Colorado Beer NewsToday is Valentino Day, a day that commemorates the life of Rudolph Valentino, the 1920's film star. He died on this day in 1926. Valentino made several memorable silent films and was known as the "Great Lover". Today we all can become a Valentino and be a great lover of craft beer. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, August 23rd, 2012.

Mountain Sun (Boulder) - The Boulder Daily Camera is reporting that the Mountain Sun family of pubs has plans to open a new restaurant in Boulder that would be located directly underneath the existing Southern Sun Pub and Brewery at 627 S. Broadway. This space will be a restaurant focused on fresh, value driven food. The restaurant will also feature a huge selection of Mountain Sun beers and other craft brews. In all, the place will have around 31 tap handles - 21 of them for Mountain Sun beers. No word yet on when this will open, but it would become the 4th location for the company.

Prost Brewing Company (Denver) - Today's the day! At noon they officially open their doors for business. From 4:00pm to 6:00pm you can also get some tasty Brats boiled in the Dunkel compliments of Rackhouse Pub. On tap today: Pils, Dunkel, Weißbier and Batch 1. Please welcome Prost Brewing Company to the Colorado craft brewers community!

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - The Big Beaver BBQ is this Saturday (8/25). Aside from the brisket, chicken, and pulled pork, they will also be smoking up some country ribs. Your choice of meat + cornbread, beans, and coleslaw, and any beer for $12! Choose one of their Big Beaver Beer BBQ sauces to drizzle over your plate. They will also be releasing their tequila infused Tijuana Tickler beer. So come on down this Saturday and give 'er a go.

Right Coast Pizza (Wheat Ridge) - There's going to be a mini beer fest happening at Right Coast Pizza during their grand opening this Saturday, August 25th from 12pm til dark. Tickets are $15 for the beerfest, $8 for the Mile High Sci Fi movie, or $20 for both. The beer fest will end at sundown when the movie "Snowbeast" will start at dark. Taste beers from Ska Brewing, Left Hand Brewing, Avery Brewing, Funkwerks and Arvada Beer Company. Right Coast Pizza is located at: 7100 West 38th Avenue in Wheat Ridge, CO.

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - The brewery is hosting a fundraiser on Friday evening, August 24th for the Eagle River Fire Department's Fill-The-Boot campaign. There will be live music from 6-10pm by the Andrew Wynne band. A $5 donation to the fire department gets you 2 beer tickets!

Boulder Brew Fest (Boulder) - Do you love beer festivals?!? Well then there's a (unpaid) job for you! Noquidin Productions is proud to announce the return of the Boulder Brew Fest! This 3rd annual event will bring down the walls of the Boulder Theater and offer over 60 beers. Pourers and ticketing volunteers will be given breaks to enjoy the festivities while working. Setup volunteers will be allowed to attend the first session (1pm-5pm) of the festival. They need you to make this the best beer festival Boulder has ever seen. So what are you waiting for? SIGN UP!

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - Announcing Monday Night Football with the Mayor! Starting Sept 10th, they will be displaying MNF on 3 large High-Def screens with the sound on for the games. The Mayor will be offering all beers from their local Fort Collins Breweries for $3.50 and from each pint served, they will be donating $.50 to Animal House! So, watching football, drinking beer, and saving a dog: What could be cooler?

Equinox Brewing (Fort Collins) - Today at noon, Equinox Brewing tapped a firkin of Zenith IPA dry hopped with Amarillo hops. This is a hoppy treat indeed! Get some.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Today Trinity is brewing a 10 barrel Vintage 2012 of Emma's Pumpkin Saison today (Belgian Liquid Pumpkin Pie)! Brewed with Garam Masala, brown sugar, 300 lbs of torch roasted Vennetucci sugar pumpkins, white sage, coriander, and grains of paradise. It's due to be tapped on Friday, September 14th. Something to look forward to.

Avery Brewing (Boulder) - The 13th in their barrel-aged series has been announced. Avery is making Odio Equum - a barrel-aged sour ale. The beer that weighs in at 7.89% ABV and was made with red raspberries and aged in cabernet sauvignon barrels. This beer will be bottled on September 14th, 2012. The production batch size is estimated at 465 cases. Odio Equum is translated to mean "Despite the horse". Look for this in September.

Oktoberfest in Colorado (Annual List) - The harvests are coming in, the weather is starting to cool, and towns and communities in Colorado are planning their Oktoberfests! The first celebration has already been set for August 25th and the 2012 Colorado Oktoberfest page has compiled a list of over 30 communities in the Centennial state that have Oktoberfest or harvest festivals planned. Check it out and visit one of more of these activites. Festivals run from late August through early October.
