Colorado Beer NewsToday is National Pickle Day. They are one of the world's most popular veggie concoctions around and come in lots of different flavors. Ever pair a pickle with a craft beer? It may take some searching to find the perfect match for you. Some pickle or cucumber beers are already out there in the market. Enjoy the end of the day with a pickle! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Wednesday, November 14th, 2012.

Two Rascals Brewing Co (Montrose) - Like brown ales? How about barrel aged brown ales? If that sounds tempting then you're going to want to pay attention to Two Rascals as they are in the process of starting to age their Nut Brown Ale in oak barrels this week and age that beer for at least six months. Come late Spring you can look forward to the results of this process. In the meantime, they've got a nice variety of non-aged beers available on tap in Montrose, CO.

Strange Brewing Company (Denver) - While their legal battle over their name continues with an east-coast homebrew shop, they're still moving ahead with releasing new beers. Today they're tapping their Big Malty Winter Brew, part of their One-Barrel Wednesdays. This one turned out great. Just perfect to warm you on a chilly day. It weighs in at 7.5% ABV and 40 IBUs. Stop in for a pint.

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - After a long day of furious shopping on Black Friday next week, you're going to want to relax and have some late "after hours" fun. Why not head down to City Star in Berthoud. They're going to be hosting a special "After Hours" music concert from 8:00pm to 11:00pm with Bonnie & the Clydes. This special event has a $5 cover, but you'll be able to sip on some tasty brews and dance to some awesome country / bluegrass music. City Star is staying open late, so stop on down to downtown Berthoud and put on your dancing boots! Also on that day their celebrating MOVEMBER and supporting men's health. They will donate $1 of every beer sold all day to the Movember Foundation.

Our Mutual Friend Malt & Brew (Denver) - Interested in starting to homebrew? Stop on down to the Our Mutual Friend taproom tonight at 7pm as the Denver Home Brewing Club will be meeting there. All those interested in homebrewing are welcome to join in.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - It may not be summer any longer but Beer & Brats season never goes out of style. Tonight at Grimm you can get your fill from The Brat Mobile, they'll be there by 5:00pm and serving up brats, sausages, quesadillas and gyros til 9:00pm. The brews will also be pouring late as well!

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) asks: Do you like the Broncos? How about great beer? BBQ? Cornhole? If you said yes to any of these things than why not come over on Sunday and hang out at their big tailgate party!! $20 will get you into the cornhole tournament (with taproom prizes up for grabs), some free BBQ from Hog Wild BBQ, and 2 free beers (along with $1 off your other pints for the rest of the day). $15 will get you all of this without having to do the tournament if you're not in a sporting mood. Also, along with their $10 beer and cheese pairing tonight, they're bringing in samples from Rocky Mountain Olive Oil Company. Go local and come try some of the best olive oil you've ever had!

Echo Brewing Company (Frederick) - How would you like to watch the Broncos play the Chargers from the 50 yard line, 17 rows from the field this Sunday? Echo Brewing will be giving away a pair of tickets this Saturday, November 17th, at 5:00pm for the game on Sunday, November 18th. Come on in Saturday afternoon and put your name in for the free drawing!

The Mayor of Old Town (Ft. Collins) - Ladies! Want to get some training on IPAs? The Beer Bettys: The Mayor's Ladies Only Beer Club is planning host an Avery training night with Avery Maharaja. There will be a special tapping event for this brew starting at 6:30pm on December 11th. There is limited number of seats available for just the gals (25 seats), so get to their Facebook page and sign up! (20 seats left as of today)

Oskar Blues (Longmont) and Ska Brewing (Durango) - Craft beer in-a-can pioneers Oskar Blues Brewery and SKA Brewing have come together to create a CANlaboration beer to celebrate the 10 Year CANiversary of Dale’s Pale Ale. The Smoked IPA, “oSKAr the G’Rauch”, is the first official brewing collaboration between the two breweries that share much of the same Colorado lifestyle. Hell, you can’t spell Oskar without Ska. 19.2 oz. cans of the Smoked IPA will debut at the 10th CANiversary party at Oskar Blues Grill & Brew in Lyons, CO Saturday, November 17th. The celebration will feature FREE LIVE MUSIC (6pm to 9pm) by “Erik The Viking” and “Interstate Stash Express” before a SOLD OUT show by Los Angeles’s “The White Buffalo” at 9:30pm to 1am.

Walnut Brewery (Boulder) - When you buy a Vanilla Scottish Ale in November, Walnut Brewery will donate a portion of the proceeds to the Rocky Mountain Rescue Group. Who knows, the next life they save may be your own. Stop down to the brewery, drink a Vanilla Scottish Ale and help to save lives.

Westword's 2012 Denver #WebAwards (Denver) - Thanks to all the readers of Fermentedly Challenged, this blog has been nominated as a finalist in the "2012 Best Booze Blogger" category for this year's 2012 Denver #WebAwards. The awards ceremony takes place at RedLine in Denver Thursday, November 15th. Other finalists include: Denver Off The Wagon, Brewtally Insane and Colorado Wino. Thanks to all who voted. Keep your fingers crossed for the win! Fermentedly Challenged writer Dave Butler will be at the ceremonies just in case.

Great Divide Brewing Co (Denver) - Fans of GD's Samurai Rice Ale and their Wild Raspberry Ale take note. These two beers are being RETIRED from the line-up at Great Divide. In their place, Great Divide will be releasing Orabelle, Belgian-style ale, and HeyDay, a Belgian-style White ale. Better stock up on Samurai and Wild Raspberry while you can, they won't be making it anytime soon again.
