also served up over 180 meals to displaced families at the Budweiser Events Center in Loveland via their Bonewagon food truck.

The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - From 7:00pm - 8:30pm tonight they will be hosting the WordPress MEET-UP Group in their Community Room. This group is for lovers of WordPress. Whether you blog, design, code, sell, or anything in between, if you use WordPress then you belong there. Even if you're just interested in finding out more about this powerful piece of software, please feel free to join in!

Del Norte Brewing (Denver) - Here's a tip from the Hopped Up Dames, Del Norte is looking for volunteers to help out in July at several brewfests, including a band party at the brewery on July 7th, also for Blues and Brews (South Pearl - 3 locations to serve) July 14th, Summer Brew Fest in Denver July 27th and Kyle's Brew Fest at Boulder Beer July 28th. Check with the brewery if you'd like to help out.

Greeley Beef Fest (Greeley) - No, it's not a beer fest, it's a BEEF fest. The Greeley Tribune is hosting its 1st Greeley Beef Fest on July 14th at the Family FunPlex. The event includes a beef cook-off competition, a BEER GARDEN, an art show, and a free music concert by Austin Wahler and other groups. The event is located at 1501 65th Avenue in Greeley, CO. The event runs from 11am to 6pm or later. Food vendors on hand starting at noon. The Backyard Beer Garden opens at noon as well. Music plays all day and Austin Wahlert performs at 5:30pm. The art exhibit runs from 11am-6pm. Event is free to attend.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) will be a major sponsor of The Denver Post's Underground Music Showcase, a 4-day music showcase festival happening between July 19th through the 22nd at several venues around Denver, Colorado. There will be over 300 bands performing at over 20 different venues. Breckenridge Brewery will be pouring beers for all thirsty fest goers. They expect over 13,000 people to attend performances this year. More info on this festival at: www.theums.com.

The Rockslide Brewery (Grand Junction) is hosting a tapping party for their RYE IPA this Thursday, June 28th at the brewery at 9:00pm. Come try Zorba's newest creation on the back patio! There will be live music, and each pint of RYE IPA will only be $2. This beer is for the hop-heads; rich caramel flavors balance bright citrus and tropical fruit hop notes from extensive dry hopping and conditioning using Centennial, Willamette and (experimental) Bravo hop varieties. Brewed with rye for a spicy dryness that accentuates the blast of bitter found within to really make it pop. Ruby hued thanks to three types of Crystal malt and just a touch of chocolate malt, this concoction is sure to please those after something unique!

Pateros Creek Brewing (Fort Collins) - Come beat the heat today. They now have misters out on the patio to help keep you cooler on a hot day like today. Get $5 growler fills today as well.

Phantom Canyon Brewing (Colorado Springs) - There are three new beers on tap this week! 1) Dampfbier Bavarian Mountain Ale, 2) Goose Rider West Coast Style IPA (around 100 IBUs), and 3) Wrong Trousers English Brown Ale. If you signed up for their newsletter online, look for today's newsletter and see how you can get a FREE beer. That offer expires July 31st. Located at: 2 E. Pikes Peak Avenue in Colorado Springs, CO.

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - The brewers just released their big schedule of Wheat Wednesdays special beers. Starting on June 27th it's Victorian Sunrise Wheat. Other wheat flavors coming: July 4th - Strawberry, July 11th - Cherry, July 18th - Clove, July 25th - Blueberry, August 1st - Ginger, August 8th - Cantaloupe, August 15th - Raspberry, August 22nd - Roasted Peppers. Wednesdays until 6pm is also Meet the Brewer Night too. And more to come through September. Just another reason to visit the Yak & Yeti.

CooperSmith's Pub & Brewing (Fort Collins) - As a token of their appreciation, the firefighters who are battling the High Park fire will get free beer anytime they visit CooperSmith's. (Of course you'll need to prove that you are a firefighter to get it though). Cheers to these brave men and women!

Aspen Brewing Company (Aspen) - It's Tappin' Tuesday and Aspen Brewing is serving up their oak-aged Pyramid Peak Porter. Stop in to try this limited batch before it's all gone. If you're in Aspen tonight, stop by the Limelight Lodge tonight for a beer pairing dinner. Call 970-925-3025 for reservations. Also, they have their Summer Seasonal Hefeweizen available now in 22oz bomber bottles. Stop in to enjoy one on draft then take some home!

Colorado Craft Beer Show (AM 760 Denver) - Stop by Arvada Beer Company this Saturday between 12 noon and 2pm and watch John Turk and guest host Thibault from Breckenridge Brewery do a live remote radio show from the brewery. Guests will include David Parry and crew from Parry's Pizza. They'll have some free giveaways to give out during the show as well as tickets to the upcoming Hops For Habitat.

Colorado Cider Company (Denver) - Announcing a new cider! Colorado Cider Company is having a little "Mel" launch party on Saturday for their newest cider: Pome Mel. It's a apple/honey cider, or "cyser" with a little lavender and rosemary added in. Yummy. They'll be pouring Mel and selling bottles for a dollar off during regular tasting room hours 2:30 to 6:30 June 30th. They are located at: 2650 W. 2nd Ave #10 in Denver, CO.

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - KARMA HOUR is tonight from 5pm to 9pm at the brewery. $1 per pint sold tonight will benefit the Friends of Red Rock Canyon. Friends of Red Rock Canyon is a non-profit advocacy and stewardship organization dedicated to preserving the Open Space for all the citizens to utilize. Doing good never tasted better. Stop in for a pint or two and beat the heat and help out a good cause.

New Belgium (Fort Collins) - The little film festival that could - Clips of Faith - is coming to Boulder, Colorado this Friday evening on the 29th Street Mall. Join in and watch some great amateur homemade films and help to raise money for Community Cycles. The Clips of Faith films embrace many genres, including comedic shorts, animation and environmental documentaries. Some of the selected films for the 2012 tour include: The Canning Queen of the Desert: Classie Parker, a tale about deep conversations in the kitchen; DamNation, highlighting the controversy over water rights in the west; and Foxy Shazam – Unstoppable, a film entirely created with old school theater trickery, puppeteering and black light. Films start around 8:00pm.
