Colorado Beer NewsToday is Positive Thinking Day. There are a lot of studies that have shown that the power of positive thinking can go a long way to improving your life? If everyone's thoughts turn to something positive today - what a difference that could make in this world! Come to think of it, I'm getting a lot of positive vibes just thinking about having a craft beer at the end of the day. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, September 13th, 2012.

Prost Brewing Company (Denver) - Is it the Zombie Apocalypse? Can something 148 years old come back to life? It can in the form of a 148 year old beer recipe. Prost has brewed up the old Tivoli Helles - it's a German style Helles Lager that hasn't been made in Colorado in over 43 years. It's like tasting a bit of Colorado history and it's now on tap at Prost Brewing.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Windsor's soon to be newest brewery has test filled their first growler this week in anticipation of their first opening on Saturday, September 15th at 12pm-7pm and Sunday the 16th from 12pm to 5pm. While the "Hop Hut" tasting room will open at that time, their official Grand Opening celebration and the start of their regular hours will begin in mid-October. Stay tuned for details on this upcoming event.

Pateros Creek Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - On Saturday, September 22nd from 12pm to 9pm, come on down to the brewery to help celebrate Steve (the owner's) birthday. It's Stevetoberfest! If your name happens to be Steve, Stephen, Stephanie, Stefanie (etc) your first beer will be free (ID required). There will be plenty of authentic German food on hand along with a tapping of their special Stevetoberfest Lager and some other special brews. Live music from 5 different bands will entertain you all day long. Don't miss the 7th annual Stevetoberfest this year!

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Think you can sing or play an instrument well? Prove it! Stop in to the Mayor's tonight starting at 7pm for their Thursday Acoustic/Vocal Open Mic Night. This event will be hosted by RJ Clay, featured artist who will play at 8pm. Even if you don't sing or play, there'll be 100 different beers waiting for you on tap to enjoy while you listen. Oh ya, there's great food available too.

Wild Woods Brewery (Boulder) - Here's their starting line-up for their expected Grand Opening in a couple weeks: Smores, Treeline, Campfire, Ponderosa, Berry Patch, Wild Flower, and Honey Nut. Joyride Brewing Company (Denver) - They're 17 days ahead of schedule, but already they've reached their goal of raising $5,000 in their Kickstarter project. They'd like to raise even more with the 17 days they have left in their project. Visit their project page at Kickstarter and read all about them and their efforts towards opening up a new brewery in the Denver area. (Formerly Crooked Keg Brewing Co).

American Craft Beer Radio (102.3FM ESPN) - Tune in this weekend in studio with their special guests Chef Jorel Pierce and Beer Master Ryan Conklin from Euclid Hall, also joining Gary V is Attorney Jeffrey Duggan of Marathon Law, and joining in via phone to draw a second winner for GABF tickets is Patrick from Davidsons Liquors, and of course the 2nd episode of Home Brewing with Duane sponsored by Ruby Street Brewing, LLC. It all starts this Saturday at noon on 102.3 FM ESPN Denver.

Durango OktoberfestDurango Oktoberfest (Durango) - They're blocking off 2 city blocks on Main Avenue for this annual celebration. All the Durango-area breweries will be participating in this two day event - September 15th 11am-5pm and September 16th 11am-3pm. Feast on traditional German food, listen and dance to polka music and participate in many family fun activities. Live music by: The Alpines, Farmington Hill & The Polkanauts. Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Grimm Brothers is expecting! Fermenters that is. Today they will be receiving two new 30 barrel fermenters for their brewhouse. That means even more great Grimm Brothers beer will be heading our way in the near future.

Copper Kettle Brewing Co (Denver) - The next few weeks are going to be filled with new and returning beer releases and events. Today, CKBC is releasing their Peach Saison at 12 noon and also having a Beer and Cheese Pairing at 7pm. Next Saturday, it's Oktoberfest time at the brewery and with it the return of their Oktoberfest Lager at noon. Then on Saturday, September 29th they mark the return of their Dunkelweiss, a dark German wheat beer.
