Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Cat Day. A day where dogs take the back seat and cats take the spotlight. Be good to your feline friends today and do something special for them. They won't thank you for it - after all they're cats! It's too bad that the SF Giants weren't more friendly to the cats they were playing with. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, October 29th, 2012.

Upcoming Breweries (Colorado Springs) - Next year, Colorado Springs will continue growing as another big craft beer city as 3 more new nano-breweries will be coming to town: Ballad Brewing LLC, Lofty Brewing Company, and Foxfire Brewing Company. Only Lofty Brewing has found a location so far at 2929 North Prospect Street and they plan to be a wholesale brewery selling to local taverns. Look for these businesses to start pouring sometime in 2013 (if not sooner).

Silverton Brewery (Silverton) - According to their Facebook page, the Silverton Brewery is now in the final stages of bringing the Silverton Brewery to Las Vegas, Nevada. Plans have been in the works for a year now. Stay tuned for details on what this means for the brewery. Are they moving or just expanding their operations? We should know soon.

Very Nice Brewing Company (Nederland) - The weather cooperated and they managed to celebrate their grand opening weekend in style. Check out all of the opening weekend photos of Colorado's newest brewery on their Facebook page. Four beers were pouring during the opening weekend. If you missed it, plan to stop up to check them out at: 20 Lakeview Drive, Unit 112 - Caribou Village Shopping Center - in Nederland, CO.

Parry's Pizza (Highlands Ranch) - This coming Friday night, November 2nd) at Parry's Pizza is their Colorado Native Pint Night from 5:30pm to 6:30pm. Order a Colorado Native lager and you get to keep the pint glass (while supplies last). Located at 9567 University Blvd in Highlands Ranch, CO. 50 Draft Handles with the best available craft beer.

Beer Dinners & Pairings - Did you know that there are at least 12 different Beer Dinners being planned from now through early December? More food pairing events are being announced daily. Check out the Colorado Beer Dinner and Pairing Events listings and get your reservations in early.

Colorado Mountain Brewery at the Roundhouse (Colorado Springs) - If you were one of their first 500 Likes on Facebook then today is your day to get your FREE HAT. Stop on by tonight for Monday Night Football and claim your hat today. Just let them know which Like you were and the hat is yours. Located at: 600 S. 21st Street, Suite 180 in Colorado Springs, CO.

Butcherknife Brewing Company (Steamboat Springs) - Progress is being made today! They should be breaking ground on the Steamboat brewery today and will be tapping into the water main. The many hours of planning is starting to take shape. Beer can't be too far away in Steamboat Springs! Follow their progress on Facebook.

Big Choice Brewing (Broomfield) - Anyone in need of a growler to put in the wagon while you follow your kids around during Halloween? Big Choice is offering 20% off growler prices on Wednesday Night and if you bring in your kids on Halloween they will get a full sized candy bar! (Sorry adults, candy is only for the kids, the beer is for you!)

Upslope Brewing Company (Boulder) - On Saturday, November 3rd, be one of the first to try their new Fourth Anniversary beer. There will be a party to go along with that release and it runs from 12pm to 6pm at the brewery in Boulder. They will have over 15 beers available to try along with souvenir glasses. Colorado Craft Beer Radio will also be on hand doing a live show. There will be live music from The Longest Day of the Year and The Wolftones. Food Trucks will also be on site offering up tempting selections. Come help them celebrate their 4th anniversary. Located at: 1501 Lee Hill Road, No. 20.

Hops & Pie (Denver) - This month's Littlest Big Beer Fest will feature the beers of Fifty Fifty Brewing Company of Truckee, California. Fifty Fifty is bringing along 5 different hard to get beers including: Donner Party Porter (Colonial American version), Totality Imperial Stout (9.5% ABV), Rockslide IPA (70 IBUs), RYEPA (West Coast Style IPA) and Eclipse, a strong ale aged in oak bourbon barrels. These brews tend to be higher in ABV than most so bring along a designated driver. Hops & Pie is located at: 3920 Tennyson Street in Denver, CO.

Prost Brewing (Denver) - Still looking for someplace to haunt for Halloween? Stop by Prost for their costume contest. They'll have plenty of beer and they will be giving away some awesome prizes as well. The winners of their recent pumpkin contest will also be announced. That's this Wednesday, but you can always visit in costume anytime you wish, they won't mind.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Attention Veterans and current military! Visit Grimm Brothers on Veterans Day - November 11th, 2012 - and receive half priced pints from 1pm to 7pm. There will also be a special beer release that day - all proceeds from this beer will be donated to American Military Stop in tonight for Tacos & Trivia. Food starts 5:30pm and Trivia 7:00 to 9:00pm.

Patrick's Irish Pub (Greeley) - Only one more day until the Stubby Shillelaghs' 2nd Anniversary "Booooozeday" Spectacular at Patrick's Irish Pub in Greeley (that's October 30th). The show starts at 8:00pm to make room for their special guests "Keep Britain Irish"! They'll be partying 'til 1am. FREE BEER for an hour (Guinness, Harp and Smithwicks) and best costume gets to take home a FREE 39" flatscreen TV! Patrick's is located at: 909 8th Avenue in Greeley, CO.

Wild Mountain Brewery (Nederland) - Limited time special - from now until Halloween, get 1/2 price oatmeal stouts! That is while the keg still lasts. Better hurry in to get your beer soon!

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - This upcoming brewery in Wheat Ridge announced today that they are planning to do a soft opening on Wednesday, November 28th. This nano-brewery is located at: 4335 Wadsworth in Wheat Ridge, CO. They should be firing up their kettle sometime this week if all goes according to plan.

Mountain Sun (Boulder) - Tomorrow, upon opening at each location, Mountain Sun will release two pumpkin beers. Killer Harvest Belgian Pumpkin Ale is 7.5% ABV and uses over 100 pounds of pie pumpkins per batch. It also uses a little brown sugar and their proprietary blend of six different spices. The pumpkin flavor and pumpkin pie spices work well with the flavors from the Achouffe yeast. Dark Harvest Pumpkin Stout is 6.9% ABV and uses similar quantities of fresh pumpkin and blended spices. The chocolate flavors from the dark malts meld with the flavors of pumpkin and spice.
