Colorado Beer NewsToday is Miners' Day. Back in 2009, the US Senate declared this day for honoring all US Miners, their past, present and their future. Their efforts throughout our nation's history helped build America and sustain it even to this day. Cheers to them! Here's what's happening around the Colorado beerosphere today Thursday, December 6, 2012.

Metro Denver / Boulder

Dry Dock Brewing Co (Aurora) - 2012 Signature Series Bligh's Barleywine release date is set. 10 cases (120, 22oz. bottles) will be released at the Dry Dock tasting room on Sunday, December 9th at 11am, limit 1 bottle per person, $20 ea. They'll also have a limited amount on-tap that day while it lasts! Bligh's will also be available in your local stores starting on December 11th. Also, on Monday, December 10th fro 6pm to 7pm if you wear your holiday attire to Dry Dock then you'll qualify to get 25 cent chicken wings during their Christmas Power Hour! All others will pay 50 cents per wing (without holiday attire). Bad holiday sweaters and Santa hats count!

Copper Kettle Brewing (Denver) - Get $1 off all beers during the Broncos vs Raiders game tonight. Primo Wood Fired Pizza will be on site as well to help feed ya.

Northern Colorado

Crabtree Brewing (Greeley) - A milestone will be reached today in the short 6 year history of Crabtree Brewing. Today will mark the last time that they will be bottling their beer in their old location at 625 3rd Street in Greeley, CO. Jeff and Stephanie Crabtree are busily preparing their new facility on 29th Street to house all of their future brewing and packaging operations. Their plan is to close out their old brewery location by the end of the month. While the new facility will have a temporary brewery set up until a new bigger building is constructed behind their new tasting room, they will eventually have room for even more production capacity. The last bottling run will be completed today by mid-afternoon. Stop out and watch them work!

Big Beaver Brewing (Loveland) - Stop in tonight and try a special blended brew called Brown Bean Bag - a combo of Bust-A-Nut Brown Ale + Breezy Bean Bag Scottish Ale. A pint is just $3. It's also "Beavers Night" - aka 1/2 price drinks for the ladies. Also tonight, the Stubby Shillelaghs will be playing their Irish Folk music from 7pm to 9pm. Friday will be another Free Beer Friday. They'll tap a free 1/6 barrel of Beaver Patch Ale at 2pm - limit 1 glass per customer. Then stay for the Bluegrass Jam from 7pm to 10pm.

High Hops Brewery (Windsor) - Did you catch some of that Sour ale in their firkin last night? There's a new firkin tapped every Wednesday if you didn't. They also released a new keg of Fresh Hop Ale. Also, High Hops just got in a new shipment of their stainless steel growlers! Stop in this weekend for live music: Friday - Ash Ganley 6pm-8pm, and Saturday Joel Kachel from 5pm - 7pm.

Left Hand bottle writingLeft Hand Brewing (Longmont) - Ever notice Oskar Blues putting special messages on the bottom of their cans? Well starting now, you'll see some clever sayings just below the BEST BY date and run numbers on bottles of Left Hand beer. Their current Nitro Milk Stout bottles sport the words: "...more cowbell!" just below the neck of the bottle. Those guys in packaging must be having fun figuring out what to say next. Echo Brewing Co (Frederick) - The next Barley Belles meeting will be next Wednesday, December 12th, at 7:00. Leslie from Bootstrap Brewing will be their guest speaker. The group will be talking about food pairing with chili beers. The meeting is free of charge. Please RSVP to if you'd like to come or have questions. See you there!

Loveland Aleworks (Loveland) - Just yesterday, Loveland Aleworks obtained their wholesale license. Now they are busy looking for places to put their beers on tap. If you'd like to see their beer at your local bar or restaurant - let them know!

The Fort Collins Brewery (Ft. Collins) - Spend your "Brew Years' Eve" with FCB! Polish your dancing shoes and join in for an extra special New Years Eve. Special beer pairing dinners, prizes for 1920's costumes. Swing band and Champagne toast at midnight. Call: 970-682-2260 for reservations or check the websites for additional details. Also, stop in now for a taste of their specialty beers including: Obsessed-Barley wine, Imperial IHOP, Big Shot, Double Chocolate Stout, Double Chocolate Coffee Stout, Doppelbock, Summit Pale Ale and ESB.

Mountains and West

Silverton Brewery (Silverton) - Sad news, due to a struggle from a recent fire, Joel & Kate Harvie, owners of the Silverton Brewery have decided to close their brewery in the small mountain town in southwest Colorado. But fear not! Their beer will live on. Silverton Brewery will continue to contract out their beer brewing in Denver and will begin canning their beer for statewide distribution starting in early 2013 according to a Denver Post article today. The brewery taproom quietly shutdown in October. This closing marks the 2nd brewery to announce closing within the last month. (See the owner's comments below)

Bars, Restaurants and Misc.

Parrys bomber and singles saleParry's Pizza (Highlands Ranch) - Time to slash some inventory! Parry's is having a Holiday Bomber Bottle and Singles Sale! On Friday, January 18th, 2013 Parry's will be hosting a Firestone Walker Pint Night at 5:30pm to 7:30pm. Order a Firestone Walker beer and keep their logo'ed glass!

Highland Tap & Burger (Denver) - The end is near! And to "celebrate" they are throwing an End of the World Party on Friday, December 21st from 3pm to 2am. They will have happy hour prices for 11 hours including $3 select draft beers. Party down like there's no tomorrow!

New Belgium-themed bars (Snowmass) - There's something new for skiers in Snowmass. The Bar at Wildwood is a "cool new beer hall, collaborated with Colorado’s New Belgium Brewery, that’s sure to be a favorite of locals and guests alike". The bar features an eclectic mix of vintage and contemporary furnishings creating a hip and casual atmosphere. Lounge seating, cozy corners and fireside joiner tables make it the perfect place to hang for lunch, apr├Ęs or late-night. Pouring 10 taps of New Belgium’s finest brews paired with unique entrees, appetizers and specialty pizzas. Nearby, The Ranger Station is a new slope-side bar and eatery in the lower level of the Westin Snowmass Resort that offers a wide selection of New Belgium's Colorado craft beers and seasonal varieties in a casual environment.
