Colorado Beer NewsToday is October 3rd (Happy Hump Day) and there's just 8 more days until the 31st annual Great American Beer Festival. This is one of the busiest times of the year for craft beer drinkers, brewers, and distributors. GABF week events are about to begin. Get ready! Here they come. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, October 3rd, 2012.

The Kitchen [Next Door] (Boulder) - Tickets are still available for the GABF Kickoff party next Wednesday evening at The Kitchen Next Door in Boulder. Upslope Brewing, Oskar Blues, Dry Dock Brewing, Odell Brewing and Funkwerks will be paired with delicious food from Next Door. Cost is $65 per ticket. Great Storm Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Attention starving college students and faculty (of legal drinking age) - Great Storm is having an October lunch special all month long. Buy a pint of their beer and you'll also get two slices of pizza free! The cost is only $4.00. Offer is valid from 11am to 2pm Wednesday through Saturday through October 31st with your student or faculty ID. Free WiFi available too.

The Mayor of Old Town Tap Into Northern ColoradoThe Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - The GABF is almost here and The Mayor is holding a huge celebration. "Tap Into Northern Colorado" is running now through October 14th, and with it there is a complete tap takeover at The Mayor. All 100 taps will feature Northern Colorado beers exclusively to showcase the great tastes from the breweries in this area. Breweries include: New Belgium (up to 18 different Lips of Faith beers), Odell Brewing, Funkwerks, Equinox, Grimm Brothers, Avery, Upslope, Asher, Oskar Blues, Left Hand and Crabtree Brewing. There will be some rare cellar selections included along with some collaboration beers and some Pro-Am beers as well. Taps will keep rotating with new NoCo beers. There will also be buses picking up and dropping off people right outside who wish to tour the area breweries. This will become a big annual event! Copper Club Brewing Company (Fruita) - A combination of a homebrew shop and a brewery just seems to be the right combination in many places in Colorado and Fruita, Colorado is going to get such a combination. Copper Club Brewing Company is opening in the same location as Kettles Homebrew Supply at 233 E. Aspen Avenue later this year. Much of the brewhouse is already completed. They are planning to be open by the end of November 2012.

Pateros Creek Brewing Co (Fort Collins) - This Saturday, October 6th at the brewery, the Fort Collins Food Truck Alliance is hosting their Street Food Soiree from 4pm to 8pm. Eight different food trucks will take over the parking lot next to PCBC and offer up some of the best street food around. Grab a beer or two and feast to tastes from: The Cupcake Cruiser, The Waffle Lab, Umami Mobile Asian Eatery, Ba-Nom-a-Nom, Taco Shop, Pizza Casbah, Primal Echo Organic Crepes, and Conundrum Coffee. Bring your appetite!

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - Here's the starting line-up for Denver Beer Week celebrations. Monday, Oct. 8th - Tapping a firkin of their IPA dry hopped w/Nouveau Cascade hops. Happy Hour 4-6pm and $1 off 16oz pints or 10oz DIPA pints. Happy Hour all night for the ladies. Tuesday, Oct. 9th - Tapping a firkin of their RED dry hopped w/Nouveau Cascade hops. Free drawing for merchandise at 7pm and Happy Hour 4-6pm. Wed. Oct 10th - Poblano Stout firkin w/Hatch Green Chilis. Happy Hour all night long. Thurs. Oct. 11th - Beer For A Year raffle $5 tixs. Drawing at 7pm. Friday, Oct 12th - Food Truck Friday and Happy Hour 4-6pm. Sat. Oct 13th - Win free swag, drawing at 7pm and Happy Hour 4-6pm. Free movies every night as well!

Odell Brewing Co (Fort Collins) - Would you believe it? Odell Brewing is involved in over 30 different events from now leading up to the end of the GABF. 30+!! Too many to list here. You can get a peek at all of them on their event calendar here - Dinners, Tap Takeovers, Beer Brunch, Special Tappings, Cheese Pairings and more.

Denver Beer Company (Denver) - Saranac Brewery (NY) and Denver Beer Company recently got together to brew up a collaboration beer called: "Continental Collide". A collision of tastes from East and West US. This brew is a vermilion Rye IPA made with citrusy NY area hops and Colorado malts and honey. This beer will be pouring at the GABF and also at Denver Beer Company on October 12th at 4pm.

Eddyline Brewing (Buena Vista) - Colorado will soon be getting another packaged pumpkin ale. Eddyline recently got label approval for "Pumpkin Patch", an ale brewed with pumpkin, honey and spices. This brew will be available in 16oz cans. It's described as "Decadent, Rich & Spicy!" - Look for it soon where Eddyline beers are sold.

Crazy Mountain Brewing (Edwards) - Beer for Boobs! It's Breast Cancer Awareness Month and Crazy Mountain and West Vail Liquor Mart are partnering to donate $2.00 from every six-pack sold during the entire month of October to the Sonnenalp Breast Cancer Imaging Center to promote early detection. Look for the PINK 6-pack toppers. There will also be a few other liquor stores in the Vail and Boulder, CO area also participating. Look for the pink toppers to help out.

Oktoberfest in Colorado (Annual List) - The harvests are coming in, the weather is starting to cool, and towns and communities in Colorado are celebrating Oktoberfest! The 2012 Colorado Oktoberfest page has compiled a list of over 30+ communities in the Centennial state that have Oktoberfest or Harvest festivals planned. Festivals run through early October.
