Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Trail Mix Day. This nation seems to be endured with naming special days after food and today is no different. Trail mix was designed to give people on the go a bit of an energy boost. End August today with a bit of a boost and perhaps wash it all down with a cool refreshing pint of craft beer to start your long holiday weekend. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, August 31st, 2012.

Colorado Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) - The second brewing facility will finally be opening for Colorado Mountain Brewery at the Roundhouse at 600 South 21st Street in Colorado Springs on September 7th. CMB will occupy a 120 year old building that's been rennovated a few times. The new brewery / restaurant will offer wood-oven pizzas and other entrees as well as a full line of beers from it's 5-barrel system. There will be up to 30 tap handles available at their bar. American Craft Beer Radio (102.3 FM Denver) - Don't forget, their weekly radio show goes on at 2pm tomorrow instead of the usual time. Gary V and company will be back in studio. Tomorrow's Co-host is Kevin Delange from Dry Dock Brewing Company, and Gary will be joined by James and Zach from Lucky Pie. Also joining them will be avid home brewer and lead vocalist for the band Lost Caravan, Lindsay Meredith and beer writer for the North Denver Tribune, home brewer and certified beer judge Patrick Dawson will be in to talk about his new book. It all starts at 2pm Saturday on 102.3 FM ESPN.

Black Bottle Brewery (Fort Collins) - Progress is being made in getting Fort Collins' newest brewery opened. This week, Sean Nook and company are working on their patio, which will hold up to 50 people, the sub-floor down to the brewing area which will be ready for their tanks in about 2 weeks, and also the bar itself which will be huge and come fully surrounded with bar stools once ready. Get thirsty, because more great beer will soon be tapped at the SW corner of College and Prospect in FoCo. Check out their Facebook page for pictures of the brewery construction.

Rockyard Brewing Company (Castle Rock) - This week's Deviation is the EisCavator! It's their 2010 Excavator Doppel Bock that's been iced to create a strong, malty, yet smooth amber lager. Powerful at 14%abv. Silver Medal 2012 CO State Fair. Don't miss it. Also, Wondering when their next beer dinner will be? They're planning it now! Look for a menu, date and time early next week.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - Hey Skaters! The TS Board Shop (Thrifty Stick) is planning a Parking Lot Party with a skate ramp & mini park featuring the TS skate team. There will be pizza from Fired Up Wood Fired Creations & Libations and plenty of beer tapping from Breckenridge Brewery. Lots of live music on hand from 6 different bands. It all happens on Saturday, September 8th from 12pm til it ends. The TS Board Shop party is located at 135 S. Broadway in Denver, CO.

Arvada Beer Company (Arvada) - The countdown to their 100,000th customer is on! Whoever becomes their 100,000th customer will receive a growler fill of each beer they release for 1 year. Plus the chance to brew with Dennis, Cary or Kelly, your choice. Get in there, and often to be able to win. They are so close to 100,000, they can taste it. It could be any day now. Parrys Pizza Tap TakeoverParry's Pizza (Highlands Ranch) will be hosting their second Oskar Blues Tap Takeover of the year coming up real soon on September 15th, 11am - 11pm. You'll find their Ryeteous Rye and other beers (kegs) at the following locations: Argonaut Wine & Liquor, Tipsy's Liquor World, Masterpiece Delicatessen, Wallaby's Liquor Warehouse and more! Over 32 locations and growing.

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - The owners talked a couple of kitchen folk and a few servers into coming in early this Saturday morning to serve up some pre-Tour De Fat breakfast/beers and bloodies. So, it's official, they are opening at 8:00am this Saturday! Wear your Tour de Fat gear and wake up at the Mayor's.

Avery Brewing Company (Boulder) - Today's Friday tapping is a special one indeed. At 5pm, Avery will unveil Lizzie Lee's Riverside Ale, a slightly sweet hazy golden 4.8% abv Belgian with estery notes of banana and spice. This easy-drinking brew not only makes a perfect end to August, but more importantly, was brewed by their beloved brewer Riley for his very own wedding this weekend!
