Oskar Blues (Longmont) - Go East Young Brewery! - Oskar Blues' expansion to the east coast with a 2nd brewery may start brewing as early as December 2012. Brevard, North Carolina is the location for Oskar Blues second big brewing operations. This brewery will help meet the growing demand in the eastern US for their canned craft beers. By the end of 2013, this new brewer could be producing as much as 40,000 barrels. Compare that with the 100,000 barrels they hope to achieve in Longmont in 2013.

Higher Beer Prices (Nationwide) - In light of recent announcements that some Colorado craft breweries will be raising prices soon, A-B InBev has also stated that they will be jacking up their beer prices about 55 cents per case starting this fall. A fall price hike also happened with A-B InBev last year when they raised beer prices from 3 to 5 percent. Who's gonna be next? With the extreme heat this summer, grain crops are being hard hit and that means more expensive beer next year.

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - It's back! Starting this Thursday and for many Thursdays to come at 7:00pm, it's Acoustic/Vocal Open Mic Night at the Mayor! The action happens out on the patio and is a great spot to enjoy a brew and listen to some local raw talent.

Left Hand Brewing (Longmont) - There are a few seasonals now being offered in the Left Hand Brewing tasting room this month. Look for their Oktoberfest (aged for 2 months), Chainsaw (a double version of Sawtooth), Haystack (wheat), and Bards (English Mile Ale). Add to that a special on Sawtooth on Nitro for $3.25/pint. Enjoy live music on Saturday and Sundays starting at 5pm and 4:30pm respectively.

Hops & Berries (Fort Collins) - Want to learn how to homebrew? The Hops & Berries south store will be offering a beginning Learn to Brew class on Saturday, August 18th from 1pm to 3pm. Cost is $10 per person and space is limited. Sign up at either store.

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - There's to be a release party coming up on Thursday, August 9th from 5pm to 9pm for their Bristol Scotch Ale. Stop by their tasting room during that time for a taste of this newest brewhouse beer. Then on Saturday, August 11th from noon to 9pm, stop in for the tapping of a cask of RyePA. Limited supply so don't miss out.

City vs. City Cheese and Beer Pairing (Fort Collins) - Don't forget, tickets are still available for the upcoming beer and cheese pairing event at The Welsh Rabbit Cheese Shop at 216 Pine Street in Fort Collins, CO on August 8th at 7:00pm. Beers from Loveland Aleworks and Pateros Creek Brewing will be paired with 5 different cheeses. Tickets are $29 and are available at either brewery or the cheese shop. You choose which city (Loveland or Fort Collins) makes the best cheese pairings. More info at Napa of Beer.

Yak & Yeti (Arvada) - Christmas in August?!!? Their "Needles" Spruce-beer has been tapped today! This beer has so much flavor that it'll remind you of their new favorite beer slogan: "There is no such thing as Strong beers, only Weak men." - Care to try?

Springs Beer Fest (Colorado Springs) - A reminder that this Saturday, August 11th is the annual Springs Beer Fest in Antlers Park in Colorado Springs. The fest runs from 12 noon to 5:00pm. Over 50 different beers will be available with food from Old Chicago, Rock Bottom, Monster Dawgz, Ah La Carte Nachos, McCabe's Tavern and Front Range BBQ will be available as well. Live music all during the fest. Tickets available at Blacktie Colorado.

Crystal Springs Brewing Company (Boulder) - Coming soon. Their rum barrel aged porter is nearly ready and will be released in early September. This will be bottled and put into just 75 bottles in this very limited release. They also have a Russian Imperial Stout aging now in bourbon barrels. Look for this one to debut in early 2013. The brewery is also looking for a location for their planned tasting room.
