Colorado Beer NewsToday is Dave Butler's Birthday. The author of Fermentedly Challenged turns another year older today, 53 can you believe it?. Cheers to all my readers, brewers, retailers and bar owners out there that make the blog worth doing. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, July 18th, 2012.

Bonfire Brewing (Eagle) - Work continues on expanding their brewery in Eagle, Colorado at the Brush Creek Industrial Center. Work has been going on since late Spring on the expansion and things are starting to come together. You can follow their progress in picture on their Facebook page in an album entitle: Building a Bigger Bonfire.

Renegade Brewing Company (Denver) - Word on the street says that Renegade is hiring someone to work part-time in their taproom as a beer server. Must have a passion for craft beer. If you feel you're qualified for taproom duty, inquire with your cover letter and resume to Hurry, they are filling this position quickly.

Untappd (Beer App) - Recently, the folks at Untappd pushed out a brand new version of their popular beer tracking app for iOS and Android. It's a new design with new features and performance. Android users, be sure to get the latest patch if you downloaded it yesterday when it came out.

Rock Bottom Brewery (Denver) is halfway to their $5,000 goal for The Delores Project! Order their Summer Honey Ale and order off the summer menu and you're dining for a great cause; providing services for homeless women in Denver!

Summer Brew Fest (Denver) - Tickets are selling fast for the July 27th beer festival in Denver, Colorado. All VIP tickets have been SOLD OUT. Only General Admission tix are still available. Get yours while they still last! Visit for details.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Today at 4pm they release Dragon Slayer, a Rauchbier style smoked lager. Grimm snuck a few kegs in at Loveland Loves BBQ over the weekend and feedback was tremendous. Now its your turn. Stop by starting at 4pm, as popular as this was over the weekend, this beer won't last long.

Bristol Brewing Company (Colorado Springs) - It's Humpday and that means you can get $1 off all jug (a.k.a. growler) fills all day today. Stop in and take some home with you. Also tomorrow, July 19th at 5pm, stop in for the Bristol RyePA release party.

Horsefly Brewery (Montrose) - Today is the last day they can't sell beer after a small break that started July 14th. Their taps will be back up tomorrow and the beer will be flowing once again. Stop in and celebrate with them at Main in Motion in Montrose, CO.

Odell DeconstructionOdell Brewing (Fort Collins) - Today on their Facebook page, Odell Brewing teased that their Deconstruction (wine barrel aged beer) was being reconstructed and would be returning in late August. To be bottle conditioned in 750 corked bottles and made by the some of the best brewers in the state.

Outdoor Food Vendors (Fort Collins) - New regulations recently passed in Fort Collins that will make it easier for food trucks to do business in the city. Soon we'll all be seeing even more variety showing up outside at our local brewery tap rooms. Fort Collins is now allowing an increased number of licenses and simplifying the application process. Voss Farms Colorado (Arvada) - Here's the latest news on this year's hop crop. Hops are really maturing now. They look great and recent rains have helped. Sorry they have no pictures right now, but they will post them soon on Facebook. Expected start of Harvest: July 28 for Willamette and/or Centennial. This could push to August 3... have to see how the lupulin and cones have developed next week.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Their last BBQ with Wholey Smoke rocked, and so will this one this weekend! As always, Big Beaver will have suggested Beer/BBQ pairings, and an opportunity to sample their Big Beaver Beer BBQ sauces with the meat to decide which is your favorite! For $12 you will have the option of choosing either a brisket, chicken, or pork sandwich + beans, coleslaw, and cornbread + any beer you want! With such delicious BBQ and a smokin' good deal, it's sure to be a finger lickin' good time. Stop by this weekend!

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - Coming Friday - a collaboration brew with the Arvada homebrewing club Hoptonogood. Black IPA’s are a fairly new style of beer, in fact their name is sometimes referred to Cascadian Dark Ale and other variations because the test of time hasn’t decided what to call this emerging style. This Black IPA has 6.6%ABV, 120IBUs and is black, (50SRM). Not that you need a good reason to drink beer at 4PM on Friday July 20th, but this is when the beer will be on draft. Come meet the members of the club who helped brew the beer and ask all the questions you want. Stop by to at least congratulate them on a beer well-done!

Crazy Mountain Brewery (Edwards) - Come up to the Crazy Mountain Brewery's Open House & Pig Roast this Saturday, July 21st from 6pm to 10pm. You can get $2 pints and listen to live music. And not to mention taste some great roasted pork. Weeeee! Weeee, weeeee!
