Colorado Beer NewsToday is Sunglasses Day. Whether your future is bright or you wear them at night - today is a day to put on those shades and go outside and soak up some sun (but not too much). It's an awareness day to protect your eyes whenever you step outdoors. It's also Bike To Work Day here in Colorado. Look for additional cyclists on the roads today and share the road. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, June 27th, 2012.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Due to the huge Waldo Canyon Fire affecting Colorado Springs, Trinity Brewing has closed down temporarily as wildfire is affecting their neighborhood. Nearly the entire west side of the Springs north of Fillmore is being evacuated according to Stay tuned for more info on when they will re-open for business. Please keep everyone affected by these fires in your prayers.

Equinox Brewing (Fort Collins) - The Equinox Bike to Work Day station will be open from 3:00pm to 5:00pm today. They have a special Maraschino Cherry O'Rion Irish Red firkin available. It pairs perfectly with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Park in the new bike lot, sign in to get your wristband and find your way to the beer garden. There you will get a free 1/2 pint, beer ice-cream float, or root beer float.

Eddyline Brewing (Buena Vista) - The following message was posted on their Facebook page today and thought it was well stated: "Colorado and many other states are suffering from drought and fire. We may not be able to change the impact of these events but we can help those affected by these events. Support the locally owned businesses in the affected communities and you help reverse the impact of these events. Colorado and other western states are still full of pure mountain air and water and by visiting, you will have a great time while helping the small businesses of those communities. All those in the fire affected areas, hang in there... ".

Denver Beer Company (Denver) - Come down to the brewery by 3:00pm and get your shot at a vertical-horizontal tasting of a '11 and '12 Russian Imperial Stout and a '11 Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout. They'll be giving out all 3 samples for $6. Taste all 3 side by side and see what affect time and wood has on this beer style.

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Yesterday, Bristol Brewing announced that they had cancelled their Bristol Mile event this year due to the fires. Race organizers will be sending information out to all who had registered. Instead, they will be holding a special Karma Hour on Saturday in the tasting room. All day (June 30th), from 9am to 9pm, they'll donate $1 from every pint to the Waldo Canyon Fire Fighters Fund.

Ouray Brewery (Ouray) - For their two-year anniversary Ouray Brewery has created Belgian style versions of three of their flagship recipes – IPA, Rye and Amber. A European twist on their traditional favorites and a super summer brew. These are available for a limited time. Stop by for a cold one. On tap at Ouray Brewery at 607 Main and their Tap Room at 1900 Main (on the river).

Boulder Beer Company (Boulder) - Tickets are now on sale at the Boulder Beer Pub for Kyle's Brewfest on July 28th. It's sure to be a rockin' good time! 60 craft beers and 30 breweries not to mention the music! More info on their website. Also check out the article in the Denver Post about this event.

Freshcraft (Denver) is planning a Boulevard Saison Brett Tapping on Thursday June 28th at 7pm. They'll open the 2012 version at this event. The 2011 version won gold at the GABF last year and this year's brew is highly anticipated. Come try some of this award winning brew. Also sign up for their Summer Food & Beer Pairing Dinner on Wednesday July 18th featuring beers from Funkwerks, Green Flash, Great Divide and Dogfish Head. Get full details on Facebook.

The Forge Publick House (Fort Collins) - Tomorrow, June 28th from 6pm to 8pm, come see Elizabeth from Firestone Walker at the Forge Publick House. Firestone Walker's Wookie Jack will be on tap along with specials on 2011 Parabola and their 15th Anniversary bombers. Find them tucked away in Old Town at 232 Walnut in FoCo.

TRVE Brewing CompanyTRVE Brewing (Denver) - Today marks the official Grand Opening of Denver's newest brewery - TRVE Brewing Company (pronounced true). The doors open at 4pm and they'll be serving up four different beers on tap including: Wanderlust (Belgian American Pale Ale), Prehistoric Dog (Salty Wheat), Black Cascade (Black IPA) and Tunnel of Trees (a piney IPA). There's also some Cvlt memberships still available as well. Basic Kneads (food truck) will be on hand on Broadway. TRVE Brewing is located at 227 Broadway #101 in Denver. (303) 351-1021.

Hogshead Brewery (Denver) - Many of you may not know, but Hogshead Brewery is now indeed open for business. The brewery is located at 4460 W. 29th Avenue in Denver, Colorado. They specialize in English-style beers. Come try their Chin Wag (5.4% ABV), Gilpin Black Gold (dark with coffee and chocolate), and their Lake Lightening (Summer ale). Visit them online at:

KRFC's Bikes and Beer Show (FM 88.9 Fort Collins) - Tune in tonight from 6pm to 7pm on FM 88.9. Taylor from Hops & Berries will be talking with Zach & Gordon about everything that is homebrewing. And yes, they will talk bikes as well. Tune in with a brew and listen.

Who's Denver's Best Brewpub? - The Denver A List is now conducting their Best Of 2012 voting for the best brewpub and best beer selection in Denver. You can vote for your favorite Denver nightlife spot by visiting and voting on the web here. You have until August 17th to cast your vote. Make it count!

Odell Brewing (Fort Collins) - Expansion is happening once again today at Odell Brewing as they are receiving and installing three huge new fermenter tanks today. Check out the photo on Facebook.

Best Breweries in the USA (Poll) - Zymurgy Magazine just released their top Brewery Rankings according to the results of their readers poll with over 16,445 votes. Colorado had 6 out of the top 25 ranked breweries. They are: #6 New Belgium, #12 Avery Brewing, #13 Oskar Blues, #14 Odell Brewing, #16 Great Divide, and #21 Left Hand Brewing. Grats to these breweries for making a big impression on America's homebrewers.

Renegade Brewing Company (Denver) - They've finally done it! Renegade's Ryeteous Rye IPA is now in 16oz cans! Check them out at their anniversary party on Saturday. Available soon in select stores in the Denver area.

Hops & Pie (Denver) - According to an article in the Denver Post online, Hops & Pie, a well known pizza and tap room in Northwest Denver, it planning to open its own brewery. Supposedly, that's been part of their plan since they opened. If all goes according to plan, look for their brewery to open sometime in 2013. They plan to mix it up with a wide variety of styles and offer them up side by side with all the great beers they have on tap now.

Verboten Brewing (Loveland) - The city of Loveland is about to get yet another brewery to its list. This brewery just signed a lease to open at 1550 Taurus Court in Loveland, CO. It will be situated across the street from Dancing Pines Distillery, just within a mile of Grimm Brothers Brewhouse. This brewery plans to be an artisan nano brewery and come up with daily rotating beers on tap. Look for them to be open by the end of 2012 or early 2013.

BierWerks (Woodland Park) - Due to the nearby forest fires, BierWerks has also been forced to close down until conditions change. They hope to re-open just as soon as conditions permit.

Top of the Town Breweries 2012 - 5280 Magazine released their lists of the best or "Top of the Town" businesses this week. Listed under the Diversions category for New Brewery was: Renegade Brewing Company (editor's choice) and Denver Beer Company (reader's choice). Grats to these two breweries for being named among the best in Denver!

Waldo Canyon Fire affecting breweries (Woodland Park / Colorado Springs / Monument) - A brewery that has been in the planning stages, Paradox Brewing Company, may already be in jeopardy. The area around their proposed location is now in the Waldo Canyon fire burn area according to Foam Fest organizers. Also, BierWerks Brewery may also be in harms way from the fire. The folks at Pikes Peak Brewing in Monument are also under a pre-evacuation order and will close early today to let their staff prepare. Stay tuned for more details.
