Following the success of Leftapalooza’s first year, the 2012 concert is coming back with a vengeance, bringing life to an even bigger & badder show! The annual event is now home to the official Mile High Tribute Band Competition, attracting seven talented cover acts to the Longmont stage. With the first band starting at noon, concert goers will enjoy a diverse array of performances into the evening, finishing the night with U2 tribute band, Under a Blood Red Sky. The seven bands will not just be battling for the title and bragging rights, but an astounding 1st place prize show at the Boulder Theater, complements of Kirk Peterson!

The September 1st date will also feature Leftapalooza Chili Fest, a professional competition featuring Colorado’s best of the best chili offerings, including Texas Red & Verde varieties! Starting at 2pm, event attendees can sample chili for $5 (all of which, goes directly to LLS) and vote for People’s Choice. Moreover, as a family event, music lovers of all ages are welcome to attend Leftapalooza! Attendees 10 & under are free of admission and can enjoy the Kid Zone complete with dunk tank and bounce house. And of course, like all great Left Hand events, there will be no shortage of craft beer pouring all day long!

Beyond the music and entertainment, the greater purpose of Leftapalooza is to raise funds and awareness for the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. The heart and soul of the day is dedicated to LLS, with proceeds from admission, chili tasting, and beer sales going directly to the organization. In particular, this year’s Leftapalooza will be honoring cancer fighter Davein VanDyke. LLS will be present throughout the event raising awareness as well as Love, Hope, & Strength and Bonfils whom will be swabbing concert goers for possible donor matches. Finally the end of the evening will culminate with a Light the Night ceremony in which participants of the 2012 Leftapalooza will fill the night sky with balloons honoring survivors, supporters, and those in memory.
