Colorado Beer NewsToday is Veteran's Day (Observed for Federal employees). Continue to honor our Veterans today and consider buying them a beer. Be sure to say thanks to those who have served our country. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, November 12th, 2012.

The Mayor of Old Town (Fort Collins) - Join in Tuesday night at 6:00pm for the Firestone Walker 16th Anniversary Release Party. Meet and talk to Elizabeth Kagan from Firestone Walker Brewing Company and enjoy the latest delicious brew from the gang in CA! The Tom Barbour Trio will also be playing live music during the release event.

The Rackhouse Pub (Denver) - Since today is the real Veterans Day (Federal holiday) the Rackhouse invites all Vets to stop in today for a free Beer of the Day today.

Hops & Pie (Denver) - November is Movember month where mustaches rule. Stop by Hops & Pie on Tuesday the 13th for their Movember Moustache Fundraising Party 6pm to close to help raise some money to support men's health! Some prizes that will be raffled are: an autographed Tulowitzki jersey & ball, a Billy Dee Williams autographed poster, Gift Certificates, T-shirts and some other goodies. Happy Hour prices all night with raffle drawing at 9:30 sharp! Every $5 donated gets you a raffle ticket.

Twisted Pine Brewing Co (Boulder) - On Wednesday, December 5th, 2012 from 7pm to 8:30pm - it's the annual Northstar Imperial Porter Vertical Tasting party at the brewery taproom. As winter settles in around Boulder, Colorado, fans of Twisted Pine Brewing Company are bristling with the excitement that surrounds the annual release of the brewery’s Northstar Imperial Porter. The Baltic-style porter will make its 2012 debut on December 5th to a select few ticket holders for the vertical tasting involving small bites of local delicacies, which coincides yearly with the beer’s release. Throughout the evening we will be enjoying Northstar and noting how as it has changed throughout the years since its first release in 2004. The highly regarded ale will be available to the public at large beginning December 7th. Tickets available online.

Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - 'Tis the season for beer and Power Hour. Come join in tonight at Dry Dock Brewing Company from 6:00-7:00pm for an hour of pure awesomeness. They will be serving up wings and boneless bites with four different flavors. And to make the night even better the ladies from Must Love Cake will be joining them with some of their delicious desserts. Wings, craft beer, dessert. What could be better?

Ghost Plate & Tap (Denver) - More specials for Veterans! All vets get 20% their entire tab today at Ghost Plate & Tap. Thanks for all your service and sacrifice!

Denver Bacon and Beer Festival (Denver) - Yes you heard right. It's an entire festival focused just on bacon and beer! Over 25 food vendors and nearly 20 Colorado breweries are expected to descend upon Mile High Station in Denver on December 9th from 2:30pm to 5:00pm. Read all about this upcoming fest in the official Press Release. Tickets are expected to sell out extremely quick. Tickets go on sale November 13th, 2012.

CAUTION: Brewing Co (Denver) - Love is in the air er beer. Another brewing couple has gotten married! Danny Wang and Betty Fey, owners of Caution: Brewing got married on Saturday, November 10th. Their wedding was streamed live on the internet and in their taproom. Strange Brewing made a special wedding brew just for the occasion, a fresh-hopped Dusseldorf Ale. Grats to the newlyweds!

Phantom Canyon Brewing (Colorado Springs) - It's FREE pool Monday! Stop in on Mondays and play some free pool with the purchase of any beer. Located at 2 E. Pikes Peak Ave in the Springs.

Parry's Pizza and Bar (Highlands Ranch) - You may already know that Parry's offers great food and 50 craft beers on tap. What you may not know is that they are hosting an Odell Brewing Pint Night this coming Friday from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Lots of great Odell Brews will be on tap. Order an Odell's beer and you get to keep the pint glass! Get their early to get your glass. Pair it with a hot pizza while you're there. Also, set your calendars for December 21st for their End of the World Party. Stay tuned for details.

Recent Beer Label Approvals: New labels were recently approved for several local beers including: Boulder Beer Co's Honey of a Saison, Grimm Brothers Brewhouse Weihnachts Bier (Christmas beer), Odell Brewing's #OhMyGourd Pumpkin Ale, High Hops The Witty One American Wheat Ale, High Hops The Noble One Belgian Ale, High Hops Power of Zeus Pale Ale, High Hops The Honeyed One American Red Ale, Bonfire Brewing Awry Rye Pale Ale, Bonfire Brewing Tent Pole Vanilla Porter, High Hops The Golden One Delicious Pilsner, High Hops The Dark One Milk Stout, Great Divide Orabell Belgian-Style Ale w/spices and Great Divide's Heyday - Belgian-style White Ale. Look for word on their pending bottle/keg releases in the weeks to come. Out of State beer lovers can look forward to finding Deschutes The Abyss(2012) coming soon after November 19th, and two beers from Goose Island - Bourbon Country Brand Coffee Stout and Cherry Rye Bourbon County Brand Stout.

Oskar Blues (Longmont & Brevard, NC) - According to the Blue Ridge Now Times-News, Oskar Blues' 2nd brewery located at 342 Mountain Industrial Drive in Brevard, NC is slated to produce it's first batch of beer on December 12th, one month from today. A grand opening party for the public will be held on December 31st with a New Year's party. Seeing how their Longmont facility is nearly at full capacity, having this 2nd facility open will go a long way to helping them meet the ever growing demand for their canned craft beer. The new Brevard facility will eventually be able to produce over 85,000 barrels of beer, nearly equal to the 100,000 barrels Oskar Blues plans to produce in 2013 in Longmont.

Odell Brewing (Fort Collins) - The brewery recently put out a video on how their hopback system works. It allows whole hop flowers post boil to be used instead of pellet hops in the boil. Check out the video below or visit Vimeo and watch it there.
