Colorado Beer NewsToday is Electronic Greetings Day. We've been doing it for years, eliminating paper and pen and sending letters via the Internet. No wonder the Post Office is losing $billions each year. Send someone you know who you might not have been in touch with recently an e-message today and help to brighten their day. Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, November 29th, 2012.

Metro Denver / Boulder

Lone Tree Brewing (Lone Tree) - The brewery is having their one year anniversary celebration on Saturday, December 8th. They will be releasing a new beer every 2 hours starting at noon. There will be a live radio broadcast with Gary V and the American Craft Beer Show, food Trucks, live music starting at 6:00pm and of course CAKE! Also on Sunday, December 9th they are hosting a customer appreciation brunch. They will provide the food and will be offering Bloody Chili Beer Mary's and Beer Mosas. Stay tuned for more on that. Released beers include: Vanilla Caramel Amber Ale at 11am, Red Chili Ale at 1pm, Tropical Export Stout at 3pm, Peppermint Mocha Porter at 5pm and Nitro IIPA at 7pm.

Black Shirt Brewing Co (Denver) - Patrons of Black Shirt Brewing (aka the BSB Mafia) know that due to the popularity of their brews, the small Denver brewery occasionally runs out of beer and has to close down to make more. Good news! They will be open and pouring beer this Saturday, Dec 1st from 4-8pm. Get out, enjoy the beautiful weather, and come treat yourself to a red afterwards!

Avery Brewing Co (Boulder) - This season, their holiday gift to you comes in the form of Bhakti Chai Brown Ale, and it's available only during their upcoming Holiday Bazaar from 3-7pm this Sunday, December 2nd at the brewery! Featuring brown sugar maltiness, hints of vanilla and nuts, and a holiday dose of organic ginger and fiery spices, this brew will help you do all your gift-buying in one fell swoop.

Yak and Yeti (Arvada) - The Sherpa Porter was released last Friday and is going strong, people love it. They even have had several Brit's and Brewers praise its existence. Great news, the Chai Milk Stout was chosen to be on the Old Chicago Holiday Mini Tour. 10 of the beers were mandated and they only got to choose two more making it 12, so this is a great honor having their beer on tap at the Wadsworth and 88th location during the month of December! Upcoming brews: Dec 7th - Off Kilter 80/-, 5.2%, 18IBU's, simple Scottish Export named by our Facebook fans (the runner up was "Thistle-do-nicely") read more about the release here. Also on Dec 21st - End of the World party with "Up in Smoke" Rauchbier lager release at 4PM. 5.6% and 28 IBUs.

Northern Colorado

New Belgium (Fort Collins) - Their distribution is constantly growing and starting in 2013, New Belgium beers will be available in both Louisiana and Alaska. Look for them to make a debut there by Fall 2013. In other news according to, New Belgium is planning to retire Belgo IPA by the end of Q1 2013 and replace it with Rampant Imperial IPA. This one is going to be big and bold and their first imperial IPA. Look also for a new Lips of Faith brew "Sultana Cascara Quad" to show up sometime in Q1 2013. Others planned are: Pluot in Q2, a Coconut Curry Hefeweizen and also a Wild ale in Q3 and Yuzu Berlinerweiss in Q4. Lots to look forward to in 2013.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - What's better than drinking beer? Brewing the beer you drink! Join High Hops and learn the fundamentals of brewing at their Brew Class scheduled for Monday, December 10th at 6:00pm. The entry fee for this class is just $5 which will include a free beer from High Hops Brewery. Once you've learned the basics, they can help get you started with equipment & ingredients to make your own beer (or wine too). Now through December 24th, you can get 20% off a brewing equipment kit - no coupon necessary. Looking for a Christmas tree? Pateros Creek Brewing Co (Fort Collins) - Every Thursday night from 7-9pm it's Trivia Night. Pateros Creek Brewing Company and Geeks Who Drink have finally teamed up to bring you a great Thursday night! Every Thursday from 7-9 Geeks Who Drink will be providing FREE live-hosted trivia where teams will compete to win awesome brewery prizes! PCBC will also be running drink specials all night! Also, 'tis the season for a Christmas themed Outlaw tap! Come in and try the "1st Day of Christmas" - a vanilla porter infused with orange peel, peppermint and pink peppercorns and reindeer magic.

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Tonight is another special blended beer concoction. Come in and try a Stubbly Peter for $3, a blend of their Potent Peter IPA and Beaver stubble Stout. And ladies get 1/2 price drinks tonight. Then on Friday, It's Free Beer Friday at 2pm. A free 1/6th barrel of Shaved Tail Ave will be offered. Limit 1 beer per customer. Then stay for their Beaver Jam Bluegrass Jam from 7-10pm. Then on Saturday, December 1st it's a release of their new beer: Bearded Clam Winter Warmer Ale. Live music will be on hand starting at 6:30pm that night too. Always something going on at the Beaver.

Colorado Springs Breweries

Bristol Brewing (Colorado Springs) - Join in tonight, from 5pm to 9pm for this year's batch of Christmas Ale while donning your Gnarliest Holiday Garb! They brewed up a tasty batch of their spiced Christmas ale annually to celebrate this most festive of seasons. Every year their brewers change up the spices to showcase new ideas and keep things interesting. This season's recipe was crafted by their own Bob Archibald. When he's not pouring beer at Bristol, Bob is an avid homebrewer. In addition to this year's party is their 1st Gnarly Holiday Garb Pageant. They will award prizes to the men and women with the ugliest, tackiest, gnarliest and just plain wrong holiday attire. Now is the time to hit up your Great Aunt Edna, the prolific knitter, for an atrocious ensemble. Prizes include beer for a year, t-shirts and other Bristolicious schwag. And if that isn't enough fun for one night, the Wassail Group will be performing from 5:30-6:30pm.

Mountains and West

Palisade Brewing Company (Palisade) - It is that time of the week again! "Keep it real Thursday". Their Mint Chocolate Porter is being tapped at 4:20pm this afternoon! Texas Holdem starts at 6:30pm and Football on the big screen. Pineapple Crackers is playing live tomorrow night from 7-10pm. It is going to be another fun filled weekend in Palisade!
