Fermentedly Challenged takes honors at 2012 Denver #WebAwards

The news came almost immediately upon walking into the doors at RedLine in Denver last night for's 2012 Denver #WebAwards ceremony and party. Fermentedly Challenged took top honors in the Best Booze Blogger category for the year. A couple hundred people were on hand to support the nominees in over 40 different categories all related to the web, social media and electronic entertainment and communications.

I just wanted to say thanks to and to everyone who voted for this blog in this year's awards. I was surprised to be nominated and even more shocked to find out that I won last night. I was in some great company along with the other nominees in the Booze Blog category. All of the nominees deserved to be there and I want to give them all a shout out too.
The nominees The winner is... The crowd at the awards

Denver Off The Wagon - they won this category in 2011 and they continue to be one of the best booze blogs around. They cover the complete spectrum of booze, not just beer. Grats to PJ Hoberman and his crew on another great year.

Brewtally Insane - this blog got it's start earlier this year and has quickly become quite popular in the Colorado craft beer circles. Mark Robinson has a real passion for craft beer and it shows in his posts.

Colorado Wino - This great looking site is all about the wine side. Admittedly, I'm not a wine drinker, but this site has got a LOT of great information for those who do. Grats to Jacob Harkins and the local winos group for putting together a great site.

I also want to give a big shout out to Jonathan Shikes, who writes for Westword. He should also have been on the list in my opinion, but apparently Westword didn't allow him to be nominated by his own company's website. Jonathan is one of the best beer writers in Denver and he deserves as much recognition as the rest of us. I had a chance to talk with him as well last night. Give him a read!

And to all the other Colorado booze bloggers that didn't get nominated - keep at it! If Fermentedly Challenged can come out of no where to get the nod then surely some of you can also be nominated next year. There are so many good writers out there now.

During the event, I had a chance to chat with a couple of fellow nominees at the ceremony last night. Sorry if I didn't get a chance to talk with all of the nominees. The wide range of categories was almost mind boggling: from sex bloggers, to best Tweeter, to politicians, to sports blogs.

Dave and Amanda from Odell BrewingI had a chance to chat with Amanda Johnson and Dave (one of the brewers) from Odell Brewing Company. They brought 3 of their beers to the party including their brand new "#OhMyGourd" pumpkin beer which made it's debut last night. I managed to have a glass of this and all I can say is: You've GOT to try this! The beer will be on tap in their taproom in Fort Collins, Co later this week. I really hope they decide to continue making this brew, it's got a great pumpkin taste and goes lightly on the spices to make a completely smooth and enjoyable seasonal ale. It'll go great with turkey dinner this week!

Dave ButlerThanks so much for this honor. I am very thankful for my readers, my fellow bloggers, the nomination and the win. Looking forward to sharing more Colorado craft beer news with you all in the months to come.
