Colorado Beer NewsToday is the first day of Pumpkin Chunkin Days. It's an annual time to do something fun with all of those leftover pumpkins. Find a creative way to get rid of that old pumpkin and have some fun while you're at it. Invite your friends to bring over their pumpkins and see how far you can get a pumpkin to travel through the air. This kind of activity pairs well with a pumpkin beer. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Friday, November 2nd, 2012.

Lone Tree Brewing Co (Lone Tree) - New tappings are on the horizon. Just tapped on Wednesday was their Harvest Pumpkin Ale. Coming up on November 14th, try their RauchBier - a smoked brew that will remind you of bacon. Then on Black Friday, November 23rd, come try their Black Friday Bock - a smooth beer for the winter season. Coming soon - LTBC Beers in 22oz bottles! Hungry? Live acoustic guitar music tonight and next Friday night at 6:00pm. They'll have Jessie's Smokin Nola & Reetz Treats parked outside every Friday this month at 5pm. Also, mark your calendar for December 7th as LTBC celebrates their 1 year anniversary. More news soon on how they plan to celebrate that event.

Park Burger (Denver) - Every Wednesday in November, Park Burger will be hosting a Tap Room Takeover starting at 4:00pm. 10 different Colorado brewery's beers will be featured and at 6:00pm a rep from that brewery will be on hand to talk about their beers. Featured breweries include: Great Divide November 7th, Odell Brewing November 14th, Avery Brewing November 21st, and Boulder Beer Co November 28th. Come sample some great beers on Wednesdays all month long. Located at: 1890 S. Pearl Street in Denver, CO.

All Colorado Beer Festival (Colorado Springs) - One of the last few remaining large scale beer festivals this year is happening this weekend in Colorado Springs. The 6th annual All Colorado Beer Festival is going on Saturday, November 3rd with two separate sessions. One at 1-4:30pm and the other at 6:30pm to 10pm. Over 36 Colorado-only breweries are expected to participate. The event will be held at Freedom Financial Expo Center at 3650 N. Nevada Avenue. Tickets are $30. More info at: www.allcoloradobeerfestival.com. VIP passes for early entry are also available. Designated Driver tickets are also being sold for $10 each.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - If it's the end of the work week then it must be Free Beer Friday! Starting at 2:00pm today, Big Beaver will be offering up a 1/6th barrel keg of their Potent Peter IPA free to their customers. Limit 1 pint per customer. Just remember, free beer won't last long so get there ASAP near 2pm to get your free pint. Big Beaver will feature a new beer for Free Beer Friday each week.

Rocky Mountain Brew Fest (Denver) - Another beer festival is happening this weekend. It's actually a festival within another festival. The 21st annual Colorado Ski & Snowboard Expo is going on this weekend, November 2nd through the 4th, at the Colorado Convention Center downtown Denver. You first need a ticket to get into the Ski Expo. Once inside, you'll need another ticket to get into the beer fest (area within the expo). Tickets for just the beer fest portion will cost an extra $12 advance, or $15 at the door. This gets you three 4oz samples and one full pint of your choice. Additional drinks may be purchased separately if you want more.

Learn To Homebrew Day (November 3rd) - This Saturday is the annual AHA Learn to Homebrew Day. Homebrew clubs from all over the state will be hosting free live demonstrations on how to brew your own beer. Plan on spending half the day at these events as some of these batches (all-grain) take up to 6 hours to complete. To locate an event near use visit the AHA Learn to Homebrew Event Search page.

4th Annual Pumpkin Smash (Idaho Springs) - Wondering what to do with those leftover pumpkins from Halloween? Bring them up to the ball fields in Idaho Springs on Saturday, November 3rd from 12pm to 4pm for a Pumpkin Smash! Have a blast while learning about composting. There will also be snacks, pumpkin beer from Tommyknocker Brewery and more. Don't trash it, SMASH it! New this year, a catapult and a 22ft long SMASH hammer.

Breckenridge Brewery (Denver) - It's the first Friday of the month, and that means that Breckenridge will be hosting a Firkin First Friday event at 5:00pm at the brewery in Denver. This month's firkin will be a 471 IPA dry-hopped with Warrior hops. IPA lovers will want to get some of this!

Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - Saturday, November 10th marks the 7th Anniversary of Dry Dock Brewing Company and you're all invited to a party that starts at 11:00am and runs all day. Live music from Scott Von will begin at 4:00pm and there will be special offerings on tap to celebrate. Check out their Seasonal beers now on tap including: Shotgun Barrel-aged Russian Imperial Stout, The Ambassador Sour Ale, Osirus Ordinary Bitter and Black Seas Spicy Stout.

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Wednesday nights just got funnier. Starting Wednesday, November 7th at 8:00pm, their comedy stage will be lit up and cranking out the laffs. They've got some great comedy acts coming in. Grab a beer from their 100 selections on tap and sit and grin.

Colorado Springs Breweries (Video) - Fox 21 in Colorado Springs recently did a video story about the growing craft beer industry in the city. This segment features interviews with Phantom Canyon, Bristol Brewing and Colorado Mountain Brewery. Check out the video on YouTube if you can't see the video below.


Dillon DAM Brewery (Dillon) - Who says breweries never change? Dillon Dam Brewery just installed a brand new tap system and are now offering up 11 different beers on tap. Their new system are now glycol chilled and they can serve up to 13 different beers now. Stop in and taste their new DAM Gogh de Garde - now on tap. It's a beer brewed specially in honor of the Van Gogh art exhibit in Denver running through January 20th. Other special brews on tap include: Oktoberfest, 2020 Beer Goggles Double IPA, and Breck Wishkey Barrel Aged Coffee Vanilla Stout. That and their 7 regular beers. Something for everyone!
