Colorado Beer News 103012

Colorado Beer NewsToday is Devil's Night or Mischief Night. The night before Halloween. Back as early as the 1940s, city youth would go around vandalizing property by soaping or waxing windows, leaving rotten vegetables or bags of flaming poo on doorsteps. Or even TP'ing trees and shrubs. Hopefully, incidents like this won't turn to worse crimes, but beware, the tradition and history are out there. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Tuesday, October 30th, 2012.

Carver Brewing Co (Durango) - Halloween will be busy at Carver Brewing. They are planning a party complete with live music, a costume contest, spooky drink specials and their Midnight Black IPA on tap. The party starts at 7:30pm and runs will the ghouls go home.

Gravity Brewing (Louisville) - Fans asked for it and now they're tapping it on Halloween. Gravity Brewing has created a big bold Imperial Belgian Pumpkin Ale that weighs in at 10% ABV. It's a small batch that will be tapped at 6pm on 10/31/2012. Wear your costume to the brewery! They'll also have 6 other brews on tap that night including a Russian Imperial Stout, a Double IPA, an ESB, a Belgian Abbey, a regular IPA and a Belgian Wit. Something for every beer taste. Locate at 1150 Pine Street in Louisville, CO.

Oskar Blues (Lyons) - Their big Ten Year CANiversary party is coming up on Saturday, November 17th up at the Oskar Blues Grill & Brew in Lyons. The party runs from 6:00pm to close. There will be two sets of live music. The first set runs from 6:30pm to 9:00pm featuring Erik the Viking & Interstate Stash Express and is FREE. The second set features The White Buffalo and tickets cost $15 advance or $20 at the door and runs from 9:30pm to 11:30pm. There will be giveaways, including a trip for 2 on a bluegrass cruise ship for February. In other news, Oskar Blues market launch into Ohio is going very well. Sales went very well during the first week according to their distributor and was record setting. I guess they'll be needing that 2nd brewery pretty soon (December) as sales will continue to rise.

Golden City Brewery (Golden) - Tomorrow, October 31st, GCG is celebrating not only Halloween, but also their 19th anniversary! American Homebrewers Association (AHA) - Attention members! Did you know that your membership card sitting in your wallet or purse can actually save you money at select breweries and brewpubs? Yup, for instance, flash your card at Crooked Stave's tap room and you'll save 10% on your beer purchases. And that's just one place out of 100s across the USA where AHA members get discounts. So pull that out of your wallet and ask your server the next time you're at a brewery or pub.

They all received a free pint of beer from their favorite Durango brewery (after they donated that is). The blood drive has been a regular event since 2003. Thanks to Ska Brewing, Carver Brewing, Durango Brewing and Steamworks Brewing for all of their efforts. Even Jay Leno of the Tonight Show took notice and mentioned this "beer for blood" drive in a recent monologue.

Pikes Peak Brewing (Monument) - The brewery is planning to help raise funds for Tri-Lakes Cares, a local food pantry, by hosting a Pig Roast on Tuesday, November 20th at 4pm at the brewery.
