Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Chocolate Cupcake Day. And what goes better with that than a dark, rich chocolate stout! Treat yourself to something dark and decadent today. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, October 18th, 2012.

Equinox Brewing (Fort Collins) - To get everyone in the Halloween spirit Equinox is having a Trick or Treat inspired firkin tapping today. At noon they'll be tapping two pins of Jonas Porter, one conditioned with organic chocolate, the other with habanero peppers.

Oskar Blues (Longmont) - On Monday, October 22nd, Oskar Blues will officially launch and distribute their beers in OHIO and KENTUCKY. Residents there will find lots of kick-off events scattered throughout the two states. The beer will be distributed by Stagnaro Distributing and Superior Beverage Group. Better be prepared Ohio & Kentucky! The domain of Oskar Blues continues to grow.

Wynkoop Brewing Co (Denver) - November 3 from 1-4 PM, join in as the Wynkoop cracks open kegs of every Wynkoop beer they made in 2012, along with special cask and reserve Wynkoop beers. They'll also be serving select beers from our favorite beer allies (for over 40 beers total) and we will have a spread of gourmet cheeses to accompany the day's beers. Advance tickets are $25 or cost $32.50 at the door. All advance ticket buyers will be entered into a drawing for a complimentary pair of tickets to our 2012 Parade of Darks on December 1.

Ska Brewing (Durango) - Vampires are waiting for you! Don't give THEM your blood this Halloween, instead consider donating some to the Pint 4 Pint Blood Drive on October 26th in Durango, CO. Sign up for the Blood Drive tonight at Ska Brewing from 5-7pm! They will have $3 pints, complimentary chili and live music by The Porchlights. Then come back to the American Legion Hall in Durango on October 26th to give your pint. When you do, you'll get a coupon for a free pint at any of the 4 main Durango breweries.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Stop by the Beaver tonight to listen to The Stubby Shillelaghs, an Irish Folk group for a energetic time while you sip some beer. Then return on Friday, October 19th. They will be giving away a 1/6 barrels worth of free beer beginning at 2:00pm and ending when that barrel is drained. This week it's full of Bust-A-Nut Brown Ale. And then at 5pm on Friday, it's the Beaver Jam Bluegrass Jam until 11pm. Bring your musical instrument and jam along.

Prost Brewing (Denver) - Follow along on a recent journey to Prost Brewing. Fermentedly Challenged made a visit to Prost during the Great American Beer Festival. Take a peak inside one of Denver's newer breweries. (Read Article Here)

Learn to Homebrew Day (November 3rd) - Now's the time! Make your plans for Learn to Homebrew Day, November 3. If you're handy with a hydrometer, organize an event to introduce friends and family to the hobby. If you're not so sure whether you can sparge a taphandle or pitch a hop bag, then find an event near you to learn more! If you host a brew event—it can be big or small—register online. This celebration was established in 1999 by the AHA to encourage people to homebrew. Events around the world are set up to teach friends and family how to make beer. More info here.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Their official Grand Opening celebration will be happening across 2 days - October 19th and 20th (Fri & Sat). Beer specials all day long, live music, door prizes, food vendors and more! Get a "Hop Shot" to infuse your favorite beer. Check out their indoor beer garden in the greenhouse. All types of beer for all types of people. Located at: 6461 Hwy 392 in Windsor, CO.

Odell Brewing Co (Ft. Collins) - There's a special beer in the works that's set to debut in January at the Big Beers festival in Vail, CO - it's Odell's Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout. It's a stout brewed with milk chocolate. The beer will weigh in at a hefty 8.5% ABV and come in a 4-pack of 12oz bottles. This beer is billed as having a rich, creamy chocolate milk like texture. Stout and chocolate lovers will want to take notice of this release. Due out January 10th, 2013 and will become one of their new seasonals. CAUTION: Brewing Co (Denver) - From their news page: The brewery has all 8 taps pouring, although chances are the three new beers won't last through the weekend! They have a little bit of Dunkel(er)weiss and Card Your Mom Saison available along with just a little bit of the Foam On The Range brewed cognac aged old ale left in the Foamer Firkin. Also still available their GABF Pro-Am entry brewed with esteemed home brewer John Rowley from New Mexico. The Green Tease Pale Ale is brewed with a blend of two different sake yeasts, and dry hopped with Sorachi Ace and Centennial hops, along with pounds of imported Sencha and Hojichi tea leaves from Japan.

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - The Mayor is pleased to announce that their 'Wednesday comedy nights with the Mayor' events will be starting up again on 11/7/12 at 8:00pm. Grab some friends, get their early, order some beers and get ready to laugh!
