Colorado Beer News 080112 continued

Welcome to Page Two of today's Colorado Beer News. With so much news going on these days it often needs a second page. Here's more of what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, August 1st, 2012. More news being added to this page throughout the day til 3:00pm MDT. Pateros Creek Brewing Company (Fort Collins) - Announcing the next in their Bag The Peaks limited edition India Pale Ales - Blanca Peak. Blanca Peak IPA is known as a White IPA. This is a Belgian witbier on hop steroids, a new style that merges coriander and orange zest with piney, citrusy American hops. This peak is located in the Sangre de Cristo range near the town of Alamosa. Blanca, Little Bear, Ellingwood and Mt. Lindsey form a large group of peaks east of the Great Sand Dunes. Blanca Peak reaches 14,345' in elevation but you don't have to work too hard to summit this IPA from Pateros Creek. You can summit this peak this Friday at The Astoria beginning at 5:30pm and going until 7:30pm. Brewer Steve will be there to talk about the latest addition to this summer IPA series and give away some schwag! The Astoria is located along College Avenue just south of Walnut St. in Downtown Fort Collins. Stop in between 5:30pm and 7:30pm to partake.

Clockwork Brewing (Aurora) - Rumors of their demise were a bit premature. Apparently, the upcoming brewery has only hit a few technical issues and they are still working hard at bring up the new brewery coming to Denver. Stay tuned for more news on their planned opening.

Great American Beer Festival (Denver) - According to the Denver Post, anyone who purchased Members-only GABF tickets yesterday online during the ticket snafu who isn't a member of the AHA or BA will have their ticket purchases VOIDED. Ticketmaster is working with the Brewers Association to determine which sales were made by non-members. The voided tickets will then be made available to AHA-BA members in a separate sale to be announced once a new solution is made available. Read the full article in the Denver Post online.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - It's back! The Oskar Blues GABF Ordeal Bus Tour. Beer, food, fun. RAD! Tickets are now on sale for this road trip to the GABF. Cost is $60 per person and has 2 days for you to choose from. Kick-off is at 8am on either Thursday, October 11th or Friday, October 12th. More info is on the official Oskar Blues web page. Black Bottle Brewery (Fort Collins) - Yes, they will be at the Gnarly Barley Beer Fest this Saturday pouring some of Sean's upcoming brews. Sadly, the Tickle My Pickle Ale won't be ready in time, so instead Black Bottle will bring out some Black Bacchus - a great Porter aged in Pinot Noir barrels. Stop by their booth for a taste.

2012 US Open Beer Championship (Atlanta, GA) - During the recent competition this week, several Colorado breweries took medals including: Fort Collins Brewery - Bronze for their Incredible Hope Imperial IPA and Silver for their Red Banshee, Oskar Blues - Silver for their Old Chub Scotch Ale and Bronze for their Deviant Dale's IPA, Boulder Beer Company - Bronze for their Flashback India Brown Ale, Wynkoop Brewing - Silver for their B3K (Schwarzbier) and GOLD for their Silverback Pale Ale, Left Hand Brewing - Silver for their Haystack Wheat, and finally Twisted Pine Brewing - GOLD for their Big Shot Espresso Stout. Ironworks Brewery & Pub (Lakewood) - Ironworks is going to put together an in-house pool league set for Sundays starting at 5:00pm. Anyone interested in joining should contact Asa or Rodney at Ironworks or just come down to the bar.

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - Heading to Gnarly Barley from Fort Collins and need a ride? You can ride a free shuttle from noon to 7:00pm from the Mayor out to the Gnarly Barley Beer Fest. The shuttle will be making 1/2 hour round trip stops. Check in with The Mayor for details or call 970-682-2410.

Odell Brewing Company (Fort Collins) - August 2nd is #IPADay and to celebrate, join them in the tap room. Pay for an IPA or a Myrcenary and you keep the glass! At Old Chicago South in FoCo at 6pm, get some Odell IPA on draft and watch for their giveaways and fun!

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Today's the day for the Grandfather Grimm Stout release. It's modeled after an Export Stout style. It's got a big roast and coffee characteristic. This is their Pro-Am beer that will be showcased at the GABF in October. Get some!
