Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Lazy Mom's Day. Let's face it, Moms work hard all the time. And every once in a while they are entitled to have a day where they can just let things go and be lazy for once. Sure, there is Mother's Day, but Lazy Mom's Day is a time where they can leave things for another day. Let someone else cook and take care of the kids. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, September 7th, 2012.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Plan to stop by Grimm Brothers on Saturday, September 29th anytime between 11am and 9pm for their Oktoberfest and Farmer's Daughter Release (Oktoberfest ale) party. There will be a pretzel eating contest, a children's dance contest, a men's keg race, a women's stein hoisting/serving contest, live music from the Stubby Shilleglahs, and an awards ceremony for winners and best costume announcement. Lot's of fun to be had and plenty of good German-style beer! Or stop in today and try their limited release firkin of Coconut Porter starting at 4pm.

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - Variety is certainly the spice of life and if you're looking for variety in the beer you drink stop by the Mayor's at 632 S. Mason Street. Just last night they tapped fresh kegs of: Firestone Walker's Wookey Jack, Asher Brewing's Organic Kolsch, Estrella Damm, Firestone Walker's Double DBA, Julian Hard Cidar, Bear Republic's Racer 5 and Avery's Dugana. 100 beers on tap - something for every taste. Today is also Friday Afternoon Club from 3pm to 5pm - free pizza when you order a beer!

Hops & Pie 2nd BirthdayHops & Pie (Denver) - September 29th marks the 2nd anniversary for Hops & Pie and they're throwing a big Festival of Avery Beer Awesomeness party for their customers. Over 16 different uncommon Avery Brewing beers will be pouring all day long. There will be raffles for schwag, beer club memberships and other cool stuff as well. The tappings start at 12 noon! Check out the poster for a full line-up of beers available that day. Hops & Pie is located at 3920 Tennyson Street.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Tickets for their annual Harvest Saison Dinner go on sale Friday September 14th at noon at the brewery. This dinner will be held on Sunday, November 11th at 8:00pm at Trinity Brewing. Tickets cost $65 + tip per seat and these typically sell out quickly. This will be a 6-course pairing event. Golden City Brewery (Golden) - This Saturday, September 8th at the brewery it's GoldenFest 2012! It's a seasonal celebration of beer and you're invited. The fun starts at 11:30am and runs til 6:30pm. There will be live music from two bands - Drama Americana and Route 66 Band. Buy a special edition GCB mug and get a Free Beer. All proceeds go to help the Golden Fire Department. Also, stop in today for the last keg of Summer Ale. They added crystallized ginger and fresh peaches in the keg!

National Sour Beer Day (September 8th) - Are you a sour beer fan? Want to try one? Tomorrow is your day. It's a nationwide celebration of sour craft ales. Beers made with Brettanomyces, Lactobacillus or Pediococcus that add that bit of sour funk are the highlight that day. Head down to your local beer store and find a sour ale or head to your local brewery and ask for something sour. Food TruckapaloozaPateros Creek Brewing Company (Ft. Collins) - Tonight in the brewery parking lot from 5pm to 9pm it's Food Truckapalooza. There will be 7 to 8 different food trucks all in attendance in one location - just outside the brewery! Listen to live music from the Buzz Brothers Band from 6pm to 9pm. Grab a pint of your favorite PCBC beer and grab some food from these food trucks: The Waffle Lab, The Cupcake Cruiser, Umami Mobile Asian Eatery, Ba-Nom-a-Nom, Taco Shop, Pizza Casbah, and Primal Echo Organic Crepes. Something for everyone!

Colorado Mountain Brewery (Colorado Springs) - Today is the day! Their second location opens at the Roundhouse at 11:00am. Business at their 1st location has been so good they needed to open a second brewing location just to keep up. The new 2nd brewery is located at 600 S. 21st Street in the Springs.

Ska Brewing Company (Durango) - Today marks the return of their seasonal brew Euphoria Pale Ale. Stop by the brewery at 5pm today as they are planning a release party for this year's batch. Fermentedly Challenged was there on Labor Day and got a sneak peek at this brew and it is delicious! Look for cans of this brew on your local shelves starting next week. Hope you got your ticket for the big 17th anniversary party on Saturday, September 8th as it's sold out. 1000 fans, food and plenty of beer!

Gravity BrewingGravity Brewing (Louisville) - It's official! Gravity Brewing is holding their Grand Opening tomorrow, Saturday September 8th! Doors open at 2pm and the fun lasts until 10pm. In addition to great beer served at Louisville’s longest bar, the Gravity Tap Room will offer pool, ping pong, bubble hockey, and friendly, down-to-earth people. Their craft beers will be sold in pints, sampler trays, and ½ gallon growlers filled at the tap. They’ll also be selling kegs for consumption off premises. Feel free to bring food from the local restaurants to enjoy in the tap room or outdoor beer garden. Beers on tap on opening day: Belgian Wit, Belgian Abbey, Belgian Blonde, Double IPA, Imperial Stout. They are brewing a regular IPA next weekend.
