Colorado Beer News 081312 continued

Colorado Beer NewsWelcome to Page Two of today's Colorado Beer News. With so much news going on these days it needs a second page. Here's more of what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, August 9th, 2012. More news being added to this page throughout the day til 3:00pm MDT. If you missed it, read Part One.

Left Hand Brewing Company (Longmont) - Here's something to look forward to. This year's Pro-Am winner William Beeson along with Left Hand Brewing will present their Java Lava Coffee Porter at the GABF Pro-Am competition this year. This brew is made with Vietnamese coffee blended in. Sure to wake up all those late night tasting sessions in Denver this year. This brew will also be available on tap at the Left Hand tasting room.

Funkwerks (Fort Collins) - Please join in tonight at Choice City Butcher and Deli in Fort Collins from 4pm-9pm for a benefit raising money for MS research and a local family recently affected by MS. The event asks for a $20 donation, which isn’t much considering there will be beer, food, live music and a silent auction (featuring a Funkwerks gift certificate)!

Bootstrap Brewing (Niwot) - Fresh hops are now in season and Bootstrap Brewing is planning to release a big one with their Big Mo-Mentus Imperial American Amber. This brew was made with the freshest picked Chinook hop and will be available in early September. Look for this beer to also be pouring at the GABF. For a full press release on this beer click here.

Denver Beer Company (Denver) - Over the weekend, Denver Beer Company officially celebrated their one year anniversary of serving up fresh crafted beers for Denver. They have a present for you - they will now be open on Mondays! Stop in today and see what's on tap.

Elevation Beer Company (Poncha Springs) - The Alcohol and Tobacco Tax and Trade Bureau has rejected the label for their new awareness beer from Elevation Beer Company. The Feds believe "Prostator Smoked Doppelbock" violates rules against making health claims. They need a new name and and you could win free beer! Visit: to enter.

Great American Beer Festival (Denver) - Something different is happening (or not happening should we say) at the GABF this year. In order to make room for another 60 brewery booths, the GABF Awards ceremony will NOT take place inside the festival this year. Instead, the awards ceremony will be held at the Wells Fargo Theater in Denver on Saturday, October 13th at 10:30am - prior to the start of the members-only session. This change was deemed necessary to make more room on the convention floor and give the brewers a better chance to enjoy themselves at the Saturday session.

Live Music - Beer and live music go great together and many of your Colorado breweries and top watering holes offer up tunes on a regular basis. Check the Brewery Music Listings and see who's playing at your favorite brewery or beer bar near you in Colorado. Updated daily.
