Colorado Beer NewsWelcome to Page Two of today's Colorado Beer News. With so much news going on these days it often needs a second page. Here's more of what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, August 27th, 2012. More news being added to this page throughout the day til 3:00pm MDT. GABF Week Events (Denver) - As the Great American Beer Festival quickly approaches (October 11-13, 2012), more and more related events are being announced. From the Oskar Blues GABF Ordeal, the Avery Midnight Breakfast at Euclid Hall, the Alpha King Challenge at Rock Bottom Denver, the Denver Rare Beer Tasting at the Wynkoop, to the Cigar City special tappings at Star Bar, Freshcraft and Falling Rock Tap House. The list is starting to grow. The Brewers Association is keeping a list on their calendar as will Fermentedly Challenged. Stay tuned for more events as they are announced.

Cigar City Brewing (Florida) - A GABF favorite brewery will temporarily distribute a select number of their beer to Denver during the GABF and give Colorado attendees several opportunities to try some of these hard to get beers. Cigar City Brewery will be hosting tastings at three separate venues during the GABF. They will be at Star Bar the afternoon of October 10th, FreshCraft from 3pm - 5pm on October 11th, and at Falling Rock Tap House from 2pm - 5pm on October 12th. They will be pouring Jai Alai IPA and Maduro Brown along with some surprise selections. More details as they become available.

Wit's End Brewing Company (Denver) - Another first time medal winner! Wit's End gathered two medals at Foam Fest during the Colorado State Fair for their Wilford (Belgian Oatmeal IPA) and Jean-Claude Van Blond - both Bronze medal winners. Grats!

Crystal Springs Brewing (Boulder) - This small Boulder brewer won two medals also at the Colorado State Fair this weekend for their Port Barrel Aged Black Saddle (a gold) and also the John Hanley Memorial Award. Big kudos to Crystal Springs!

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - They may not be open yet, but already they are brewing up beer for their opening in a few weeks. Wild Woods is busy brewing their Honey Nut Blonde today - made with local wildflower honey and toasted almonds. That and several other flagship beers will be ready for you on opening day in September. They will be located at: 5460 Conestoga Court in Boulder, CO.

Colorado State Fair (Pueblo) - Now that the winners are starting to be announced, we found the entire list of medal and award winners in a handy formatted document for the 2012 Colorado State Fair Craft Beer Awards. To view the list of winners visit the Colorado State Fair official document. The biggest winner was Rockyard Brewing with 7 medals and an honorable mention. Best in Show was awarded to Pikes Peak Brewing Company for their "Brits Are Back" brown ale.

Homebrew Auction (Boulder) - Hop Barley and the Alers, Boulder's homebrew club, will be hosting their annual club auction Tuesday August 28 at 7PM (Boulder Masonic Lodge) Stop and check out their silent auction featuring lots of great swag for homebrewers and beer drinkers alike! Food and beer will be served too.

The Fort Collins Brewery (Fort Collins) - Late last week, FCB got in a lot of hop vines from a local farm in Fort Collins and they are going brew with them immediately. It will be the first time they have made a wet hop beer and it is a unique experience! These will be used for their 4th Incredible Hop Series release October 1st!

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Won't be long now. This Wednesday, August 29th at 4pm at the brewery tap room they will be releasing their Big Bad Wolf - Sticke Alt Ale for the first time. It's also available in 22oz bomber bottles for you to take home as well. Stop in to try it and take some bottles home with you.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - Thanks to all who voted, Oskar Blues will have a featured craft beer on Frontier Airlines during the entire month of October. If you're flying Frontier during that month and get thirsty ask for a can of Oskar Blues Dales Pale Ale. Fuh-Can-Eh at 35,000 feet!

Oktoberfest in Colorado (Annual List) - The harvests are coming in, the weather is starting to cool, and towns and communities in Colorado are planning their Oktoberfests! The first celebrations have already begun and the 2012 Colorado Oktoberfest page has compiled a list of over 30 communities in the Centennial state that have Oktoberfest or harvest festivals planned. Check it out and visit one of more of these activites. Festivals run from late August through early October.
