Colorado Beer NewsToday is International Men's Day. It's a day for men all over the world to come together to focus on their health, lifestyle and attitudes. Let's face it guys, we tend to live shorter lives than women. Let's do something to extend that lifespan today and improve our life expectancy. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Monday, November 19th, 2012.

Funkwerks (Fort Collins) - Funkwerks was honored last week during the 1st annual Chef 'N' Brew event. Funkwerks' Deceit won the award for Best Beer at the event that took place on Thursday! Deceit was paired with a dish from Jax Fish House, who also won an award for Most Creative Dish. Funkwerks recently earned a Gold medal for Deceit at the Great American Beer Fest this year as well. Grats to Funkwerks for yet another award for this fine Belgian-Style Strong Specialty Ale!

Brewery Rickoli (Wheat Ridge) - Time for another brewery opening! On Wednesday, November 28th at 4:00pm - Brewery Rickoli will officially celebrate a soft opening with a party at the brewery. Their facility is located at: 4335 Wadsworth in Wheat Ridge, CO. They'll have such beers as Black Pline (plin-ee), Aldo Red, a Rye Stout, and possibly more. All are welcome to join in.

Arvada Beer Company (Arvada) - Not only do they have 9 local restaurants willing to deliver right to your table in their tap room, but now you can also order snacks right inside the brewery. They have a rotating list of munchies available including: soft pretzels, chips, nuts, Chex Mix, Cheez Its, Cracker Jack, M&M mini-cookies plus a wide range of soft drinks too. Bring in the kids - they are family friendly too.

De Steeg Brewing (Denver) - Work continues towards getting their brewery and taproom completed. Things are moving very quickly now. Walls are all primed, walk in cooler is set up, but not functional yet. Bar is underway. They've even got one of the bowling lanes on the bar! Also all the lighting has been installed. Stay tuned for more news as opening day approaches.

Mobile Canning (Longmont) - The small business that started in Longmont helping small brewers put craft beer into a can will soon be expanding, specifically into another state. Mobile Canning announced that they will be opening up an operation in Ohio and calling it Great Lakes Mobile Canning. This operation will be an affiliate and will help serve breweries in Ohio, Michigan and western Pennsylvania by sometime in March or April of 2013. Mobile Canning currently serves about 10 breweries in Colorado and will now be able to help other small breweries in other states. See the full story in the Ohio.com article.

Grimm Brothers Brewhouse (Loveland) - Announcing the Toy and Food Drive at Grimm Brothers! Join Grimm Brothers in supporting Santa Cops of Larimer County and Food Bank for Larimer County in making the Holidays a little brighter for those less fortunate. Their goal is 1000 Toys and 1000 Pounds of Food. Help them reach that goal by bringing in donations the next time you visit the brewery! The drive lasts from now through Dec 15, 2012. Also - Monday thru Wednesday this week between 1pm the 3pm - get $2 off any growler - new or refill.

Trinity Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Making fun of the end of the world - in style. Trinity Brewing is hosting a Little Death Ride Release & Costume Party on Friday, December 21st, 2012 at 5pm (assuming the end hasn't already happened). Put on your best zombie costume because they are releasing 'Little Death Ride,' a collaboration with Blackfox Brewing. This beer was crafted with indigenous Mayan ingredients in celebration of the end of the 13th Mayan Baktun. It will be available in 750 ml bottles, and they are tapping just ONE keg. This will be the only time it's available on draught...ever. This Blood Red Saison is brewed with Red Aji Chilis, Annato Seed, Tomatoes, Anasazi Bean, fresh maize, pumpkin, cacao nibs, honey, hoja santa, wild white cinnamon, and aged on clay! Live music starts at 10pm and last call at 1:20am.

High Hops Brewery & Brew Shop (Windsor) - Looking for holiday gift ideas? Here's one. Starting November 23rd, their Homebrew Equipment Kits will be 20% off. Perfect for that person in your life who wants to start homebrewing. After shopping, stop in at the tasting room and relax with a good craft beer on tap.

City Star Brewing (Berthoud) - Happy Thanksgiving week! Tuesday night will be Potluck night from 6-8pm. Bring in a dish to share with everyone. If you cook a dish with a City Star beer as an ingredient you'll receive a free beer. Wednesday night is Trivia Night starting at 7:30pm. They will be closed on Thursday for the holiday, but back open on Friday with a MOVEMBER celebration. They'll donate $1 of every beer sold to the Movember Foundation. Then stick around after hours on the 23rd from 8-11pm for a Bonnie & The Clydes music performance. A special event with a $5 cover charge. Live music will also be on hand Saturday and Sunday starting at 5pm each night too. Stop by sometime this week!

Prost Brewing (Denver) - With the US holiday this week - it's time to stock up on beer. And for that, Prost is offering up Growler Monday! Get 2 growler fills for the price of 1 today. Need a better excuse to take home some beer?

Pateros Creek Brewing (Ft. Collins) - This Friday get your shopping AND drinking done at the same time! Wearers of plaid will get $1 off pints and 10% off merchandise, so kill two birds with one stone this holiday season, and keep it local!

Phantom Canyon Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Expansion is happening! They just obtained their building permit and construction of their new brewery has started today. The new place will be a 55x25 foot addition to the north side of their current building. It'll have a 75 seat patio on the roof too! Stay tuned for updates as they are announced.

Kettles Homebrew Supply (Fruita) - Western Slope Shoppers! Get 10% Off all purchases this Saturday, Nov. 24 in honor of Small Business Saturday. This is also to honor their awesome customers and thanks them for their support. They'll be closed on Wed. & Thur. this week but open again on Friday.

Denver Beer Co (Denver) - In anticipation of #Thanksgiving, DBC will be hosting a food drive to support the Bienvenidos Food Bank. Bring down a donation and get $1 off beers on Tuesday. #ThanksTuesday

River North Brewery (Denver) - More barrel aged goodness is coming. River North just took ownership of five more red wine barrels. They smell good now, just wait until they are filled with beer!
