Colorado Beer NewsToday is Workaholics Day. This day was created to honor all those people who show up to work early and stay later than most. This is not to say that they are better workers as studies show they tend to be more ineffective employees and have more health issues. Still, do them a favor today and pull them away from work early and buy them a beer. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, July 5th, 2012.

Great Divide Brewing (Denver) - Grats to Great Divide as their Yeti Imperial Stout was named #43 in the Top Ranked Beer from Zymurgy Magazine and also was named #16 in overall Beer Portfolio. Great Divide came in as #16 in Best Overall Brewery Rankings nationwide. Stop in an congratulate them and try their newest beer Wolfgang, a Doppelbock lager. Great Divide also be pouring at the following festivals this summer: Breckenridge Summer Beer Fest - July 14, Denver Summer Brew Fest - July 27, Cheyenne Frontier Days - July 27, and Louisville Downtown Street Faire - July 27.

Revolution Brewing (Paonia) - Tonight is Open Mic Night at the brewery, hosted by Dr. Noe. Homecoming by Joe White and honoring the brave. Sign-up starts at 4:30pm. Grab a brew and warm up that voice or instrument and join in.

Crystal Springs Brewing (Boulder) - Recently, Crystal Springs has released their South Ridge Amber and Solano chili beer and both were received well by their fans. Look for these beers in 22oz bottles in select locations around Boulder in the next few weeks. Look for a new English Mild ale to make its debut soon. It's a nice sessionable brew just under 4% ABV. They're also brewing up a Russian Imperial Stout during the next week and will be putting it into bourbon barrels until mid-November. It will be a very limited release of just 20 cases (12oz bottles).

Boulder Beer Company (Boulder) - If you happen to be headed to Red Rocks tonight, Friday or Saturday, you'll be able to get a sneak peek at their new Hoopla Pale Ale. They'll have 8 draft lines of Hoopla pouring all weekend.

Cranknstein (Fort Collins) - It's the first Thursday of the month and that means its Skirt and Lipstick night as well as Cascading Draughts! Anyone, and they mean *anyone* who wears a skirt or lipstick will get buy-one-get-one from 7-10pm tonight! Located at: 215 N. College Ave Unit A in Fort Collins, CO. Also starting at 7pm tonight, come listen to the Olson Becher Jazz Duo.

Elevation Beer Company (Poncha Springs) - Here is a video that was taken during Elevation Beer Co's grand opening celebration back in May. Several dignitaries were on hand including Governor John Hickenlooper. Check out the video. It you can't view it here, then check it out on YouTube.

Dolores River Brewery (Dolores) - The folks at Dolores River Brewery have a cure for all things hot and dry - it's a beer they call Baldr Weizen. Come get some, you deserve a remedy for this heat!

Wynkoop Brewing (Denver) - In just over two weeks, several breweries will be headed to the Wynkoop in downtown Denver for a celebration of Belgian-style beers at the United Tastes of Belgium event. The cost is $30 in advance or $37.50 day off. For tickets and more info, visit

Equinox Brewing (Fort Collins) - Hazelnut Eclipse Brown Ale will be pouring from the firkin today! And Josh Schramm, Seattle signer/songwriter, is playing in the beer garden at 6:00pm. Two great ways to shake your 5th of July blues.

Beer Bloggers Conference (Indianapolis) - Well over 100 beer bloggers from all over the country will be descending on Indianapolis between July 13th and July 15th for the third annual Beer Bloggers Conference. Attendees will be listening to keynotes from Garret Oliver of Brooklyn Brewery and also from Julia Herz from the Brewers Association as well as several other topical subjects from bloggers across the country. Several bloggers from Colorado will be in attendance including Dave Butler from Fermentedly Challenged, Eric Steen of Focus On The Beer, Christopher Brunsa nd Nicole Ozawa from Beer in Colorado, Michael Bussmann from The New Belgium Blog, and others. The three day conference will include a Live Blogging event where bloggers will taste and review 10 beers in 50 minutes, plus a live swapping session, a pub crawl of Indy as well as pre- and post- tours of breweries, oh and even a beer festival thrown in for good measure. The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Highlights on Tap. Check out their IHOP Imperial Rye IPA. Everything you could ever dream of in a Rye IPA, available July 13th. Bambastic Rauchbier - this brew is made with 80% beechwood smoked barley and 20% oak wood smoked wheat for a 100% authentic Rauch experience. You’ll have to taste this one to believe it! Arrives in late July. Woody and Berlinerweisse are drying up quickly, come and try them while you can!

Untappd (App/Website) - Due to some issues with their server and the dreaded leap second bug lately, Untappd's web site and thus their app has been mostly unavailable for the last couple of days. They are aware of the issue and are working hard to get it resolved. For more information, read their blog post on the subject.

Fort Collins Jazz Experience (July 10th - 15th) - What goes together better than some jazz music and a nice cool beer? You can get both at next week's Fort Collins Jazz Experience in downtown FoCo. Daily music concerts start off on Tuesday July 10th and last through Sunday the 15th. Starting on Thursday evening you can also get some refreshing Odell's and Breckenridge brews on tap in Old Town Square during the concerts. Bring your own chairs and enjoy the concerts across many venues. Many concerts are free and some locations charge a cover charge. On Saturday, July 14th there will be a beer garden open from 11am to 10:30pm on the Oak Street Plaza & Old Town Square. Come check it out. Details at the official website.
