Eddyline Brewing (Buena Vista) - Concrete is being poured today at Eddyline as they are working on setting up a canopy to go over their new patio. This patio will let everyone keep enjoying their beers only in the shade! Once completed, look for Eddyline to offer up some live music on the patio. Just another reason to head to Buena Vista this summer.

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Colorado breweries are known for giving back and every Tuesday, Copper Kettle Brewing gives $1 of every pint purchased to a different weekly charity as part of their "Pints For Purpose". This month's charities include: Colfax Community Network (July 3rd), Denver Urban Ministries (July 10th), YMCA (July 17th), 4 Paws 4 Life (July 24th), and Food Bank of the Rockies (July 31st). Whenever you visit Copper Kettle on a Tuesday, know that you'll be helping out these charities. Bring a friend and double help even more! Also, mark your calendars for Saturday, July 28th for their debut of their Bacon Brown Ale at 12 o'clock noon. What goes better with beer than Bacon?

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - Pouring over 100 different beers on tap can be sexy! The Mayor of Old Town was just named one of the 5 Best Beer Bars in the 50 States for 2012 by Playboy Magazine. Congrats on this honor. Now I wonder if a visit from the Hef can't be far behind.

Oskar Blues (Lyons/Longmont) - The small original brewery in Lyons put out a small batch of an ale they call Dave's Pale Ale. It's an old-school brew hopped with Columbus and Cascade along with a grain bill that includes Munich and Melanoidin malts and rolled oats. About 5.5% ABV. This is an unfiltered limited batch. It's now on tap at their Home Made Liquids & Solids restaurant in Longmont, CO.

Dry Dock Brewing Company (Aurora) - Their list of Firkin Fridays continue this week. Stop in on July 6th at 3pm for a tapping of a firkin of Kona Coffee Milk Stout. This one won't last long so get some while it lasts.

Hop Shortages? (USA) - Prices for craft beer may start heading up shortly as more reports of hop shortages are being reported. Demand for hops continues to climb as more and more breweries open across the USA. In some cases, reports that certain popular varieties of hops are already sold out until the next crop comes in. The Boston Beer Company, makers of Samuel Adams beers, recently offered up their excess supplies of hops to craft breweries to help take the load off of tightened supplies. Some brewers believe that difficulty in getting hops may also be somewhat artificial as some big hop suppliers are trying to force more brewers into signing into more long-term contracts for hops and aren't offering up as many hops to breweries who don't sign contracts. Still, this summer is proving to be a very hot one. Hopefully we'll see normal hop harvests this year barring any more unusual heat waves.

It's name is "The Meddler - Oud Bruin Ale" and is describes as: "A resurrected style from the Flemish region of Belgium, The Meddler oud bruin is a crafty concoction, comprised of several generations of brown ales, barrel aged and blended. Wild yeast and Lactobacillus meddle with the brew for over 18 months, creating complexity and depth of flavor. Hints of malty sweet chocolate and vanilla toy with a hauntingly sour finish. Intricate yet balanced, The Meddler will leave you craving more of the mysterious brew". This 8.9% ABV beer will be put into wire-cage and corked 750ml bottles. The Artisan Ale Project is Twisted Pine’s year-long celebration of the artistic creativity which makes Colorado unique. Each month in 2012, a different beer is labeled with work by an inspired local artist and a distinctive new beer is born. Available in 750ml bottles and on draft July 7th, 2012.

Crystal Springs Brewing (Boulder) - Thanks to Pat and Ron at Mobile Canning in Longmont, Crystal Springs Brewing is continuing to can their Summertime Ale and the response has been amazing.
